Private Might've Sorta Started A Fight

Eliz_div.png

It might of been a mistake. Having Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla and Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze fight each other was something good for both of them, or at least that's what he was telling himself. Jenn seemed to bond over a fight, and Gwyn needed a boost in self confidence. Did it work? When Gwyn woke up, Eliz was sure he'd find out. For now though he kept the currently out cold girl in his arms with the other Mandalorian helping to keep his back covered. That was the other thing he hadn't thought through. Gangsters trying to steal his armor. He figured there might be people coming after them, but the seriousness behind it wasn't something he gave much concern to. He should have.

At least Aubin was also there, stalking in the shadows to give them warning if someone was coming their way. Thankfully? No such thing. It wouldn't be long until they reached the safe house. Which Eliz was sure to explain to Jenn how to get through the explosives that were set up in the initial entrance. The place was, to say the least, a dump on the outside. But once they got to the door and Eliz punched in the code to walk in, things were a bit more colorful. Gwyn had done a lot of sprucing up in her time stuck here.

"C'mon. Gwyn's gotta get out of sight." That was probably the biggest mistake. Sure, gangsters might not of been a problem. But, now that he was here? The realization dawned on him. Gwyn was still in hiding. And he'd just taken her outside to get into a brawl. In broad daylight. Among a lot of people.

Hopefully Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla wasn't waiting inside, or he'd be pissed.

Jenn really, really wanted to call Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt an idiot. A moron. An absolute buffoon.

Sadly, she was far too busy making sure they weren't followed, her head snapping from angle to angle, revolver in hands. That this planet wasn't an active warzone hardly mattered to her: slipping back into the familiarity of combat was much, much easier than acting covertly for her. So it was that she escorted the foolish couple back to their hideout, dead silent the whole way... up until they got into the safehouse proper, anyway.

With but a nod of acknowledgement, she followed the hybrid inside, her grip on the pistol still firm. After all, surviving alone for so long created a healthy dose of paranoia in the woman's mind.

The giant paced about the living room worriedly at a brisk pace, his hands clasped behind him. It had been several hours since he came home from The Kom’rk in Kestri. He was on leave for a while, and had decided to pay Eliz and Gwyn a visit as usual to see how they were. Nothing out of the ordinary for him at the start, but the safehouse was empty when he got there.

There were no signs of a fight in the house, he made sure to check the entire safehouse from top to bottom for any signs of struggle. No one had broken in from what he could tell. There were no notes left written for him to know where they were. Eliz had to be with Gwyn, he assumed as much, but what if someone found out about the safehouse, sliced the controls to the armored door and kidnapped them?

Kranak being Kranak, he assumed the worst as he finally walked towards his gun cage and started to prepare. He cared about them deeply. The giant grabbed his Primary and Secondary from his gun cage, slinging them over his shoulder. The Scatter Gun was slung over his backplate, with the Paranaor blaster rifle slung over his left pauldron over his shoulder. The rifle was suspended on his chestplate as he reached for extra magazines, grenade shells for his underbarrel grenade launcher of his blaster, and slugs from the ammunition boxes inside the gun cage. The giant grasped his sheathed, great beskad and tied the sheath to his warbelt, over his left kama pistol holster.

His heads-up display buzzed as the sensors outside picked up movement in the perimeter of the abandoned apartment complex his safehouse was located at. At this point, he had finally installed hidden cameras to increase security and awareness for himself, Eliz and Gwyn. Muttering a verbal command, the giant quickly brought up the live-feed of one of the cameras, and started tracking the individuals his hidden sensors had picked up. They were three. It was them! He could see Eliz and Gwyn. Wait. Eliz was carrying Gwyn. She was unconscious!

But who was the third?

The unknown individual was clad in beskar’gam, the variant reminded him of the Nite Owls of the Union. Assuming it was a she, the woman had her blaster pistol drawn. Was she a bounty hunter after Gwyn and Eliz? Did she take them prisoner, and forced Eliz to take her to their hideout? No, that couldn’t be it. She didn’t have the blaster pistol trained specifically on Eliz. She was scanning her surroundings for any potential hostiles.
<”And who might you be?”> the giant thought out loud as he watched them enter the abandoned building. Eliz led the way through the safe route, cautiously evading the explosives traps he had set for protection.

