ADVANCED SYSTEMS

  • Detachable Cockpit: A standard feature across Karavin Concern's entire line of small civilian ships, the M1's cockpit can be detached from the starfighter, featuring its own power supplies and small thrusters, enabling it to function as an escape pod in the event of catastrophic damage
STRENGTHS
  • Resilient: Outfitted with military-grade armor and simple, easy to maintain internal systems, the M1 'Razor' is a highly reliable and resilient starfighter, requiring very little in the way of periodic maintenance in order to remain in fighting shape
  • Considerable Firepower: Intended to go head-to-head against pirates equipped with starfighters and small corvettes, the M1 is outfitted with a pair of rapid-fire laser cannons and four Basilisk interceptor missiles mounted on wing pylons, giving it considerable firepower
WEAKNESSES
  • Civilian Grade Systems: Intended for the civilian market, the M1 features 'stripped down' electronics and internal systems, thus requiring more time to lock onto a target and lacking the more sophisticated systems of a military starfighter
  • Bulky: Outfitted with military grade armor plating and heavy armament and lacking military grade maneuvering thrusters, the M1 suffers from poor performance when it comes to maneuverability
DESCRIPTION

A dangerous and lawless place, the Unknown Regions are a hostile environment for trade and shipping. In the wake of the First Order's collapse, bands of slavers, pirate groups, criminal organizations and Ssi-Ruuvi raiding fleets roam freely across this portion of the galaxy. As such, merchant ships require adequate escort in order to safely conduct their business, creating a market for a reliable, cheap starfighter that can effectively counter pirates and other similar threats.
Seeking to establish a firm foothold within this new market, the Kalidani military-industrial conglomerate Karavin Concern has begun developing a line of starfighters for civilian use. The first of these is the M1 'Razor', a multirole starfighter which has found great success across the Unknown Regions due to its affordable price, heavy firepower and ease of maintenance.
The hull of the M1 bears a superficial resemblance to the venerable X-Wing, however all similarities are superficial. Designed for easy maintenance, the Razor's S-foils are fixed and its power plant consists of the three engine design that is shared by all of Karavin Concern's civilian-grade ship designs. Its armament consists of a pair of rapid-fire laser cannons and a set of four Basilisk interceptor missiles mounted on pylons under the wings. The missiles give the Razor a significant edge against other starfighters, particularly the makeshift "Uglies" often employed by pirates, slavers and minor criminal groups, giving it a deadly reputation. It is also outfitted with military grade armor plating, as well as a hyperdrive, fully-pressurized and detachable cockpit which can double as an escape pod and an astromech droid bay compatible with most common astromech droids for hyperspace jump calculations.
Due to its characteristics, the M1 'Razor' has seen great success throughout the Unknown Regions, being produced in vast quantities and becoming a common sight throughout this part of the galaxy. Unfortunately, this also resulted in the starfighter ending up in the hands of organizations which are opposed to the Eternal Empire, such as the Eclipse Rebellion, as well as other groups such as the Agents of Chaos and even foreign nations, a number of them ending up in the hands of various elements of the Outer Planets Alliance. So far, the Empire's efforts to put an end to these acquisitions, have been unsuccessful, as the Imperial authorities have been unable to prevent the resale of these starfighters to third parties.
