SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Phrik-A construction with Alusteel surrounding components and polymer coverings at the grips/points of contact keep the weight of this weapon system down to only 14 kilograms for the tube. Each round weighs in at 5 kilograms. Increased weight is due to the reinforced nature of this weapon system compared to the standard M3. Weight savings is brought in with use of Phrik-A construction. This gives the launcher itself an extremely robust construction. This allows this weapon system to be utilized in a variety of roles from orbital insertions, paratroops, or even shock troopers on the ground. Whatever the situation, the MAAWS Mod 2 will serve.
  • Various rounds can be fitted into the launcher, most of them recoilless rifle rounds however a few missiles have been made for the launcher as well. Recoilless Rifle Rounds are as follows (* denotes it is available in two stage missile munitions as well):
    • High Explosive Variable Fuse - Contact Fuse (default), Radar Fuse, Radar Delay Fuse, Contact Delay Fuse
    • High Explosive Anti-Tank* - Single Charge (default), Tandem Charge, Squash Head
    • High Explosive Dual Purpose* (HE with a fragmentation shell)- Cluster Rounds (Good for AoE), Single Charge (Default, good against larger targets)
    • Ionite-A Cannister Rounds* - Cluster Charge (breaks into smaller sub munitions good for AoE), Single Charge (Default, one large munition Single Targets)
    • Thermobaric Rounds* - Half Charge (Good for clearing buildings), Full Charge (Bringing the building down)
    • White Phosphorous* - Smoke Generating (concealment), Incendiaries
    • Kinetic Penetrator* (Dart only in missile) - Flechette Rounds (for groups), APFSDS Dart (for heavy enemy armor)
  • Main drawback of the M3 MAAWS has been solved with the inclusion of salt water disks into every round making it possible to fire this weapon from enclosed positions safely. That being said it is not recommended to do so more than 3 times in a short period of time without proper protective gear for the shock.
  • Two stage missile munitions have a low power primary charge that essentially launches the missile far enough away from the tube to engage the missile motor safely. Once missile motor is engaged, the missile will guide itself to target.
  • Fire Control System incorporates Technologies from Eagle Eye Targeting/Fire Control Systems, making it possible for the gunners utilizing this weapon system to be able to utilize a wide variety of rounds with accurate targeting/tracking. Targeting system takes out the guess work as each round carries with it an electronic identifier with the specific round type on it, letting the system know exactly what it is shooting. This allows for the ballistic computer to calculate exactly the initial angle of fire, trajectory of the round, speed in the air, and effects of environmental conditions on the round. In cases of rounds being damaged, or this tag system simply not working, the soldier can either manually select the round type on the launcher, or cycle through a series of manual targeting reticules.
  • Missile technology in the launcher borrows design features from the Eagle Eye system and the MLMS Zeus allowing for the missiles to utilize multi-lock technology, making standard attempts to defeat the missile much less effective, and the missiles more accurate. This also allows for the gunners to instead of having to lase the target every time, be able to just "fire and forget" the missiles, allowing them to engage more targets faster.
STRENGTHS
  • Hits like a Super Star Destroyer being rammed into you: This thing fires massive 95 mm Cased ammunition or missiles at you designed to either kill tanks, wipe out infantry, or even bring down low flying aircraft. These round accomplish this with a variety of warheads with specialized features and very specific capabilities to accomplish their objectives. This allows gunners utilizing these weapon systems to have a wide variety of options to engage, disable, and possibly even destroy targets with the highest level of effectiveness possible.
  • Reliability: This weapon system's design makes it super reliable, able to perform on a variety of most if not all worlds and perform all basic functions and most advanced ones. And while the fire and forget missiles may not always work depending on the environment or enemy's you face, the basic rounds will work every time. In a profession where reliability counts, the MAAWS delivers.
WEAKNESSES
  • You have one shot: This recoilless rifle has one of the same issues as its predecessor which is, it can only carry one round at a time, and without a second person takes time to reload. That means you have to make every, shot, count. Because in a life or death scenario (say you're fighting a tank, tank droid, or just something particularly nasty) you may only get one shot before having to figure out what your next move is before you get vaporized.
  • Larger Weapon system: This thing isn't small. And while it has no recoil, it will stand out like a sore thumb to anyone unless you are on a battlefield. Even being caught behind this thing when it shoots, while no longer lethal, is going to feel like someone hit you with a concussion grenade. It is a heavy weapon system meant to kill tanks, and if you don't treat it as such, it will kill you.
DESCRIPTION
Based on the original MAAWS system developed and fielded by The Dire Wolves, the Mod 2 features a lot of the same construction designs, construction methods, and even firing systems of the original but with new materials, technologies, and even larger, more powerful and vast variety of rounds. Utilizing a Phrik-A/Alusteel alloy firing tube, this weapon system while being larger and heavier than the original MAAWS is still a relatively light package for a such a heavy hitting weapon system, while ensuring an extremely tough and reliable construction. It's sight aperture allows for the weapon to automatically detect which type of round is loaded into the weapon system, and give the gunner a targeting reticule with the proper ballistics markings to ensure the most accurate shots possible. Combine this with a laser range finder/laser designator, and a trained gunner, and you have an extremely formidable weapon on any battlefield. Destroy tanks, ruin walkers, absolutely annihilate infantry with ease, whatever your target the MAAWS Mod 2 has a round for the job. And with firepower like this, with such unmatched reliability of operation, with extreme levels of ballistic accuracy, you'll be hard pressed to find a better heavy launcher in any arsenal.