The giant let out a relieved sigh, but he was still worried. What were they up to? Why was Gwyn’ika unconscious? Who was the other vod and why was she here? Were they followed on their way here?

And why did Eliz and Gwyn break the rules he had set for them for all their sake? The two had a lot to answer for. He patiently watched as they made their way to the armored door of the safehouse. The door let out a series of metallic clicks and clattered as its locking mechanism was disengaged. The door then would swiftly retract to their housing in the ground and in the ceiling, allowing the three passage into the house.

He could hear the muffled clatter of armored boots as Eliz and the other unknown Mandalorian clad in Nite Owl pattern beskar’gam walked inside.

Once they made their way to the doorway opening into the living room, they would see the giant Ori’ramikad armed and armored from buy’ce to cetare, standing in the middle of the room, turned towards the doorway they would have to take to access the rest of the house. His arms were crossed over the large blaster rifle.

The giant would speak softly after a moment of silence.
<”Who do I need to kill?”> There was a slight hint of anger in his voice. The giant was referring to Gwyn’ika’s state. Someone had hurt her. Gangsters, perhaps? Maybe they were ambushed outside on their way home.

He would not utter another word as he kept his steely gaze from underneath his eerily glimmering white visor on Eliz, expecting the lad to speak and explain what in the kark happened to Gwyn, first. He would speak after he got some answers.

"Chit."

The word summed up every feeling of regret Eliz had as he looked up towards Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla 's buy'ce. He'd always been someone pretty calm. Collected. Even when Eliz lost his arm the giant thought through things calmly and helped keep the half Chiss from bleeding out on that floor. Long fuse, as it were. So to hear any amount of anger in his voice was enough to make the young lad want to turn tail and run. The reason?

This was his fault. His choice. He hadn't even explained anything to Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla or Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze , more lured them together and sat back to watch them fight. He had good reasons, trying to get Jenn to open up more. Get Gwyn to be more confident in herself. But faced with the shot gunned arm man he viewed almost as a father he realized every choice he made was the wrong one.

"That's Jenn Kryze, I trust her." He stepped past the hulking figure, laying Gwyn out on the couch. She was hurt, but it shouldn't be anything life threatening. "Her and Gwyn fought over honor. Gwyn lost, but she fought till she was knocked out. .. I just wanted to help her confidence."

Eliz_div.png
As soon as she noticed the giant clad in beskar, Jenn reacted with the kind of speed that would see her become a bounty hunting legend, if she cared for such business: the revolver was tossed to her other hand in a flash, raised to point right at Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla 's head. That he was holding a blaster rifle hardly bothered her- backing down simply wasn't in her vocabulary. She kept the revolver trained on him for a moment, ready to fire at a moment's notice... before Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt introduced them, and she slowly lowered the weapon. Not that her grip loosened any, mind.

''So, these two are you strays?'' asked the lass derisively, refusing to balk before the man's physical might. ''They weren't hard to beat. If you want them to last, step up their training.''

Keeping his posture, the giant hadn’t even flinched at the large blaster pistol pointed at him. She would not shoot him, the giant believed. Even if she did, he would see to it that she would regret her poor decision the second that blaster's trigger was pulled. Paying her no mind at the moment, Kranak kept his steely gaze at Eliz as he expected him to answer his question.

”That’s Jenn Kryze, I trust her. Her and Gwyn fought over honor. Gwyn lost, but she fought till she was knocked out. .. I just wanted to help her confidence.”

The giant listened to his answer as Eliz laid Gwyn’ika on the couch. The Supercommando approached the couch to get a better look at the girl’s injuries as the young Mandalorian explained the situation to him. Her white, fair skin on her face was riddled with bruises. Her nose was bloody, obviously broken. Her hands were all banged up, presumably from striking Jenn’s beskar’gam. Few drops of blood had trickled down from her mouth. The blood was dried now. Result of an internal injury, perhaps?

He wasn’t sure if she had any internal injuries, but he would leave that up to Eliz to deal with. It was his mess to deal with, and he had something more important to deal with in his mind. The giant would part his lips to ask another question to the young lad but Jenn, the Mandalorian clad in Nite Owl pattern beskar’gam spoke first, giving the giant a snide remark.

