- Adrikobe's expression shifted, and as the music heightened, he nearly forgot to flare. It had been a long time since someone made him feel-... nostalgic.

"
A way out. That is all I need." He stated, being direct for once during their waltz, as if his gentleman persona had lost importance to him.

- He resumed dancing for a few moments, though he seemed lost in thought.

"
It's dangerous to talk here, even in my space."

- Gradually, he led them to the edge of the floor, following a pause period. They would flare once more, as Adrikobe took her hand.

"
This has been a fine evening, Ms. Valery. Thank you for the dance." His voice was filled with the same professional tone he had used when she first asked for the dance, and with that, he kissed her hand, and turned, quickly being lost among the crowd.

- However, there was more to this subtle gesture than those nearby would've been able to notice. As, Adrikobe had cleverly slipped a small comlink into her hand.
A way to commune with him on a secure channel.

- Nevertheless, he took a bit of pride in himself for that idea.

"Kiran, hello. What brings you here? Not exactly your scene."

He was pleased with the greeting and flashed a solid smile and simple and easy nod as he stood at her side. "I know, I had thought not to come. But something was telling me to go ahead put on a brave face and see what....."

Kiran shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Not trouble, but see who I could meet and perhaps make some new contacts. I have to find a way to be of some use to Makai." It was his generosity that he owe much too, granted it was an internship.

He didn't have to offer it to Kiran though. So he hoped there was some purpose in that, perhaps he would find something worth doing with his life.

Something that gave his life meaning and purpose.

"And plus I get to see you again, that's always nice. Do you come to these events often?"

"It seems we can both clean up nicely, Kharnaz. You might want to consider visiting a tailor. Do you even know how to dance?"
Kharnaz snarled, the barb clearly getting under his skin. With a subtle shake he seemed to disregard it.

"Combat and dancing are not too different. You would be surprised."

He took her hand and led her into a dance. His grip was strong, but he avoided hurting her with his claws.

"What brings you here, Kharnaz?"
"I could ask the same of you. I am here for information. My mistress seeks allies."

Kharnaz nodded in the direction of Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik

"Your partner I take it? I thought you jedi types were forbidden from attachments."

Saul gave a small shrug and a smile to Liin's question. In truth, he wasn't quite sure what he was going to do next. His past contracts with the Diachery were keeping him from just roaming around again. "Maybe, I wouldn't say it's out of the possibility if I can get all the licenses and the space to set a personal office up. I would have to want to settle down before I try it again, and that's a hard cell since I'm used to crewing starships. Who knows, maybe somebody will make that decision for me." If the Cyborg were honest with himself, that was probably the only thing that would make him stop his wanderings. Having someone like him, who was a mess of wires and flesh mixed together, seemed impossible. But he was dancing with a beautiful woman right now, something he never thought would happen, so maybe life would prove him wrong after all.

Then again, life had its twists and turns to follow, many Saul couldn't plan. One of those turns was about to happen. As they twirled around, it was like his legs just ceased to function, and you usually didn't like that to happen mid-spin on a dancefloor. Losing his balance, he started to tip over and fall. Unless Liin caught him and got him stabilized, he threatened to pull them both down to the floor in a mess of flailing limbs. At least his bony body would cushion her fall if they went down together. He was a gentleman like that.

Brow furrowed at the mention of Makai but she didn't say anything. Of some use? It sounded odd. Persephone knew he was doing one of the new pilot internship programs with Aina Holdings but she had little idea what it entailed. The program was quite different than what she had been doing underneath the Arceneau Trade umbrella.

"A brave face? There is no firing squad here Kiran."

As she spoke, Persie was gazing out in the dance floor. Quite a few couples had hit the floor but one was very intriguing. The man was speaking in a low tone to her, very enthralled she could tell. He had even gripped the womans hip, causing a small eyebrow raise from herself as if to put a you go girl out into the universe for this mystery woman.

One eye remained on the dance floor as she continued her conversation.

"Yeah it is nice to see one another again." A sip of her wine and a small nod at the mention of these events. "Yes, one of the few socially approved events I can attend. I was hoping Lady Nightmare Lady Nightmare would be here since this is her....Kingdom?.....we spoke at an event on Naboo but I haven't seen her. Hard to make friends so I was trying to follow up..."

A small pause.

