DESCRIPTION
The 'Vector' Chiss Interceptor is a starfighter designed and built by the Chiss Ascendancy, specifically designed to quickly close with and engage hostile forces as soon as they are detected. The interceptor is armed sufficiently to deal with vehicles and ground troops via strafing attacks, or enemy starfighters and light freighters using its laser cannons. However, it has no armament capable of seriously harming a shielded capital ship. Its high speed design comes at the cost of maneuverability. The intention of the designers was that the fighter would quickly close with and eliminate an enemy force on the first pass.

However, the ship has an innovative capability designed to compensate for its mediocre maneuverability. By utilizing micro-jumps in combat, it is able to jump away after a failed pass, giving it time to turn around before closing with the target again. In fact, the use of microjumps, as pioneered by Chiss Force Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo, allows a variety of intriguing combat maneuvers.

In case the maneuverability should prove a detriment, the ship is also lightly armored and equipped with a variety of defense systems including ECM, Flares, and Chaff.

Notably, the Constellation class Medium transport was specifically designed to dock efficiently with this interceptor. While other starfighters can dock in a similar fashion, none so perfectly merge with the Constellation's hullform.

Few of these interceptors still operate in the galaxy, due to the destruction of the Chiss homeworld. However, Chiss faction leaders possess the blueprints and have the necessary authorizations to manufacture additional models, strictly for sale to Chiss operators.