”So, these two are your strays? They weren’t hard to beat. If you want them to last, step up their training.”

The giant spared a glance at her direction, looking up from the broken body of the young girl. Her blaster pistol was lowered this time, but her hand still firmly clutched it, ready to raise it at a moment's notice. The Vizsla responded in kind without skipping a beat. <”You take pride in beating a Foundling, ori’jagyc? How pitiful.”> The Supercommando turned his attention to Eliz at an instant afterwards, uncaring of her response, be her response was with words or actions. He would deal with her later. <”Were you followed?”> The giant asked stoically as his left hand casually grasped the pommel of his great beskad, but there was still a small hint of anger mixed with disappointment in his voice. How could he break the rules they had discussed and agreed upon so carelessly? They could have done what he wanted to do on Kestri when the time was right! They had training facilities for that!

His brows furrowed, the giant patiently waited for his answer as he kept his penetrating gaze at the young Mandalorian. He was not sure if he would be satisfied with the young lad’s answer. Whether he would answer his inquiry in a positive or a negative manner, he could no longer leave things to chance. He would have to make sure they were not followed.

Silent Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla was probably the worst. Eliz tried his best to not sweat as he felt the giants eyes on him. On Gwyn. Without a word he'd set out to bandaging Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla , applying bacta where needed and using his helmet's medisensor to scan for anything terrible. There wasn't much, but without armor.. It wasn't too surprising how hurt Gwyn had gotten. Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze seemed to take a lot of pride in beating Gwyn up.

Maybe this was some kind of terrible mistake.

He did his best not to intervene in what was likely going to happen behind him. "My sensors didn't pick anything up."

Eliz_div.png
Duty be damned, she was soon reaching the end of her patience. No matter how tall this man was, the Nite Owl felt just about ready to go and fight Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla right there and then- nobody insulted her nor her honour and walked unpunished. Not Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt , not Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla , and certainly not this walking mountain of a man who thought himself so above her he dismissed her at a glance. Still, she swallowed down her anger, clearly aware of how badly the young hybrid had compromised the semblance of safety established for them here.

''Alright, big guy. I'm going to make you eat your own teeth for your words... but not here, and not now. Looks like we've got a security breach in the making.'' With these words, she pointed towards the door with her revolver. ''Let's go.''

enclavediv.png

She looked down to the floor, cheeks pink, as the Arkanian teacher belly laughed, "Only half Arkanian! I bet you only inherited half our intelligence!"

Gwyneira teared up, struggling as she opened her lips and closed them again. Tense and jittery, she clung tightly to her arm as she was mocked... again.

"How pathetic! Dunce! Can you even see in infrered?"

Gwyn's eyes narrowed, struggling as she shook. Her voice was a whisper, "No..."

The instructor roared in cruel laughter, "Ha! I bet they just let you into our academy for comedy! Or they tried to hire you for a janitor, but they mixed up the paperwork and got you in here instead! What a joke!"

As the sound of students giggling behind her rang out, she tightened her fists.

"You can go sit in the back, where we can't see your ugly half breed features." He snickered.

Gwyn closed her eyes, humiliated. She took a shaky breath, turning to go to the back.

"Wait, Miss Craft, one more thing..."

Gwyn paused, then turned to face him. He held out a Dunce hat. Her eyes widened, heart pounding as more laughter broke out in the classroom. She was shocked, "I-I didn't do anything!"

"No," The Arkanian smirked, "But you are something."

Her vibrating hand reached and took the brim of the hat. The students laughed hysterically as she lifted it and placed it onto her head. She turned, still looking down to the carpeted blue floor, as she faced the classroom in shame. As fast as she could, she darted for the back, but their laughing followed her to her seat.

enclavediv.png

She woke up with a pounding headache, but that was not what awoke her. No, She felt liquid gurgling in her throat. She was coughing. She couldn't breathe! The hot liquid ejected from her mouth as she gasped for air, hands reaching for anything. She... She was too... she could not even sit up. As tears flooded her eyes, preventing her from even seeing where she was, she finally coughed enough of the iron tasting liquid from her mouth to breathe. She panted for air, wincing her eyes shut.

What... what was... Where was she?