"Plus its good to have a member of the family in attendance. You recognize anyone here besides myself? I certainly do not."

His response made sense. If one is to focus on ship design alone; then yes they would need the time to do so. Especially for it to be done right.

My thoughts were interrupted however as my dance partner lost his footing mid turn. It caught me completely off guard. Time seemed to slow down as we fell; yet I hadn't the strength to hold him up. Afterall, I am no athlete. I managed to fall in such a way to not hurt any sensative areas on either of us. With the time slowed down, it helped quite a bit. And once down I rolled myself off of him.

That was when the dizziness struck, immediately following time catching up. I sat myself up and leaned my head forward, pinching my nose together with my fingers and thumb.
"I require a tissue, please." This is indeed embarrassing!

Saul couldn't hide his embarrassment as he looked up into her eyes for those brief seconds that Liin lay on top of him. He hadn't expected his body to fail him like this, but those few seconds that he had to look the lovely blonde directly in the eyes almost made this embarrassment worth it, almost...

As Liin rolled off, he flexed and moved his arms, making sure those hadn't failed as well. Thankfully, they hadn't, and he was able to push himself up on his hands. Liin's voice, though, brought his attention back to her. Seeing her nosebleed, he couldn't help but wince as he hoped it hadn't happened from the fall. "Of course, just... let me sort myself out first..." Rolling the leg of his pants up, he slowly peeled down his synthetic skin, hoping he would find the problem before someone tried to bring a hoverchair over to help him. Now that... That was an embarrassment he didn't need...

Acidic smoke filled the air as he opened a compartment on his robotic prosthetic legs. It was like he thought. The neural chip connecting his legs to his brain, replacing his natural neural pathways, had shorted out. He couldn't help but groan to himself as he saw the result. "I knew I should have replaced this before I came here..." He gently pulled it out, grinding his teeth as he tried to ignore the pain the overheated chip brought to his fingers. It was no small feat.

Flicking the spent chip onto the floor, Saul plucked a new chip from his pocket and plugged it in. "Now let's see if this works..." Closing the compartment, he gave his legs a test, flexing his knees and rolling his feet to make sure everything was alright. Thankfully, it seemed that only the chip had failed, and none of the wiring. It was even more fortunate that the burnt chip didn't start a fire. The Cyborg would hate for one of the few suits he had to be ruined.

Slowly pushing himself up to his full height with his hands, the man quickly pulled the synth skin back up and power walked over to the bar, grabbed a napkin, and walked back to the most likely stunned Liin, offering her a hand if she hadn't gotten up yet. "Sorry, my limbs sometimes have work protests... I hope this hasn't ruined your night." He would have hated to ruin her evening and whatever that was now between them to come to a close early.

He had not seen it happen. Or at least he did not notice. Perhaps that had meant that others did not notice it either. For I was told that when time slowed down for me, my own movements seem to move very quickly to others. I can only hope that if anyone did notice; that they would just chalk it all up to drinking too much. Or that it was perhaps a trick of the lighting.

And as I sat there on the floor, I could not help but stare as Saul began to remove part of his skin in order to reach a malfunctioning microchip. It was both disturbing and fascinating at the same time. I have not spent much of my time around droids or people full of bionic parts; so seeing someone make such a repair on themselves was very strange indeed!

In no time at all he was on his feet and getting me a napkin for the bloody nose that I was doing my best to keep from spilling onto my dress. And thankfully Saul also helped me to my feet. Afterall I am still dizzy after what had happened. I take the napkin and quickly transfer it to my nose; and when I speak it is a little quieter than before due to the embarrassment of it all. "
Thank you. Perhaps we should leave the dance floor for now." I let him lead me through to a safe space, with ny own movements not being very quick. "And what a pair we make; both with bleeding noses. And not a single punch was thrown." I did not feel any synthetic force pulse escape me, so perhaps the only side effect will be centered on me. But I will discover whether or not that is the case later on.

Saul had noticed the strange look on Liin's face as he changed the chips out, but decided not to react to it. He was used to people gawking at him and his weird look by now, and he knew Liin probably didn't see someone like himself every day. So he wouldn't hold the weird look against her. Besides, she was embarrassed enough as it was without him adding onto it.

