Not only is the school directly located in a wide open plain, but it also has more than enough landing pads, ports, and docking bays for thousands of people. This is not only because of the amount of students that attend the school, but also because of the Universities role as a general educator of the populace.
The Kalinda School Board has worked hard to make the University as accessible as possible, and although particular grades and tuition is required to attend classes, anyone and everyone can visit the school. The Archives of the University are entirely open to the public, as is the research done within it's laboratories. Kalinda University seeks to more than just educate it's students, but wishes to help the galaxy as a whole.
As such Kalinda University actively opens itself up to the populace and encourages visits by all.

The school sits smack dad in the middle of a grassy plain, there are no shield generators, defensive emplacements, or anything of the sort around for miles. Kalinda is not a defensible location, nor does it ever seek to be. There is nothing that says 'military' about the University itself, and instead the school relies on the goodwill of others to protect itself. Of course this is aided by it's various donors who seek to protect their investment.
Despite this lack of security, Kalinda does employ a small force of campus police. This is mostly to ensure that students don't get too rowdy and to handle any situation that might require police attention.

The reason for this expansive size is that Kalinda University was meant to be the premiere education facility in the mid rim. Dozens of patrons and individual donations have poured in from around the galaxy, allowing Kalinda to grow and become a campus large enough to sustain thousands of students, hundreds of researchers, and everything else one could imagine from such a place.
The campus itself features everything from classrooms to the standard dorm rooms, everything designed to perfectly suit the students and faculty. There is clearly a certain 'standard' that is maintained at Kalinda, and although everyone is accepting it is clear that high expectation reign upon the Campus itself.
It's location is part of what makes Kalinda so unique. Instead of being situated in the middle of a city or near a town, Kalinda is thrown right in the middle of a set of great plains. Squished between massive grasslands and a huge lake, the University Campus provides year around warm temperatures and excessively beautiful views. It is clear that both the Patrons and those that run the school care a great deal about the schools appearance.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Main Hall: As it sounds, the Main Hall of Kalinda University is the central building of the entire establishment. This is the first place that students, visitors, and faculty come to when first arriving at Kalinda. The Main Hall is a huge expanse, ornate and decorated with fine architecture of beautiful waves and succinct tight curves. It seems that this building was designed with beauty in mind, perfectly reflective of the university as a whole.
The Main Hall contains most of the offices of the general staff of the University. It is here that most payment and donor information is kept. Student records and the like are also held within the Main Hall. This building is one of the more important at Kalinda University, though it is hardly the largest or the most ornate. Generally the Main Hall is one of the most visited places on Campus and holds no restrictions, save for of course the containment of private information.
Arceneau Business Center: Named after it's primary donor, the Arceneau Business Center is the place on campus to be for nearly all classes related to economics and the expansion of commerce.
Nearly everyone that attends Kalinda University generally ends up in the Arceneau Business Center for one class or another, most majors requiring some sort of class. Whether it be Macro Economics or Business 101, generally everyone at least visits this building once or twice a year for a class. This was not done entirely on purpose, but is just a result of how the education at Kalinda University actually works, after all, nearly all walks of life are touched by galactic Commerce.
The Arceneau Business Center itself is a beautiful and very open design. Large windows and a shifting roof allows the sun to fall into the building itself at almost all times, keeping the building well lit and allowing to maintain a certain air of openness even when the doors are all closed. The building also features several dozen solar panels decorating it's roof and is one hundred percent energy efficient.
Amadeus Library: Like the Arceneau Business Center, the Amadeus Library is named after it's primary donor. Larger than most of the other buildings on Campus, the Amadeus Library stretches for what seems an almost impossible amount of square footage, containing thousands upon thousands of records, books, scrools, and of course a vast digital archive.
The contents of the Library have been sourced from all over the galaxy, including several donors and patrons as well as information found at the Arceneau Archives. The Library itself is almost always occupied by someone, holding both students and researchers. Despite this occupancy a calm lull always hangs over the Amadeus Library, and there are small 'reading nooks' dotted all over the structure itself.
Pyne Music Hall: The Pyne Music hall is one of the greatest sources of pride for the Kalinda School Board.
Named after it's primary donor family, the Pyne Music hall is a wondrously arched structure located at the very edge of then campus. The building was placed further away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the school, giving it's surroundings a perfect sense of calm. The structure was clearly built with acoustics in mind, it's ceilings and hallways carrying sound to an almost unbelievable degree. Surrounding the building is a perfectly groomed micro-forest, cared for by the groundskeepers.
The building, like the Arceneau Business Center, is one of the most attended at the University, albeit for different reasons. The Pyne Music Hall has produced and often hosts some of the finest musicians in the entire galaxy. Often the music hall holds different concerts and concertos, displaying everything from Mon Calamari operas to the finest Corellian sing along. The Pyne Music Hall is famed for it's productions and is a huge draw to students and visitors.