As she hoarsely breathed, she once again felt the liquid building up in her throat. She gasped, "Help-!" She went into another coughing fit.

The young Mandalorian finally spoke as he began applying bacta on Gwyn’s bruised face. The giant listened to the lad’s short answer to his inquiry in silence as he carefully watched as Eliz started dispensing first aid to Gwyn’s numerous injuries.

”My sensors didn’t pick anything up.”

The giant would repeat after a short pause; his sullen, dark brown eyes continued their gaze at Eliz, underneath his white glowing helmet visor. <”Your sensors didn’t pick anything up…”> There would be a long moment of silence before he spoke again. He was assessing the situation in his mind once again. After what Eliz had done, it somewhat shook his trust in him. He did not expect Eliz to make such a mistake. He was young and rash. Did he even think through what would happen after he set up this… confrontation with that Nite Owl named Jenn?

The giant finally let out a muffled, disappointed sigh.
<”I will be the judge of that,”> Briskly, the giant spun towards the doorway leading out of the living room. His long black kama fluttered violently to his movement in response. He was angry with the young lad. But he was more disappointed in him than he was angry with him. The giant glanced over his right shoulder as he stood under the doorway. <”I will be back in a few hours.”> Just as he was about to take a step forward, he heard the gurgly, frantic coughing of the young girl laying on the couch on her back. In silence, the giant turned and gazed at Eliz and Gwyn’ika once again in response.

His gut wrenched at the sound of the young girl pleading for help amidst her bloody, gurgling coughs. But he would not be the one to help her this time. He faced some difficulty in suppressing his instinct to sprint beside her and start healing her injuries. No, he would not do it for this occasion. Eliz was more than capable of dealing with it. He had seen to it himself during his training.

<”She better be in a more healthy state by the time I get back.”> said Kranak, in a soft, yet threatening voice. The giant would use this situation for something he had in mind for the young lad. He would have Eliz learn a lesson from this. As much as it pained him to punish him this way, it was necessary. The more stressful it would be, the more memorable this experience was going to be. He would make sure he would not soon forget this, for his own sake, not the Vizsla’s.

”Alright, big guy. I’m going to make you eat your own teeth for your words… but not here, and not now. Looks like we’ve got a security breach in the making. Let’s go.

The giant then turned his gaze at Jenn as the Supercommando softly grasped the pistol grip of the blaster rifle suspended over his broad chestplate. Without a word, he nodded towards the safehouse’s armored door, without breaking his gaze from her. He beckoned her to come along. He wasn't going to deny her assistance in sorting this issue, if she so willingly helped. But he was sure they would butt their heads while they were out there. He was expecting it.

The giant then turned around for the last time towards the door, and left the living room at a brisk pace with the Nite Owl in tow. He repeated what Jenn said internally as he walked.
<I’m going to make you eat your own teeth for your words… Well, we’ll see about that, vod.>

The safehouse door’s locking mechanism disengaged and retracted into their housing, allowing Kranak and Jenn passage out of the apartment. The giant took the lead and began making his way out of the abandoned apartment complex in a cautious manner, weaving around and above the explosive traps smoothly as he went down a staircase.

He would have to scan the entire sector here to make sure they were not actually followed. It had been some time since the liberation of Kaddak. There were Karjr reports about the criminals starting to develop some tactics against the Karjr and Mandalorians alike. Perhaps they found a way to track them without alerting Eliz’ sensors.

Or not. He would have to make sure of which was which on his own, now.

This was not how he thought he would spend his time on leave.

"Relax cyare, you're okay." Well, as okay as coughing up blood meant. His lips thinned behind his helmet as he glanced through the mediscanner, surveying Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla . Ignoring the others. Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla and Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze were an afterthought to him at this point. Eliz rolled her on her side, gently rubbing at her back. Looked like a small tear in the lung? Not the best.

"You're alright." From the scan alone there wasn't enough for her to drown in her own blood. Good thing Kranak taught him some better medic skills. He'd set about actually fixing the wound, completely focused on the task. He knew what he was doing. It'd take a while, but eventually he'd be done fixing Gwyn up and patching her with some Bacta. "See? All good."

enclavediv.png

As Eliz fixed up the bleeding, Gwyneira calmed down. She recognized Eliz. She also recognized the safehouse. She groaned, rubbing her forehead as her headache began to feel better, "Ugh, I feel like I was hit in the head..."