As he pulled her chair out on the veranda outside the dancehall, where they both could hear themselves think. As she sat down, he would lean in to whisper playfully. "Don't worry, the rest of me is mostly original." Not that he had checked. Plopping down in the seat across from her, Saul put on an impish grin as he relaxed for the first time that night. Liin had seen him for what he was and not even flinched. That had earned his respect, even if nothing came from this in the long term. "You can ask about the robot parts by the way. It's not the happiest story, but I'll tell you the tale if you want to hear it. After that, you can tell me all the plagues you created." This woman was interesting, almost as much as she was stunning, and he would learn all there was about her if it was the last thing he did.

The breath of fresh air was wonderful, even though for the moment I was not breathing through my nose. Still the coolness of the air on my skin felt refreshing.

Saul sat himself across from me after helping me to my own chair. His little quip brought an amused smile to my face, although it is sure to be obscured from my hand and napkin in front of it. He is a curious man indeed, and a gentleman to boot. That at least works in his favor, for I have not yet felt compelled to run away. But that could be for a multitude of reasons that I have not yet discovered.

"
Please do. It will be a good distraction from my bloody nose." Yet my scientific mind would not stop. Already with the thought of the bloody napkin, I find myself pondering on the possibility of using my own DNA to create a clone if sorts just to see if my synthetic abilities could be passed on through genetics. It is not as though I plan to do so, but the curiosity is there. But I should not get too far ahead of myself, for I have far too much to learn about the extend of these synthetic abilities and side effects as it is.

"A brave face? There is no firing squad here Kiran."

"You never know." Kiran voiced with a subtle hint of humor to it. He looked around as she did, taking in what was before them. The state of the ballroom, dancing, smiles and everything in between.

"Plus its good to have a member of the family in attendance. You recognize anyone here besides myself? I certainly do not."

The teen did a more thorough glance at the room which honestly was pointless because other than her, Makai there wasn't anyone else that he knew here. Not even by way of reputation or anything of that sort. He didn't pay much attention to the affairs of the galaxy up until recently and even then there was so much to catch up on.

For things, he had so much work to do.

"If this is her kingdom I'm sure she will make an appearance at some point." He couldn't fathom why she wouldn't show up. Unless there was some benign mystery to her absence from this event. Kiran didn't know her at any point, but he was just merely speculating at this point.

"Perhaps a dance? If you are interested?" Kiran asked, surprised he got those words out as smoothly as he did.

Considering their past exchange had included those deadly claws, Iandre appreciated they weren't directed at her again. With a simple nod, she stopped with her barbs and focused on the conversation as her enemy extended the small olive branch as they danced.

"I am aware that combat and dancing can be similar. A different field, but both allow your partner to get to know you. Lead on, Kharnaz."

After their first meeting, Iandre only expected to encounter this man in battle. Maybe this was a different kind, and she would keep that in mind during this calm exchange of words.

"We are here to dance and give a donation to the victims of war. What kind of allies would she expect to find in the heart of Republic territory?"

He was at all as her master, but she didn't strain to try and look up at his face. No, she kept her gaze forward and looked at the ill-fitting clothes he was wearing. Chuckling a little when he mentioned the fabled forbidden attachment, she shook her head for a moment.

"That ended nearly 1000 years ago with the fall of the Grand Republic. These days, it's allowed without a second thought."

Except for people like her. The kind that had come from those days. When he had scarred her and tasted her blood, he figured out she was of a different time, but she had not admitted it to him. She still did not, and unless he asked her about it, she wouldn't.

"Yes, he's one of the leaders of the Diarchy. The other is over there, along with his wife."

Tipping her chin in his direction, she turned her attention back to the Sith in front of her.

Saul wondered how they should approach this topic. If he told his tale the wrong way, he would take the smile off her face, and that's not something he wanted. Slowly, he eased into it, word by word. "I was created to be a bodyguard for one of the executives on Denon. They either scraped me off a speederway, out of a morgue... even I don't know the full explanation or reasoning behind my creation. For all I know, they wanted to turn their son into some robot monster for some horrible purpose. He let Liin sink that in as he glanced at the city lights beyond. His beginnings weren't something he liked to talk about, and yet he was singing it to more people than he thought would want to listen. But the beginning didn't matter to him, only the ending of his story and the contents in between.

