OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Globex Corporation
  • Affiliation: Gellenbright Securities
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: MAT1 'Fynock' Assault Gunship
  • Modularity: Aesthetics, materials, configuration, etc.
    • The Firewatch configuration replaces the crew compartment with a compressed water tank and strips away the weapons in favour of a high-pressure nozzle. The usual water can be replaced with more efficient fire-quenching chemical compounds if necessary/desired.
    • The Custodian configuration reduces and replaces the weapons loadout with stun cannons, sonic blasters, and tear gas. It is used by law enforcement in a variety of roles, most prominently crisis response, riot suppression, and air support for prison compounds.
    • The Conveyor configuration sacrifices some or all of its weaponry for improved cargo space; it is most commonly seen moving gear or even entire vehicles to the frontlines - Globex often uses these to deposit 'Avalanche' War Droids directly into combat scenarios.
      • Many subconfigurations remove the cargo compartment to carry containers or entire walkers beneath their airframes.
    • The Preserver configuration trades its entire weapons loadout for increased speed and an impressive sensor suite. It is often used for search and rescue or even ambulance duty - as a result, it is the configuration most likely to be equipped with medical facilities.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Hexalloy.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Fynock Gunships are equipped with atmospheric containment shielding comparable to the LAATs of yore, allowing them to be deployed from orbit. They cannot reach such altitudes on their own, however, and so carriers will need to enter a planet's atmosphere to retrieve them.
  • Fynock Gunships are dotted with electronic warfare nodules affectionally referred to as 'Screamers'. The interference these devices produce makes achieving targetting locks on Fynocks rather difficult - that said, they are hardly perfect and anything but subtle. Communicators near a Fynock with active 'Screamers' tend to be flooded with white noise, though most devices are able to at least partially tune this out.
  • Temporary energy shields can be deployed as cover for disembarking infantry.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Versatile Platform: Fynock Gunships can serve as battlefield transports, police transports, search and rescue vehicles, etc.
  • Spent Munitions: Fynock Gunships in a combat configuration tend to expend their munitions quite quickly; they are designed to rush in, clear a landing zone, and deposit their cargo / passengers. Protracted engagements - especially against atmospheric fighters - is a very bad idea.
DESCRIPTION
The Fynock is Globex's all-purpose gunship, a versatile chassis with plenty of hardpoints for guided munitions. On the battlefield these vessels excel at clearing landing zones, safely disembarking their passengers, and retreating to safety - police variants, on the other hand, are more likely to loom menacingly above hostile crowds, being unafraid of prolonged engagements. After all, even the rowdiest of rioters rarely carry anti-air weapons.

Partly or wholly disarmed variants can be found ferrying cargo, responding to medical emergencies or wildfires, and even serving as taxi services on recently war-torn worlds with an overabundance of recyclable military hardware. Waste not, want not.