Then, the memory of that stuck up, self righteous, know it all Vod came back.

"Oh. Because I was."

She sighed, sitting up on the couch as she struggled to not rub further and mess up any bacta Eliz applied. She gritted her teeth, "I should've knocked that oh so mighty better than everyone else kriffer down a few pegs. But I-..."

Her bitterness switched to shame as she turned her head away from Eliz, "But I let a bully get the best of me... again..."

The rusty hinges of the metal door squeaked as the giant pushed it open, exiting the fire escape of the abandoned apartment complex, and walking into the courtyard stretching before him. The skies above were blotted with heavy, depressing clouds. On some occasions the bright, clean and pure sunlight shone down on the dreary city slums of Kaddak. The empty, abandoned buildings left to disrepair spread around him in all directions. The giant heaved a deep sigh at the sight. It was a beautiful place to make it a safe haven for yourself, if you had the skills, the know-how and a few thousand credits.

But now, his safehouse faced the danger of being revealed to thugs and gangsters in Kaddak. The crime syndicates and gangs, whether how small or large they were, localized or grand in organization, were banding together to rid the Mandalorian presence on the planet. They could not dare to do anything big, however. The Enclave had made sure of it when they took the planet. But that would not stop the dikut’la aruetiise from trying.

The giant stopped in the middle of the large, open courtyard. With his right hand, he reached for his utility pack at the back of his warbelt to retrieve his probe droid to first initiate a scan of the surrounding area. The giant held his arm in front of him after grasping the probe in his large hand. The droid’s small, silent repulsor unit activated after the giant pushed its power button with his thumb.

With its optical cluster at the middle of its round frame, the probe was suspended in mid air in front of the giant’s faceplate, awaiting his command. His right arm dropped to his side after activating the probe, and began relaying necessary data to it, using his interactive heads-up display. It didn’t take the giant any more than thirty seconds to provide the probe the necessary commands for it to commence the scan. He always hoped for the best, but prepared for the worst possible outcome. He had a number of backup plans and smaller safehouses scattered around various parts of the city, in case his main, primary safehouse here was compromised. He also had prepared the commands and parameters for the probe to initiate the scan just in case he assumed he would be followed.

Receiving its commands and operational parameters, the probe swiftly took it to the skies above. It soon disappeared from their line of sight. Now all he would have to do would be to wait for the reconnaissance report of the droid.

<”Tell me about your fight with her.”> Demanded the Vizsla. His right hand grasped the pistol grip of the blaster rifle slung over his broad chestplate. The giant’s left hand casually grasped the pommel of his greatsword. The Supercommando’s back was turned towards the Nite Owl as he spoke.

The giant spoke softly, the disdain of Jenn no longer apparent in his voice. He was not angry at what she did. He wasn’t also angry about what Eliz did, either. The young girl could desperately use a confidence boost. He understood why Eliz did it. But Kranak was infuriated about the way the young lad had set off to do it. He endangered not only himself, but Kranak and Gwyn in the process. This could have been done on Kestri, too.

But he had let his anger at the young lad got the best of him, and had reflected that anger towards Jenn in the process. In silence, the giant patiently waited for the Nite Owl’s response. He was wondering about how the fight went for the two of them. He would have liked to hear her perspective of the fight if she wanted to tell him.

While Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla prepared the probe, Jenn idly spun her revolver about- more out of a desire to work out some unresolved issues than show off the ease with which she manipulated the weapon. When that demand came, however, she stopped dead in her tracks, her palm resting against the weapon's hammer, the barrel loosely pointed towards the Supercommando. After a moment of silence, she relented, resuming that fancy spinning of hers, keeping her hands busy as she forced on the persona of an impeccably professional warrior. Right, time to speak of Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla .

''I fought and I won. What else is there to say? It's all that matters.'' She paused, suddenly raising her weapon when she thought she picked up movement at the edge of her peripheral vision- only to relax when she realized it was little else than a pile of scrap, slowly swaying from side to side when hit by a gust of wind. ''I treated her the same way I do everyone, and she stood up for herself- as did the other little chit under your wing back on Kestri.'' There was a touch of pride in her voice as she spoke of Eliz Krayt Eliz Krayt in such a manner, if buried underneath her irritation. ''She's got the making of a Mandalorian, if she learns to grow beyond her trauma.''

lLcXg5L.png

Good. Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla was up. Though, upset? Right. Eliz let out a sigh before reaching over to gently pat the top of her head. She didn't get it, then. "I invited Jenn specifically because I knew she'd find something to insult you over." No point in hiding it. Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze caught on early. It was surprising that Gwyn didn't, though, maybe she didn't want to think he'd trick her? Did he trick her?

"You lost, but you went down swinging. Against an opponent in full Beskar'gam, mind you. You've the heart of a Mandalorian. That's all I wanted you to see." A grin spread on his face, though it turned a bit nervous as he laughed.

"Though I think Kranak is gonna kick my ass when he comes back."

enclavediv.png

The girl blinked. So Eliz... purposefully did this? At first she was a bit confused and jaded, but his explanation made sense. Her previous doubts were somewhat resolved as she was assured that she had a Mandalorian spirit. Yet, she had still lost... She was still the weak one.

As Eliz lamented Kranak's anger, fear gripped her heart. Oops. She started a fight. That broke the rules! Her eyes widened as her heart pounded, she bit her lip as her entire body shuddered.

"The both of us..."

She sighed, exasperated, "Kark it, Eliz! We're in trouble and you planned this!" She lowered her head, "But I started the fight! Should I not have? If I had just been good and docile as always we wouldn't be in this mess, and my head wouldn't hurt so bad! I should have stayed down, I-chit! Oh, chit!"

She really did not want Kranak yelling at her. Or being disappointed, or especially just coldly turning her down. Oh, not that! Her entire life had been like that...

enclavediv.png

The little girl squirmed in the seat as cybernetic limbs adjusted her bandage.

"Ugh, snot spewer, you are going to dismantle me one of these days."

The toddler shrinked in her chair, lifting her book and hiding her face. She could perfectly understand and read the 'Tooka' and 'Rancor' words next to the bright children's illustrations of said animals. As she hid her face in the words, the nanny droid could be heard whirling as footsteps resounded in the household.

"Oh, mistress! I once again request a maintenance job, for I am to fall apart one of these days. I have completely taken care of your little brat since day one, this thankless job is going to fry my circuits-

"Ay, yap it, droid! Just do your job, I'm busy!"

The droid stopped buzzing as it retorted, "Death sticks again..."

The woman who was supposed to be the toddler's mommy did not respond. As the little girl continued to gaze into the colorful book, footsteps announced the mother's exit.

Eh? No no, that was regression! Eliz gripped Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla 's shoulders, giving her a stern, serious look. Possibly the most serious he'd ever looked with her. "Yes, we're definitely in trouble. But don't ever just think that you should be docile or 'good'. You're a Mandalorian, Gwyneira Craft. We don't take chit from anyone, and we always stand and fight until we physically can't anymore. You're not a little girl that needs someone's approval. You're a warrior."

He squeezed her shoulders for a moment, trying to be supportive. But even he couldn't hide his own nervousness for what was to come. He accepted the consequences to his actions, always would. But the training he went through with Kranak still lingered in the back of his mind. That was hard. An actual punishment? Oh boy.

"No matter what, don't back down. Even if Kranak beats the crap out of us."

Eliz knew her too well. She was still stuck in the same mentality as when she was a child. A little girl trying desperately to gain approval and acceptance, but only finding ostracization and betrayal. Eliz told her she was different now, but was she? Was she truly different? Sure, she knew how to use blasters now. Sure, she had participated in space battles and skirmishes bounty hunting. Sure, she was training to become a Mandalorian. But despite it all, she always felt the same. That same young girl, approval starved and emotionally scarred.

Did Eliz truly think she was stronger than that?

She blinked rapidly, trying to keep the tears back. She shook her head. She did not want Kranak mad at her, not in the slightest. She did not want to face his scorn, or him lecturing her on everywhere she went wrong. She looked up to him too much, she valued his input and even respected him. Had she let him down?