"My first memories were being tested in a lab, a lab that I hope I put out of commission when I escaped. I escaped that place thanks to the kindness of one researcher and a bit of luck. So I count myself very lucky that I'm here with you right now." Taking in a breath, he tried to stop the bad memories from coming back, the long nights in a dark cell, the screams of pain. They hammered at his skull, making it hard to think. Steadying his mind, he turned back to Liin with a tired smile, hoping Liin. would fill the silence. "Let's hope your story is a little bit happier than mine."

I listen to Saul's story intently while also catering to my bleeding nose that seems to have stopped. His story is a strange one, but not unheard of in scientific circles. There has been many instances of newly deceased individuals gaining a new life through artificial means. For some it is a way for them to cheat death entirely. But with Saul it was not by his own request. However I do not sense any regret by him for this new life either. Instead he seems more or less thankful for it. Most especially with being in my company. I can feel myself blush a little as I try to wipe off any remainder of blood on my face. My emotional resolve seems to be cracking a little, yet I can hide that well enough I believe. At least until I can think on the matter more.

A request is made for my own tale. I take in a small breath as I keep hold of the napkin curled up in my hand before I began speaking. "
Happier? Perhaps. I was born and raised on New Cov. My parents were members of the New Cov Biomolecule Company's Board of Directors, so my childhood was a good one. I rose up in ranks within the company and the board through hard work, eventually running the company myself. I changed New Cov's constitution from a corporate democracy to a regular democracy. It was a move that I regret, for not long after that New Cov was taken over by a larger government, stripping them of the neutrality and independence that we cherish. I was exiled along with some other political figures that got in the way; including New Cov's elected Prime Minister. I severed ties with NCBC, and with High Society as a whole; turning instead to science. My newest research project garnered me much unwanted attention, including a bounty. So I had to go into hiding and live on the run for a while. But now I have sanctuary in Diarchy space. They insist that no one will be able to harm me within their territory. A big part of me believes them; yet a small part of me feels as though someone will find a way to catch me."

That was the truth of it. However I am not psychic. It had just been a nagging feeling ever since my research had begun, some of my data was stolen, and my laboratory was invaded by Jedi, Sith, Imperials, Mandalorians and more.

"This is the place where the rich and powerful scheme about everything from politics to who makes the worst kind of cheese," Jax said while he walked with Jair. "You've been a diplomat for years Jair, don't tell me you haven't met some corrupt chit who are eager to start a war. Truth be told Jair, wars are often started from the ballroom and the common person has to pay for it."

Even after all these years, Jax never got used to the high life. He was happy that Jayna Ismet-Thio Jayna Ismet-Thio never got used to it as well, he was pretty that one of his lessons was sticking to her or maybe she was just born stubborn. Either way, Jax was happy that Jayna never forgot to help others. "I do," Jax said holding a box. "I forgot what was in here anyway."

As he sat back and listened to Liin's story, Saul thought it made sense in his head; she was a highly driven person with a high sense of morality. That was something he could admire and even aspire to be. Saul was even trying not to be jealous of her normal upbringing since his was anything but. Yet wasn't it that people's upbringings were better than his? Still, he reached under the table to put his hand on hers in sympathy as he said, "We all make mistakes. Besides, I don't think you could have controlled that situation, no matter how hard, it was out of your hands.

Saul tried to get the convo back to happier thoughts. Guess I have a reason to be in Diarchy space more often now, and you got a reason to stay by my side. Besides, who would mess with these guns?!" Giving a playful pose with his mechanical muscles, he couldn't help but smile. This is the first time he had felt true happiness in a long time, and he assumed he was the same for Liin. The Cyborg only hoped they could keep this momentum going.

It was then that Saul burst into loud laughter without prompting at the thought of something. "Sorry... I just imagined you swinging through the treetops on New Cov like some sort of wild woman, animal skin dress and all. But that wouldn't be like you, would it? I'm gonna have to teach you to let loose after this if there is a next time." Saul took in a breath, considering their suggestion before finally letting it out of his mouth. "You know, you could probably go back to visit if you wanted to. I don't think the new High Republic is going to care who you are, and if your parents are still there, I would think you would like to see them in something other than holo form. I could even accompany you if you wanted. He expected Liin to turn this idea down, but who knows. He didn't expect her to say yes to his asking her to dance either, and yet he had surprised him and treated him like an actual human being. Maybe he could pay her back by letting her see her family again in the flesh.
