WEAKNESSES
The CAP-50 was a limited-production weapon employed by the Chiss Ascendancy, which attempted to use their Spectrum Laser System on a small scale. Miniaturizing the technology was expensive, and so the weapon was never manufactured in very large numbers. However, a few of these weapons can still be found in the galaxy, carried by Chiss who evacuated or escaped the destruction caused by the Maw. Some members of the Chiss mid-level leadership smuggled out designs for a large quantity of Chiss military designs, and as a consequence these weapons are still sometimes manufactured by subsequent Chiss factions.

Despite costing as much as three regular blaster pistols, the CAP-50 is quite effective. Its sensor unit identifies the target material and adjusts the laser frequency for optimal effectiveness. The resulting laser emission is very effective against virtually any material. Unlike blaster weapons, this weapon uses no gas canisters, requiring only a power-cell. The laser is also low recoil, and even this minimal recoil can be mitigated by the use of an extendable shoulder support and foregrip. The weapon cycles quickly, with an autofire option making it suitable for engaging multiple targets.

The weapon does have some notable deficiencies. The Spectrum Laser system is heavy and bulky, making the pistol slow to draw and difficult to conceal. In addition, the laser system is ineffective against Electrostatic Barriers, including ray shielding.