Nikias Recreation Building: The Nikias Recreation Building was named after not it's donor, but instead a close friend of the person who donated a healthy sum for the structure. The Recreation Building, as it's name implies, is a place for students and faculty to blow off steam. The building itself represents a sort of safe haven for those who work and live on campus itself.
Constructed as a means of allowing the various attendees of the university to cut loose, the Recreation Building features everything from swimming pools to bars and restaurants. The structure is incredibly important, and many people on Campus advocate it's use as a way to relieve stress and allow themselves to actually live a little while undergoing the stress of studying.
Kuhn Science Building: The Kuhn Science building is named after the founder of Vanir Technologies and Primary Donor Alric Kuhn. As one might suspect the Science Building is devoted entirely to the research, development, and teaching of various sciences. From Physics to Chemsitry, the Kuhn Science building holds both laboratories and classrooms that educate and explore these subjects to their deepest lengths.
Built at the same time as the Arceneau Business Center, the Kuhn Science building shares some of the same design concepts as it's sister structure. Harsh lines and open windows illuminate the inside of the building, though unlike the Business Center the Science Building also features dozens of underground laboratories. This is mostly to allow for more space, and gives researchers as well as students a place of more privacy.
Though expansive, the Kuhn Science building is not the largest single structure on Campus.
Despite this fact however the Kuhn Science center is a large part of ongoing research at Kalinda University, and works closely with several other 'branches' of the school itself. The research that is done here often goes on to becoming large breakthroughs in science galaxy wide.
Var Nabba Art Center: Named after a rather mysterious donor, the Var Nabba art center is interestingly enough one of the most unique buildings on Campus.
The Art Center is one of the few single story buildings on Campus, though it makes up for it's lack of height with it's sprawling square footage. The Art Center seems to reach out to half a dozen different corners, spidering out into the campus around it and giving the more artistically inclined more than enough space to practice whatever they wish.
It is clear that the Art Center is one of the cornerstones of Kalinda, and though many might ignore it compared to the Science or Business center, it is still a point of pride for the planet and school board.
Dashiell Agricultural Research Center: Like the other structures, the Dashiell Agricultural Research Center is named after the primary donor behind it's creation. The funds for this structure, and indeed the research it conducts, was provided by Judah Dashiell.
The Agricultural Research Center, as it's name implies, is based entirely around the study of fauna around the galaxy. The ARC, as students nickname it, is the single largest structure on Campus. Sprawling for several square kilometers the massive dome like structure reaches up into the sky and covers enough ground to be a farm all on it's own. Almost every kind of plant is grown within the ARC, and of course subsequently studied. A great amount of effort has gone into making this building on the cutting edge of agricultural research.
Other: Beyond the above listed buildings are dozen more locations.
The Campus itself is significantly larger than most Universities and this is owed to the fact that the school holds many wealthy donors. Though several have only a single building named for them, they donate far more than just the cost of a single structure. Danger Arceneau, Alric Kuhn, and others have given far more money to Kalinda than just enough to put their names on some architecture.
This has allowed Kalinda to grow far beyond the usual, and as such the Campus also features several Dormitories, cafeteria's, and various buildings containing classrooms, theaters, and record halls. There are also several buildings dedicated to teaching cybersecurity and other modern applications of technology.
It is almost impossible to list all that Kalinda has to offer, though if one can find it at a university it is a safe bet Kalinda has it.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Despite it's size, Kalinda University does not have a particularly long history.
Thought it was originally founded well before the Gulag Plague, the truth of the matter was that Kalinda University was little more than a backwater secondary school until just a few short years ago.
Primarily having served as a means of further education for the various small communities on Kalinda, the University only began it's growth at the founding of the Galactic Alliance. The Reason for this was primarily due to Kalinda's lack of any marketable or significant exports.
The planetary government realized that they held no real appeal to any galactic entity and as such they would continue to flounder and really go nowhere.
This began a small initiative among the world itself and lead to various proposals. Some of them contained mining operations, industry, and other such things but eventually the citizenry held a referendum and the vote settled upon a rather surprising outcome; Education.
The people of Kalinda felt that they could make themselves useful to the galaxy by becoming a premiere educator of young minds throughout the galaxy. They decided to found a school that would welcome anyone of any creed, species, race, or belief as long as they remained peaceful. This apparently struck a cord with many of the sectors around Kalinda and before long money began to pour in.
As this movement picked up momentum patrons began to quite literally pour in. Before long Kalinda University had backing from such names as Alric Kuhn, Danger Arceneau, Judah Dashiell, and other's in the galaxy who held a tremendous amount of philanthropic wealth. With the backing of such grand names Kalinda University managed to grow to a massive size in a relatively short amount of time.
