Strengths
  • Speed - Relative to its size in comparison to other 'Dreadnoughts' of similar size - Kay's Lamentation is capable of reaching higher speeds than similar vessels of size and class.
  • Electronic Countermeasure Suites - Equipped with a series of powerful Electronic Countermeasure Systems - one of which was utilized on the Death Stars - these systems aid in scrambling sensors, scanners, and other similar systems utilized in homing-based weaponry such as missiles and torpedoes.
  • Heavily Defended - Multiple Deflector Shield Generators - both primary and redundant - reinforced armor plating and armor systems, as well as a series of anti-missile and point-defensive weaponry ensures that Kay's Lamentation is a heavily protected vessel to ensure the safety of its crew and patients on board.
  • Internal Security - As an added layer of protection for the crew and patients, the vessel maintains a sizeable force of Security Droids that patrol and guard the various sections of the vessel.
  • Specialized Care Wards - As an added point of pride and to further ensure that the vessel is capable of executing its primary focus as a Hospital Ship, it is equipped with a series of specialized care wards to see to the individual and specialized needs of a number of species of the non-humanoid variety that may require a different standard of care.
  • Care Wards - Kay's Lamentation hosts a variety of standard care wards, each with their own means to control the climate to ensure that their 'regular' humanoid patients are just as comfortable in their care as their specialized cases.
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - Maintaining an ablative current that courses through the hull of the vessel, the AR-0B Armor Component assists in reducing the damage to the hull via the removal of harmful particulates and debris - this also ensures the longevity of the hull, meaning that hull plating is not required to be replaced as often.
  • GalaxyGuard Mark VII - A common component seen on a number of vessels manufactured by Von Sorenn Industries, this system provides additional endurance to a vessel's Deflector Shields. Additionally, it also extends the range of the shields, allowing for additional overlaps and to protect those areas that may have been missed by the initial field's range.
  • Non-Standard Atmosphere Production Plant - As a means to ensure the care for their more specialized cases, the vessel operates a sophisticated manufacturing plant that produces non-standard atmospheres such as Ammonia, Nitrogen, and similar gases that many Oxygen breathing species would otherwise be incapable of breathing or surviving exposure to.
  • Non-Standard Atmosphere Containment - Each of the Specialized Care Wards - and the Non-Standard Production Plant - are further protected with a series of airlocks and locking chambers to separate them and prevent exposure or the mixing of the various atmospheres present on the vessel.

Weaknesses
  • No Offensive Armaments - Kay's Lamentation is a colossal Hospital Vessel, and as such it lacks any kind of offensive weaponry in the way of missile launchers, turbolasers, etc etc.
  • No Starfighter Squadron Support - To ensure that it remains protected and retains its Hospital Ship designation, the vessel does not support any kind of Starfighter Squadrons, rather utilizing that spaces for additional support vessels such as medical shuttles, envoys, etc etc.
  • Unique - The Vessel is the only one of its kind, representing the grief that Amelia felt when she learned of Kay having passed from the galaxy into the Nether.
  • Hostile Intent Lock-Out - As an added means of protection and to prevent their defensive armament from being turned offensive - the vessel is equipped with a program that keeps the defensive weaponry shut off and locked out until hostile intent has been detected. Hostile intent in this instance is defined as an intent to attack or cause harm to the vessel; similarly, the lockout shuts off upon the detection of weapon fire - i.e. turbolasers, laser cannons, missiles - directed as Kay's Lamentation.
  • Shields Down - For the vessel to properly and safely deploy its Support Squadron compliment, it must lower its shields to prevent damage to both the vessel itself and its support craft. In these instances, the vessel is highly exposed with only the reinforced armor plating protecting the vessel.
  • Blindspots - There are a number of sections on the vessel in which its defensive weaponry cannot protect or is otherwise incapable of covering, likewise, these sections can also experience spotty or lacking coverage from its scanners and sensors.
  • Colossal - Kay's Lamentation is a massive vessel in size and thus is otherwise incapable of being missed if an individual is attempting to fire upon the vessel. In the event that you find yourself incapable of hitting the vessel with your weaponry, perhaps you should first visit the medical facilities on-board and have your organic optical receivers checked.
  • Nebulon-B Syndrome - The design of the vessel suffers from a similar design flaw of the iconic Nebulon-B Frigate - with the bridge of the vessel sitting at the end of a long, narrow connector tube that separates it from the rest of the vessel. This section - provided that a sufficient amount of damage is exhausted upon this section, it could potentially sheer away, effectively breaking the vessel in half.
  • Internal Security - The bulk of the internal security on the vessel is droid based; requiring that those that manage to board the vessel to utilize Ion Weaponry to remove the bulk of opposition potential boarders would face.
  • Non-Standard Atmosphere Production Plant - Even with the multitude of safety redundancies and containment sections near this section of the vessel and similar internal areas, there is still the chance that the non-standard atmospheres that the plant produces could leak into the vessel. In this instance, these non-standard gases could prove to be lethal to those species that breathe a more standard form of atmosphere.

