SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Security Pylons are typically ~3-metre tall metallic cylinders forming the outer perimeter of a facility or colony - the 'tighter' the perimeter, the harder it is to breach the power fence. The same machinery can be integrated into a hallway instead - typically feature power gate projectors on the side and a retractable weapons system in the ceiling. Regardless of configuration, the 'head' or weapons projector is rotatable.
  • Security Pylons can double as Firebee hives, deploying swarms of the tiny battle droids to repel or hunt down trespassers.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Sentinel: Security Pylons restlessly surveil their surroundings for threats, responding to incursions within a fraction of a second.
  • Enduring: Security Pylons are constructed from sturdy materials supported by an energy shield; a necessity due to their immobility.
  • Stationary: Security Pylons are built into the ground/walls and must typically be dismantled to be moved, unlike more mobile defences.
DESCRIPTION
'Ordinator' Security Pylons are stationary, autonomous defence systems developed to defend colonies and military outposts. Their compound beam laser is reminiscent of a LAAT's 'orb weapons' - such beams may well be able to scythe light infantry in two or seriously damage vehicles, especially if firing in concert. Despite this, their stationary nature is a vulnerability; support is recommended for pitched battles, perhaps from Skyhornets.

Variants of the regular pylons can be found securing high-priority checkpoints in military bases, bank vaults, and aboard starships.
