STRENGTHS

Very Heavily Armed:
Its heavy and numerous missile and proton torpedo batteries in conjunction with a formidable numerous turbolaser batteries provide a disproportionate destructive capability for a frigate-sized vessel. The ability to cripple larger ships during the opening moments of an engagement make this vessel a welcome addition to any fleet engagement, planetary blockade or surface bombardment.

High Survivability for Class: Reinforced Beskar plating, advanced damage reduction components, and redundant shielding grant the vessel exceptional durability relative to its class, allowing it to withstand the punishing impacts of sustained enemy weapons fire, and the brutal rigors of prolonged combat.

Hit And Run: The Jehavey'ir has the ability to keep its weapons charged even in hyperspace giving it the ability to jump out of Hyperspace, quickly unleash a devastating barrage of missile and laser fire and jump back into hyperspace before hostile vessels are able to return meaningful fire.

Bang for your Credits: Is a smaller ship requiring a modest crew to operate and maintain while possessing the ability of offensive damage output equal to ships many times its size.

WEAKNESSES

Escort Dependency:
Although heavily armed, the vessel lacks speed and maneuverability in the battlespace. The Jehavey'ir is not suited for solo deployment due to its relatively low speed and anemic maneuverability and is best fielded in conjunction with other supporting ships or starfighters.

No True Hanger: Although it has a single craft docking bay and is able to operate a small squadron of support craft, the ship does not have a proper hanger bay. Instead of a hangar the ship utilizes multiple airlocks to allow its support craft to dock with the ship. These airlocks allow troops to board and capture enemy vessels directly or transfer into shuttles or drop ships for further deployment.

Reduced Strategic Flexibility: The ships internal layout prioritizes troop capacity and weapons over modular mission systems, limiting its usefulness in reconnaissance, long-range patrol, medical and humanitarian relief missions.

Poor Firing Angles: The ship absolutely bristles with weapons but most of them are limited to a 45% forward firing angle with few emplacements being able to engage to the sides and almost none to the rear.

DESCRIPTION

Named for the Mando'a word for Ambush, ships of the Jehavey'ir-Type were originally designed by the Neo-Crusaders during the Mandalorian Wars and served with distinction in Mandalorian service for many centuries thereafter before being quietly retired from front line service though examples continued to serve in backwaters and Clan fleets up until the end of the age with a half dozen or so ultimately finding themselves in the "Red Fleet" of Clan Saandyr. Being ancient at the time they were not stationed on Mandalore at the time of the Great Purge so survived destruction and were dispersed along with the remnants of the Clan when they scattered throughout the galaxy. At that time, they were very long in the tooth but they were still able to fill the modest needs of the reduced and fractured Clan as transports, covert ships and mercenary vessels managing to soldier on a millennium past their prime.

With the return of a united Mandalore and the gathering of Clan Saandyr on Maridun, when the time came to reconstitute its fleet the Council of Elders chose to honor the service of these old vessels renovate the still sound hulls into up-to-date warships as a testament to the resiliency and longevity of the Clan. Therefore, the surviving craft have been sent to MDL for a total refit and the Company has, for all intents and purposes gutted their interiors and systems and refurbished the hulls bringing them back into serviceable condition for the current age.

True to the Jehavey'ir lineage and Mandalorian doctrine, the refurbished Vessels retain their heavy armament and irreplaceable beskar armor and now coupled with modern systems and redesigned interior spaces; these now aesthetically antiquated but modernized capitol ships are as combat capable as vessels built a millennia after the first Jehavey'ir's saw combat. Any hostile vessel attacking a Jehavey'ir MDL-Type Assault Frigate thinking it is an antiquated easy target would be in for a rude awakening.

The Jehavey'ir is a small ship that packs a big punch. As an Assault Frigate it is optimized for set piece battles rather than patrols and auxiliary missions. Its prime tactic, as its name implies, is ambush. Able to keep its weapons charged during hyperspace travel and equipped with a C-N:FA01 Navcon Computer which constantly updates the ships trajectories and course for quick pursuit or escape is coupled with an STS-84 "Artemis" Class Targeting & Sensor System which is a specialized sensor/tracking/targeting suite and an RMD-9F Anhur Droid Brain able to synthesize the data from these systems very quickly into a comprehensive targeting, attack and disengagement profile. This capability allows the Jehavey'ir to ambush its prey by jumping from hyperspace into a zone of engagement and autonomously acquire and execute an attack profile on a target with its formidable missile and torpedo batteries and process an escape vector faster than most sentient directed vessels are able to effectively react and respond.

Its design enables it not to have to sacrifice defense for offence as its armor and shielding are comprehensive and robust allowing the vessel to absorb a good deal of incoming fire. Its maneuverability is mediocre. The ships geometry allows it to quickly pivot to reorientate its facing but otherwise it is somewhat sluggish and slow in real space and in hyperspace its class 2 hyperdrive is serviceable but decidedly unremarkable.

All in all the Jehavey'ir MDL-Type Assault Frigate is a capable and economical legacy ship for a mid-sized clan. Its retro-styling and bold Saandyr livery is sure to evoke the feeling of nostalgia amongst all red blooded Mandalorians.

Note to Judge:
As the Jehavey'ir is an oddly shaped ship being taller than it is longer, I used the height as the determining metric for the ship class as it is the largest dimension of the ship. Even though it technically does not follow the rules I felt doing so would best reflect the spirit of the rules.
