GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Provisional Executive Council of the Republic of New Alderaan
  • Classification: Government-in-exile, network of exiles and volunteers
  • Affiliation: The exiles are loyal first and foremost to the People of New Alderaan, though thanks to their defensive alliance and consequent help during the invasion, the government also has ties to the Galactic Alliance.
  • Organization Symbol: The organization uses a variety of New Alderaanian-associated symbols, but the most common use is the ancient Rebel Starbird
Redstarbird.svg
  • Description: After the planet had suffered massive death and destruction at the hands of the Bryn'adul, New Alderaan's government immediately set out to be better prepared for the next major threat to the planet, and as such drew up contingency plans for an occupation. During the Occupation of New Alderaan by the Empire, a group of key legislators, military and intelligence leaders, and government ministers evacuated to the friendly Galactic Alliance with the purpose of organizing exiles and volunteers, as well as providing monetary and advocacy support for diaspora New Alderaanians throughout the galaxy.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Their primary office is located in the Senate District on Coruscant
  • Domain: As a government in exile, they do not actively hold dominion over any planets or locations; they only have a handful of offices and safe houses across the galaxy, though they do have a network of friendly cantinas, spaceports, and inns outside of empire space.
  • Notable Assets: other than the aforementioned handful of locations, the only assets the Government-in-exile has access to are those that its fellow exiles or friendly galactic governments offer.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: Being a government in exile, with its direct purpose primarily serving as a political advocacy organization and providing resources to other exiles, there isn't exactly a true hierarchy apart from a few New Alderaanian Legislators and Ministers, who form a sort of ad-hoc executive council, as well as a sort of middling-tier of leadership made up of military personnel who've joined as volunteers to help the Galactic Alliance in its conflict against the Empire.
  • Membership: Any law-abiding exiled citizens or former citizens of New Alderaan in good standing are welcome to request the government-in-exile's assistance in surviving the chaos of the galaxy or offer their assistance to the cause in opposing the current occupation of their homeworld. Those known to leadership or the military tier who volunteer in military or clandestine service for the GA against the Empire are prioritized for recruitment to the network of exiles.
  • Climate: While there are a few political and family rivalries and feuds which survive off-planet, as with almost any organization, by and large the atmosphere of the organization is one of family - and even two piping hot rivals won't bat an eye before teaming up to take on an outside threat or harm. These are a hardy people whose ancestors survived the destruction of their planet 800 years ago, and who have twice in living memory seen their planet occupied by an enemy force - one absolutely genocidal. They've learned to stick together and rage against the indifference of the galaxy, and as such they treat each other as an extended family - not always agreeing but always looking out fo reach other.
  • Reputation: The reputation of the Government in Exile varies not only across the different factions but within them. You're just as likely to find an Imperial who thinks they're just a bunch of cowards who left their planet rather than deal with the new government as you are one who sees them as an irrevocable threat to the Empire's hold on the Tion Cluster. Likewise, their reputation in the Galactic Alliance the perception can vary from people who see them as nothing but a bunch of freeloaders with just a few war heroes granting them a semblance of legitimacy, or as potentially valuable allies who can offer great services in the war against the Empire. Outside of the political, military, and intelligence branches of the galactic governments, you're just as likely to find people who don't know a damned thing about the, or at the very least are indifferent to their existence. Even among New Alderaanians, those who serve the empire are likely to see them as rebels and renegades, traitors to the planet, while the independent-inclined and other exiles view them as a family fighting to retake their home.
  • Curios: It's standard fare for Members of the Government-in-Exile's organization who serve as military volunteers, or who have a history in the New Alderaanian military but are currently civilians, to proudly wear their Security/Defense force pins from their service to New Alderaan as a symbol of defiance towards the empire. What's more, political and military members of the network carry special encrypted datapads which, among other-far more effective-forms of encryption, are encoded only to show Old Tionese script.
  • Rules: There aren't any directly codified rules among the members of the network, though it is expected that those in contact keep the network's goings about confidential, and maintain good, law abiding standing with both the Government-in-Exile and their host governments. Military and Intelligence volunteers in other galactic governments are expected to follow those governments' regulations to a T and serve as a shining example of New Alderaanian soldiery. Of Course, an unspoken rule is to avoid assisting the empire, and any Imperial-friendly members would at best be quickly shown the door.
  • Goals: Ultimately, like any other government-in-exile, the goal of the Provisional Executive Council and the network supporting them is to restore the rightful independence and freedom of New Alderaan and the surrounding Tion Cluster from the Empire. Beyond that, though, they serve to provide aid and comfort to New Alderaanians in diaspora across the Galaxy, and coordinate with other galactic governments and New Alderaanians volunteering or serving those galactic governments to carry out actions against the Empire.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

New Alderaan had been broken - much of its populace had been murdered, purged in the genocidal march of the Bryn'adul, the survivors, and those lucky enough to be offworld when the invasion came, were forced to comb their way through the rubble, and try to rebuild something worthwhile. Along with many neighboring worlds dealing with the same problems, the Republic of New Alderaan rose from these ashes, and as a founding member became a constituent state of the Tion Republic.

However the nerve center of this rising phoenix were not naive. With the Brotherhood of the maw marauding across the unknown regions and dsetroying entire planets, and now a new rising power in the north of the Galaxy in the form of the new Empire, it became necessary that the government create a plan for the likely - some suggested inevitable - subjugation to an unfriendly government. And with that, plans were drawn up for secret evacuations and regular deployments out of the Tion Republic's space to ensure there would be the resources to form a government-in-exile for an occupied New Alderaan.

When the Empire began to subjugate the worlds of the Tion Cluster, it became time for these contingency plans to come to fruition. Escaping to the safety of the allied Galactic Alliance, the designated government officials touched base with New Alderaanians already in the Alliance, and established the Provisional Executive Council as the government-in-exile of New Alderaan.