Could she do it? Could she stand again? She was so used to lying down and taking the beating. Even Eliz was scared right now! Did he have any clue what she was feeling? She had been alone since the very beginning. He could handle Kranak's wrath. Could she?

She sighed, lowering her gaze as she shivered in fear and dismay. She had stood up to a total stranger, could she stand up to her mentor? Especially when he was right? She had to face him, there was no choice now. But how strong could she be? When she was so weak...

"You are a warrior," She breathed, her voice quivering, "I just pretended to be one in the Empire. I lost against that-that bantha herder. And I can't win against the man I look up to!"

She shook her head again, "Chit, what am I even supposed to say? 'Yeah, I broke your rules and broke my nose, but I'm not sorry?' Whatever training I go through, I'm not Vod yet, that's been made very clear to me!"

Oh. Oh chit. That was coming up again. Oh chit. She physically swallowed, as if swallowing her bitterness down. She just was going to pretend she didn't say that part and move to current matters. Yeah. She looked Eliz with an apologetic, sheepish look before asking a question with upmost challenge to it.

"-Just, forget that! If you think I can do it, apparently I can! But what makes you so sure?"

He listened without turning towards her. She had her attention, but he was also watching the live-feed of his drone from his interactive heads-up display. It would take about ten more minutes for it to successfully conduct the aerial reconnaissance. It was going to be covering a 5 clicks circumference around the primary safehouse.

”I fought and I won. What else is there to say? It’s all that matters.”

“I treated her the same way I do everyone, and she stood up for herself as did the other little chit under your wing back on Kestri.”

“She’s got the making of a Mandalorian, if she learns to grow beyond her trauma.”

The giant’s relaxed facial expression left its place to a steely gaze. He didn’t like the way she referred to the young lad. “Little chit”. No, that didn’t sit right with him all that much. But he let it slide, assuming it was just some banter. Mandalorian banter was surely something else. It was as ruthless as they were in battle. He was used to it, hell, he had made his fair share of snide remarks. Some of them ended up with a fist fight, but it was all in good fun. Mandalorian fun.

He gave a slow nod of his head at what she said, agreeing with her on a couple of things. It was true Gwyn was traumatized. She needed self confidence. It was nice of the young lad to think of her and try to give that confidence to her, but the way he did it could potentially put them all in harm's way now.
<Why didn’t you wait until we were in Kestri?> the giant pondered. Doing training and exercise there, having her go out on hunts and searching and destroying some Vong remnants on the planet could also have given her the same confidence boost she got from this little brawl of theirs.

His thoughts then shifted to Jenn’s fight with Eliz, now. She hinted at that, calling him a little chit. He had trained the young lad himself the same way he was trained in the Supercommando School. That was about seven months ago. Way before he lost his arm. The giant slightly tilted his head to the side. Maybe that’s how she got the best of him. Losing an arm meant losing years upon years worth of trained muscle memory. It would take a long time for a cybernetic limb to be as good as the one he lost in the first place. He would have to exercise hard to get the muscle memory back.

<”I see,”> The giant Ori’ramikad spoke in a soft tone. A light buzz sounded off in his heads-up display. The probe notified him that it completed scanning one of the divided sectors in the five clicks large circumference. No sign of hostiles yet, but there were several more sectors to be thoroughly scanned. <”How did you two meet?”> The giant inquired as he minimized the live-feed on his HUD and began scanning the environment around him with vigilance. His left hand shifted from the pommel of his legendary greatsword and grasped the handguard firmly. The weapon was kept at a somewhat casual low-ready stance. The butt stock was inside the pocket of his right shoulder, with the barrel pointing down on the ground at a forty-five degree angle.

He would be scanning his sectors as he would listen to the Nite Owl’s answer. He was wondering who she was exactly. Eliz mentioned she was a Kryze. It had been a while since the last time he saw a member of that ancient, deepseated House.

"Because you're Gwyneira karking Craft." No matter what she said, no matter how much she put herself down, Eliz's answer was always going to be the same. He flashed a much more confident grin this time. Sure, they'd be punished soon enough by Kranak Vizsla Kranak Vizsla for the breach of security. But sometimes that's what it was to be Mandalorian. Setting out on their own path. Choosing pride and honor.

"You just need to see it yourself. Until you can, just believe in me who believes in you."
