PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Rakom is a true believer in the dream of re-forming the Chiss Ascendancy, and almost everything he does is motivated by that. He is a serious-minded man who has dedicated himself deeply to his studies, his physique, and his plan of finding a way to make use of the genetic heritage left to him by his father. When he undertakes a task, he becomes the task. This can leave his personal life somewhat undeveloped.

WEAKNESSES

Tends to be serious in situations demanding some levity.
His search for leaders in the Chiss community may lead him to be overly optimistic and trust the wrong person.

HISTORY

It was a time of conflict, a time of heroes, and a time of despair.

The Maw was descending upon the Chiss homeworld, and Marr'alle'murandi (Core name: Rallem) was a mid-level military officer in the Chiss Ascendancy who was given a special task.

The Chiss were a people of calculated living, carefully planned and executed. As such, they were a major utilizer of planned pregnancy and carefully selected fertilization. In-Vitro Fertilization services were a major industry for the Chiss, and millions of men and women stored fertilized embryos, waiting for the time it would be optimal to raise offspring.

When the Chiss returned to their homeworld and found it attacked, they felt compelled to defend it. But it was also realized that defeat was a possibility. As such, Operation Genetic Contingency was initiated, and Rallen- whose wife had just given birth to their son- was tasked to implement it. The plan was simple. A million fertilized embryos would be loaded onto a transport and taken away from Chiss space. Then, when it was safe, they would be taken to whatever world the Chiss assembled upon as the new seat of their government.

Rallem and his wife were intent on remaining on the Chiss homeworld to defend it. So they sent the transport away, occupied only by their newborn son, a Nanny Droid, and a Training Droid. In all likelihood, the ship would be gone for only a short time, operated by the droids and the autopilot droid brain. Their son would only need to be raised by these droids for a few days, or weeks at most. But like all Chiss, they made a contingency plan. Holotapes, skill chips, and a large library was uploaded into the ship's computer. The nanny droid could rear their son, if necessary, until he was several years old. The training droid could teach him from the skill chips in general educational topics as well as combat, piloting, and other adult arenas. Their son could be raised to adulthood by the droids. Indeed, the same skill chips and library could be used to raise the cargo of embryos, if a place was ever found where the Chiss Ascendancy could raise them.

But none of this would ever happen, surely. No... the Chiss Ascendancy would have a safe seat of power shortly...

Rakom is now thirty years of age, raised on propaganda by droids, imbued with full faith and commitment to the Chiss Ascendancy, waiting for some way to reform his lost government, and seeking a leader who might re-unite the Chiss. Meanwhile, he operates the transport ship as a free trader, earning the money needed to keep it in good repair so that he can continue to carry the genetic legacy of the Chiss people.
