OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: Create an engineered species to assist the Nothmiro Federation during combat, provide security, and act as specialized units during battles.

  • Canon: N/A

  • Links: Nothmir: (x)

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Name: Model 471a Federation Bion

  • Designation: Sentient

  • Origins: Engineered Species - Nothmir

  • Average Lifespan: 50 years if constantly active, 150 years if only hibernating.

  • Estimated Population: Scattered - Nothmiro Military bases and warships

  • Description: Bions are just... strange. A pair of all white eyes save for the pupils and an entire lack of a nose tends to unsettle people. Bones are odd shaped and muscular structures look unnatural, overall other sentients feel repulsed by them. Good thing they rarely leave their suits.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

  • Breathes: Type 1

  • Average height of adults: 2 m

  • Average length of adults: N/A (Bipedal)

  • Skin colour: Light Grey

  • Hair colour: N/A

  • Distinctions: No nose, grey skin, all white eyes excluding pupils, slightly protruding bones, muscular structures appearing to be partially disconnected, speaks through implanted synthesis unit due to lack of vocal cords and mouth

  • Races: None

  • Force Sensitivity: Force Dead

  • Strengths:

  • Combat Built: Combat Bions are well suited for combat, and are more physically resilient than baseline humans

  • Specializable: 471a models can be “programmed” through the use of chemicals and pseudo-brainwashing to make them better suited for a particular role.

  • Hibernation: 471a model bions can enter a period of hibernation, lowering their metabolisms to allow themselves to go for extended periods without food or water, and extending their total lifespan to up to 150 years (Every 3 years in hibernation equals 1 year of age to the body)

  • Force Dead: Bions are force dead, and are not vulnerable to many force abilities that require beings to be force sensitive

  • Weaknesses:

  • Inhibitor: As with all bion units, Model 471a models are fitted with an inhibitor chip that makes them almost completely compliant with any order, and makes them reliant on high ranked officer-class personnel to function effectively.

  • Modified digestive tract: Without a stomach, bions can only eat Federation Bion Nutrient Packs without getting extremely sick and possibly dying. This was introduced as a money saving method, but it has lead to a weak immune system. This makes them also vulnerable to biological weapons.

  • Sterile: To keep bions in the battlefield longer, all 471a models are completely sterile.

  • Hideous: Federation bions are terrifyingly unpleasant to the eye, and they invoke revulsion in most species. They just look plain... unnatural. However they practically live inside their suits, but don’t ask them to take off their helmets.

  • Force Dead: Bions are force dead, and cannot benefit from force-based abilities

CULTURE

  • Diet: Federation Nutrient Packs, all other foods are extremely poisonous and will usually kill Bions.

  • Communication: Vocalization through voice synthesis unit, as this is implanted at “birth”.

  • Technology level: Galactic standard.

  • Religion/Beliefs: Decades of genetic experiments and brainwashing, along with inhibitor chips, has made Federation bions totally loyal to the Nothmiro Federation. They believe that order must be maintained at any cost, even their lives. They share the same xenophobic beliefs as the rest of the Federation, and don’t take prisoners unless specificaly ordered.

  • General behavior: Social behaviors in 471a bions are simply non existent, and have no interest in forming bonds. This model of bion shows heightened aggression and a tendency to use exceptionally brutal tactics on uncooperative civilians

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Bions are the culmination of centuries of genetic modification by the Nothmiro Federation’s genetic division. Created in the gene-smithies in the science pillar headquarters on Nothmir, they served as shock troops and marines in their Federation’s campaigns against the Yuuzhan Vong in the unknown regions. Using DNA from humans as the basis, they were modified to be more effective in combat. This came at a cost, their very identity.

Bumps across this road were numerous, brain death, blindness, inability to digest any substance whatsoever, cancers, no lungs, seven lungs, and other debilitating conditions. After hundreds of individuals one was found, unit 471. Cloned hundreds of times and the unit itself broken down for genetic material the project was finally complete.

New versions were phased in and out, but the 471a bions stuck around for some reason or another. Still being produced by the gene engineers on Nothmir, they are an essential part of the Nothmiro Federation’s military strategy.

As part of the gene-editing program, the biological mechanisms that can lead to force sensitivity were disables over multiple generations. This is both a boon and curse, they cannon benefit from the abilities that force users possess (like force healing) but are also immune to mind tricks and mental assaults that could leave them vulnerable. There have been darker rumours however, that whisper of Yuuzahn Vong genetic information.

Over all, looks good.

Only two comments to make, and they're both related, being Force Dead is a really unnatural thing, and it's got its perks as well as its cons. If you'd like, you can list being Force Dead under strengths as well, as offensive powers will have little to no effect on them.

Secondly. Force Dead. Unnatural. Every living thing is connected to the Force, be they clones, abominations, zits that gained sentience, you name it. Given that there's no explanation for why these beings are completely and totally disconnected from the Force, it probably wouldn't hurt to add a blurb to the Historical Info to explain what part of the process made these guys Force Dead.

I'll leave this open for a bit, let me know if/when you make edits.
