Character
Hi! So, I bet you've seen a lot of the stuff I've been doing on my various characters for the Rimward Trade League. We've got a good group of smugglers, hotshot racers, and spacefaring scoundrels already, and are always looking for more, but this is for a different type of spacer stories. You know, the kind that boldly go. Now, I'm quite biased, but I really like the idea of the Rimward Rescue Service and its unique take on space forces in Star Wars.
So, I made Vera here, newly commissioned in the Rescue Service, and assigned her first command- RRS Frontier's Hope, a Sparrow-class picket ship, operating as a patrol vessel on the space lanes between Susefvi and Svivren, both for revenue enforcement, safety inspections and search and rescue for ships in distress. I want to put a group of writers together who write the various crew aboard the vessel for a longer-term, character-driven story as they respond to threats and crises as one of the first ships of the Rescue Service and the first time working together, through episodic threads and some longer-term arcs we can work on developing together.
Very much a Star Trek/ Honor Harrington feel to these sorts of stories, I think, rather than Firefly or Traveller that are more common with the Merchant-Marine. I think it'd be a lot of fun to go through these stories and follow the characters as we work our way up the ranks and structure of the Rescue Service, maybe even being promoted to bigger, newer cutter-ships, if anything happens to the Hope, which I expect will be a bittersweet moment if it goes a while.
