SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Eagle Eye Targeting Systems and high powered servos on board this vessel make it able to target a variety of enemy air and light ground vehicles. Utilizing the ability of the Eagle Eye System to develop target locks based on a variety of sensors, from literally just sight and a laser range finder, to radar signature and even thermal signature, this allows for the most comprehensive target locking system out there. On top of this the Eagle Eye system allows for the programming of advanced flight tracks for its SIM-01 Havoc missiles, meaning this vehicle can be engaging an enemy target in one direction, the commander can get another target lock on an enemy in a complete other direction, and fire those missiles on a flight path to lock on and intercept the enemy fighters. This sets this apart from standard AA platforms as this thing has more than a couple nasty surprises for some poor pilots who underestimate it.
  • Lighter spaced armor still provides this vehicle excellent protection from a variety of attacks, however this protection isn't as great as some of the other hover based vehicles due to not as many layers being presented. This however will still give it great protection against indirect and area of effect attacks allowing for it whether most of them, and force the enemy to actually have to directly engage the vehicles.
  • FIE-1 Engines allows this vehicle to move very well and quickly across almost any terrain, including water, giving it the ability to respond and redeploy to hot zones at a moment's notice. This is great for a AA vehicle as this allows them to deploy to a zone, do their job, and when they finish up they can just speed along to the next zone with a rapid pace rather than having to worry about terrain or a slow movement speed.
STRENGTHS
  • Fast and mobile AA platform: This tank has the ability to move quickly to keep up with whatever ground based cavalry unit you've got, whether they're scout walkers or dedicated fast attack hover tanks. These AA guns will keep up and provide excellent AA cover when they get to their positions to engage the enemy. And given that these guns can target even enemy munitions with good effectiveness, I would definitely keep more than a few of them around.
  • Well rounded defense: The spaced armor on these tanks has the ability to absorb, minimize and even straight up tank a lot of damage. And while this armor isn't near as thick as what standard Hover Tanks carry to defend themselves against ground/air based weapons, these tanks aren't meant to be front line units actually soaking up damage. They're meant to redeploy fast to a location, and intercept enemy air craft that are trying to attack your ground forces.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a front line unit: This vehicle while it can certainly take those laser cannons and turn them on enemy infantry and light vehicles, isn't meant to be in front line combat. It's not like your standard tank that can trade blows with medium-heavy vehicles/walkers and come out of a rock 'em sock 'em match the winner. It's designed to engage enemy aircraft, and some light vehicles ground side to defend itself or possibly surprise someone with an ambush. But do not, under no circumstances, put this vehicle out by itself and expect it to hold its own. Because any commander worth their weight will smash the thing and now you suddenly have no air defense.
DESCRIPTION
With the rapid militarization of the Surric System, the SLDF came to Freebirds Industries with the need for an Anti-Aerospace platform capable of hitting targets that were not only trying to deliver close air support, but also strategic assets attempting to deliver long range attacks. Enter, the Phalanx. This hover tank is specifically designed with one thing in mind. Make enemy pilots cry. This thing carries aboard two Deimos Laser Cannons, which have been linked to fire individually in rapid succession to increase the overall system's fire rate. These cannons with the on board Eagle Eye Targeting System can even engage enemy munitions such as missiles, mortars, and proton weaponry such as torpedoes and bombs. And it can do so with great success. Then for enemies at range, this tank carries the MLMS Zeus and SIM-01 Havoc missiles. These missiles being specialized at fighter/bomber interception are perfect with the Eagle Eye system, as the commander of the vehicle is able to utilize his own targeting system to lock onto targets independently of the gunner, and once locked program the missiles with the exact enemy profile, direction and speed of the attacker, and then fire the missiles on an intercept path preset from the vehicle. This allows for the missiles to fire in the complete opposite direction of what the turret is aiming, making for a deadly surprise for an enemy pilot trying to sneak up on this vehicle. And while this doesn't have the combat armor to fight directly on the front line, the vehicle still has extremely good protective armor to defend against all types of threats.