Description
Upon Amelia von Sorenn learning of the events that lead to Kay Arenais passing from the Galaxy into the Nether - her grief was as such that there were only one means by which she felt she could fully and properly express that pain and sorrow she felt in the loss of - that she felt - her oldest friend. It was this event that provided the catalyst that leads to the production of Kay's Lamentation, a colossal Hospital Ship with a singular focus to continue the humanitarian and diplomatic works and efforts that Amelia remembered Kay being so dedicated to her time and effort.

As such, Kay's Lamentation is designed to further the cause of humanitarianism, with a focus on providing care for those on far-flung worlds that require aid, be it from a local disaster, a war that has devastated their planet, or other such events that have brought harm, pain, and suffering to their people. Designed with a sleek hull inspired by the shimmering Chromium covered vessels of Naboo, its overall shape shares a similar profile to that of the Nova-class Cruisers utilized by the Hapes Consortium - both of which had a hand in the design of the vessel. Internally, its stark white halls are reminiscent of the internal design see in the structures constructed by the Kamionans on their homeworld. This design was chosen to match the otherwise calming and soothing design as well as show the sterility of the environment within the vessel intended to ensure the health and longevity of its patients.

The vessel itself maintains an impressive defensive array, with a series of Deflector Shield Generators and Redundant Backup Generators to ensure that the vessel is always protected. This line of defense is further augmented with reinforced armor plating along the hull - focused predominately around the patient's wards - as well as a number of Electronic Countermeasure Suites and defensive weaponry such as Anti-Missile Octets and Point-Defense cannons. The latter systems are equipped with a Hostile Intent Lock-Out program, preventing them from being turned into Offensive weaponry - which requires that the system itself detects a hostile intent from an outside source - such as a weapons lock, the detection of missiles having been launched, or similar stimuli that would set off the system.

Internally the vessel contains a number of wards that are designed to assist in the recovery and overseeing the wellbeing of the patients on-board; with such wards also included specialized care wards that are designed specifically for those that breathe a non-standard atmosphere - such as ammonia in the case of Gands. These rooms are contained to prevent the atmosphere from entering the rest of the vessel - while the vessel itself contains a non-standard atmosphere production plant which is dedicated to the production of gases that are considered lethal to oxygen-breathing species though are vital to the survival of species that do not breathe oxygen. In these cases, medical droids - or similar species - oversee the care in these sections. Though it goes without saying that the presence of such a production facility on the vessel presents a clear and present danger with the possibility that the containment procedures and sections could fail, resulting in these non-standard gasses leaking into the rest of the vessel. Further protection to the patients is provided in an ample security force that is stationed on the vessel - which assists in a number of means from watching over dangerous patients that may be suffering from an unknown pathogen or drug to assisting elderly patients to find their beds. While there is an organic force of security officers on the vessel, the bulk of the security forces are Droids or HRDs - this in itself can prove to be a drawback, as a dedicated party of individuals that have managed to board the vessel needs only Ion weaponry to immobilize or destroy the bulk of the security force present on the vessel.

The primary focus of the vessel, however, is that on Humanitarian and Diplomatic means, owing to its large number of care wards and conference rooms - likewise, it carries and supports a vast number of support vessels, capable of supporting more than one-hundred such support squadrons. In turn, this means that the vessel is incapable of supporting any kind of combat squadrons - nor does it carry any such Starfighter, Interceptor, or Bomber squadrons to ensure that it is not labeled as a warship while attempting to render aid to the planets that it is visiting.

All in all, Kay's Lamentation is both a manifestation of grief as well as a representation of those efforts that were chaired and spearheaded by a woman - whose own life had its highs, lows, and brushes with both the Light Side and Dark Side of the Force - to carry on her legacy and spirit in the Galaxy.
