  • Modular Hull Plan: The design of the KS-6800 allows for the internals of the vessel to be configured by the manufacturer to the client's specifications, allowing for the installation of mission-appropriate scientific equipment

  • Made To Order: The KS-6800 is a high-end, sophisticated vessel designed for cutting-edge research. Its design allows for an extremely wide variety of scientific equipment and sensors to be fitted onto the vessel during its construction, thus creating an extremely versatile platform suitable for a wide selection of missions and scientific experiments
  • Can Take The Heat: Designed to 'boldly go where no ship has gone before', the KS-6800 is outfitted with extremely heavy armor and shielding, allowing it to withstand immense heat and pressure, giving the ship the capability to orbit much closer to a star than most vessels, or dive deep into the atmosphere of a gas giant

  • Wimpy: Designed as a scientific exploration and survey vessel, the KS-6800's armament is considered very weak, consisting only of a single point-defense turret and four missile launch tubes for defense against pirate starfighters
  • Slow And Steady: The KS-6800's extremely heavy armor and durable construction comes at the cost of speed and maneuverability, which are noticeably poor compared to most ships its size

A recent entry into Karavin Concern's lineup of civilian vessels, the 6000-series is a line of ships designed for high-end, specialist purposes such as construction, engineering and scientific exploration. Designed to perform the role of the latter, the KS-6800 'Endeavor' Survey and Exploration ship is the most expensive and sophisticated of these, intended for high-end customers with deep pockets which prefer made-to-order ships for their missions, such as large research institutes, cutting-edge R&D companies and governmental survey & cartography programs.

Advertised as a ship that can 'boldly go where no other ship has gone before', the KS-6800 is designed with capabilities that far outstrip those of normal vessels, such as the ability to orbit extremely close to a star or dive down into the atmosphere of a gas giant in order to perform scientific research. To that end, the ship is fitted with extremely heavy and durable armor plating, overlayed with a Turadium heat-resistant outer shell, supported by a Impervium-334 superstructure which is capable of withstanding extreme pressures. Although keeping with the Karavin traditional three-engine layout, the 6800's engine cluster is grouped much closer together due to its cylindrical internal configuration, a necessity of the pressures it is designed to withstand.

Intended to be configured to the client's specifications, the 6800 features a modular design, allowing for the fitting of a wide variety of sensors to be fitted within the cruciform, wing-like structures which extend from its central hull, as well as scientific equipment and high-end laboratory modules within the hull itself, based on the ship's intended mission and the research it is being commissioned to carry out, making it a highly flexible and versatile platform that is suitable for a wide selection of possible clients and their needs.

Designed as a highly specialized scientific vessel, the 6800 sacrifices speed and maneuverability, features which were not considered a high priority during its development. Its armament is also rather anemic, consisting only of a single point-defense turret and a few missile launch tubes recessed into the hull in a cruciform arrangement around the cockpit, intended only to fend off pirate starfighters and not for participation in active combat.

Selling for approximately ten million credits, plus the expenses incurred by the client's choice of sensors and equipment, the 6800 is an extremely expensive vessel produced in limited quantities and aimed at a very exclusive market.
