Approved Species Matron

latest

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Matron
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Valrar
  • Average Lifespan: 85 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: In appearance, Matrons appear to be a more regal looking, and slightly bigger, version of the species of Sithspawn known as Surgeons. Chitin has grown across their heads into almost a horned headdress while the shape of the head and jaws have also become more streamlined. The more insect like extra limbs of their lesser sisters have mostly disappeared, replaced by tentacle-like growths instead that can extend out at their command.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average Height of Adults: 3.5 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: 4 meters
  • Skin color: Various shades of purple and pinks with brown chitin covering their torsos. Their thoraxes can range in color from darker greens to darker blues depending on their age and region.
  • Hair color: No hair
  • Distinctions: The most distinctive physical trait of the Matrons, much like their lesser sisters, are the softly glowing thoraxes that contain and create bacta and the other various healing substances and adrenals. Besides that, each Matron or clan have a distinct design in the shape of their chitin headdresses.
  • Races: Surgeons (Linked above)
  • Force Sensitivity: Low
Strengths:
  • Much like their lesser sisters, Matrons are essentially mobile bacta producing factories due to the base Vratix specimen that was used in their creation. However, the introduction of Fosh DNA into the new Matrons has resulted in their ability to duplicate and create any chemical substance that they ingest. Whether it be some medicinal drug, a stimulant, or something a little more illegal, sections of their thoraxes become reservoirs of the substances as they can manipulate their bodily fluids to become those consumed substances. They can then secrete those fluids through their limbs, saliva, or as a gaseous cloud.
    • In this regard, they are immune to the effects of the substances they consume and secrete.
  • Like many species of spiders, and like their lesser sisters, Matrons can spit an extremely sticky web-like substance out to restrain patients or enemies that might be trying to cause them harm. Unlike Surgeons however, the webs of Matrons harden quickly into something similar to duracrete and contain a mild topical sedative that causes numbness.
  • The tentacles on their back act in the same way as the Surgeons' more insect-like limbs, with some having small razor edges to cut through tissues and bone while others have small needle-like tips to inject substances in their reservoirs into patients or subjects.
Weaknesses:
  • Direct applications of the light side, such as Force Light, can severely harm or outright kill Matrons.
  • Like Surgeons, Matrons are not designed to be on the frontline of a battle. They have very little chitin armor covering their bodies and have no true offensive capabilities, while their defensive capabilities are limited to any poisons or other substances they might be able to spew towards foes.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore (Particularly blood, amputated limbs, medicinal herbs and plants), Medicinal Drugs, Stimulants, Antidotes, other chemical substances that they believe have a beneficial effect.
  • Communication: Can speak and understand Basic and the Sith language, and they have the capacity to learn other languages as well if they deem it necessary.
  • Technology level: While they have the capacity and knowledge to use Galactic Standard technology, they much prefer their own abilities.
  • Religion/Beliefs: Similar to Surgeons, Matrons have a central belief that nothing can go to waste and have a natural proclivity to seek out substances they believe can aid their allies. Everything has some sort of purpose they think, or if the purpose is not clear, they will find it by experimenting. If a substance they have consumed has no beneficial effect, in their opinion, they will wipe the knowledge from their minds and forcefully remove it from their bodies.
  • General behavior:
    • Matrons, much like Surgeons, are a coldly analytical species, although they exhibit much more curiosity and a penchant for experimenting with substances than their lesser sisters. They have a fascination with acquiring additional substances, with Matrons delineating clans within the jungles of Valrar based upon the substances they have acquired and their bone-like chitin headdresses. The most prominent and largest clans follow, but there are also lesser clans not listed that are not as strict about what they acquire at present:
      • Dotitsi - These Matrons have dedicated themselves to acquiring and studying both natural and scientifically created healing substances. Their bone crests split into three separate horns that curl back along their heads and their thoraxes are generally a bluer color.
      • Zasa - These Matrons have dedicated themselves to acquiring and studying natural and scientifically created poisons. Their bone crests are thin with six needle-like horns.
      • Dizijatsa - These Matrons have dedicated themselves to acquiring and studying various sedatives and numbing compounds. Their bone crests are more bulbous, with two protrusions.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

As she continued to enhance some of the older Sithspawn species she and her followers had created over the years, the latest experiments of Darth Arcanix were more of a volunteer nature. She had asked some of the roving Surgeon clans if they would agree to further genetic modifications; to see if their skills and abilities could be further empowered by the introduction of another type of DNA. Some clans accepted; others declined. Those that accepted traveled to the Cradle of Secrets and the experiments began. Introducing Fosh DNA due to their uncommon ability to alter the chemical make-up of their tears into other substances, Arcanix and her followers were able to create an evolution of Surgeons they deemed Matrons.

The new Matrons were larger than their lesser sisters, and the genetic tampering had created a more varied color palette of their bodies. The Fosh DNA that was introduced did indeed grant them the ability to alter substances within their bodies, while also retaining their ability to create bacta, however they did require consuming the substance before they could replicate it. Arcanix and her alchemists and scientists furthered the genetic engineering and alchemy going into the Matrons to make sure they did not suffer any negative effects as they consumed and broke down more dangerous substances and chemicals such as poisons, sedatives, illegal drugs, and such.

The Matrons, once the experiments concluded, returned to their clans and began to experiment and collect both natural substances from the surrounding jungles and created substances from their Order of Arcane Syn creators. However, Matrons also still retain animosity towards the Whiphids of Toola that occasionally hunted and tested themselves in the jungles of Valrar due to the actions of Velok Brokentusk Velok Brokentusk .

Looks good overall, but here's the usual caution: if these get used to mass-produce a chemical that runs afoul of other rules (like the non-Annihilation superweapon ban) or looks like an auto-hit, it'll end up back here for re-review. Approved.
