SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Advanced Targeting: The Ziz employs an advanced targeting and rangefinder system making it extremely accurate across long distances.
  • Alternate Munitions: This weapon can alternate between thermal / kinetic and Ion Ammunition.
  • Deployable: The Mk. 99 is kept in an internal bay which is capable of producing the weapon should it be needed.

STRENGTHS
  • Terrifying Strength: This massive Cannon fires a projectile capable of crippling or annihilating other craft in not only its own class but of those significantly higher with only a couple of shots. The sheer explosive potential power of the rounds fired by the Ziz are not only capable of penetrating, but over penetrating capitol class ships, massive asteroids, and even small planetoids. Should a round manage to come to a complete halt due to the defenses or resistance of a structure they come into contact with, the blast radius due to the kinetic and energy potential of the weapon exceeds a kilometer in diameter.
  • Penetration Potential: Due to the incredible forces and momentum at work with the charged particles of the Ziz's ammunition, so long as the Ziz is hitting material objects, sans them having the density of a planets outer crust the combined kinetic force, heat and potential kinetic energy tears the subject apart molecularly, tearing molecules and weakening a structure before the bolt itself hits. Giving it a tendency to annihilate solid surfaces.
  • Hell in its Wake: Such extreme energy tends to not simply break things, it causes things to break themselves. The force of the bolt tearing through solid objects has a high enough heat signature and energy to cause objects it comes into contact with to become volatile and thermally detonate, albiet on a much smaller scale. Secondary explosions following the course of the bolt can be horrifying to behold as the blast tears through a ship for the metals of its composition to then react with the oxygen of the ship as it and even the oxygen it passes near explodes or spreads fire, tearing a ship in two.
  • Hyperspace Rating: Finally, this weapon being charged with the power of a hyperspace engine in place of a standard reactor, fires a projectile through sub-space with a rating of 2.5. Meaning that it is capable of catching, or intercepting other ships attempting to make jumps in hyperspace if their hyperspace rating is lower, or to intercept ships arriving via hyperspace. Additionally, the projectile speed of the weapon is so fast that, should a ship be in its path at the time of pulling the trigger. Being hit, is almost a certainty.
  • Alternate Munitions: In order to prove to be a more versatile weapon, the plasma at the heart of the weapon can carry thermal or Ionic energy in order to decide whether it wants to shut down electronics, shields and droids in its blast radius or to detonate thermally as a standard explosion. Ion ammunition of this weapon has no penetration power and deals little damage than causing damaging power surges to electronics.
  • Highly Accurate: With several Sensors, Advanced Rangefinders and solid highly sensitive construction the Ziz is an extremely accurate precision weapon. The BRY system that is employed within the weapon exists solely to perform hyperspace interception calculations in conjunction with the sensory and targeting technology on board.
  • Shielded: To defend itself the weapon, using its own excess energy while charging employs a CROSS one way shield system in conjunction with any other shields which may surround the ship or fortification that its situated on in order to protect it from heavy weapons.
WEAKNESSES
  • Highly Telegraphed: Almost any scanner capable of reaching the ship armed with a Ziz unit would be able to pick up the charge of this shot long before it is ever fired. Enabling time for smaller more maneuverable ships to potentially identify the source and maneuver away before the weapon is fired. While large ships could use the opportunity to mitigate damage to certain areas or prepare defenses.
  • Shielded Enemies: While material barriers and armour prove almost no problem for the rounds, the plasma blast has a hard time tearing through high quality shields in much the same way. While stopping dead on a shield will trigger the explosion of the round, likely dealing some damage. It would likely be manageable.
  • Gravity Wells: Due to the intense friction, which effectively becomes difficult terrain for the blast. Should the round pass through a gravity well synthetic or a planetary shadow, the hyperspace rating of the round lowers to approximately 5.
  • Dominant Equipment: The Ziz is large and energy intensive enough that it can only be equipped by ships of at least Cruiser class, constituting a cruisers' entire offensive arsenal. Any and all other weapons equipped with a Ziz system of a larger rating can only be defensive arrays in no higher than an average amount for a ship of their respective class, least the ships core threatened to be overburdened. For each class of ship higher than a star destroyer, it can carry an additional 1 Mk. 99 Ziz system to a horrifying maximum capacity of 4 for a Super Star Destroyer.
  • Friend of Foe: The Scanners on board the Ziz are capable of discerning the speed and size of objects moving through hyperspace in order to target them, but cannot see them. Meaning that if not careful or pre-planned. Friendly fire is a distinct possibility.
DESCRIPTION
The Apex of House Aquilas' military engineering and a blockade weapon truly capable of holding a line like no other in the galaxy. A highly accurate implement meant to be the ultimate deterrent for mass invasions of the planets along the Mara Corridor. With the capability of tracking and potentially sniping another ship while it moves through hyperspace being one of the ultimate expressions of defensive power in the universe. Felix Aquila equated the attempt at hitting another ship in hyperspace was like attempting to intercept a beam of light as it moved with another, smaller beam of light. Yet thanks to the existence of long range scanning technology it became potentially possible. giving the ships a small window of opportunity to take such shots, especially if the Ziz is already primed.

Felix would Equip two major ships in the defense of planets under his contracts with ships using these weapons, with a contingent of ships armed with them to support a singular mobile fleet. The total number of ships equipped with Ziz units sits at approximately a dozen at any time considering the time, effort and money involved in their creation, often costing more than the ships they are equipped to.

However through testing on asteroid fields, Felix and the house Aquila Quartermasters' had to find titanium rich planetoids in order to test its explosive capability should the projectile meet physical resistance. Later Discovering that with a powerful enough energy shield unit upon one of the structures to secure its defense, they had a target tough enough in order to scan, simply due to the fact the projectile would continually penetrate the objects it was targeting, even ones in excess of 500m diameters.

In the end the Ziz project was considered a resounding success, hailed the magnum opis of the House Aquila Quatermasters guild and their experimental technology. Becoming the crown jewel among their many creations into military weaponry. A weapon that need not destroy a planet for stability, it need only destroy an attacking command ship in hyperspace, before it reaches its intended destination.
