SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Jedi Temple of Deorus
  • Classification: Jedi Temple
  • Location: Deorus
  • Affiliation: Jedi, Alorith Greysteel, Kingdom of Steel
  • Population: Insignificant
  • Demographics: The Jedi Temple of Deorus has a wide variety of species living in its halls. The primary population are humans and Twi'lek, with a steadily growing assortment of others coming from across the galaxy.
  • Accessibility: The Jedi Temple of Deorus is located in one of the few forests on Deorus, near the coast of the planets single continent. The forest cover is thick enough to prevent medium and large vehicles from traversing through it, limiting modes of transport to speeder bikes or aircraft. Footpaths run through the entire forest, but the confusing nature of its landscape and layout make traveling this route a hazardous prospect.
  • Description: The Jedi Temple of Deorus is built across the treetops of one of the only forests on the entire planet. Long wood rope bridges connect platforms together, creating a spiderweb from an aerial view. Wooden pillars extend from many of the trees inside the complex, projecting bright beams of light into the air at all times. At night, these beams can be seen for kilometers in every direction, and serve as a guiding light to all those who seek to come to the temple. A central building is located around the largest tree of the forest, serving as the primary seat of the Jedi on the planet.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Council Chambers: Located at the very heart of the temple, the Council Chambers serve as the seat of oversight for those leading Jedi of the temple. Here, matters of importance are discussed, be they of a political, social, or educational matter. The room itself is open to the elements, with chairs carved from the very tree itself. A crest of the Jedi Order is located at the center of the wooden platform, with small arms reaching out to touch each of the seven seats present. Four pillars connect to a roof hanging over the Council Chamber, the only protection from the elements provided.
  • Hall of Sages: The Hall of Sages is a large, domed platform located at the northern most point of the temple. Here, students and Jedi come to learn about the deeper workings of the Force in a controlled, safe environment. Several class rooms are spread out underneath the dome, which is itself surrounded by several trees. A waterfall is located at on end of the dome, with a small pond used for meditation spread out around it. The Hall of Sages also holds the collective knowledge of the Jedi on Deorus, and its library is the largest in the entire Kathol Sector.
  • Hall of Guardians: The Hall of Guardians is an open platform, built on top of two massive trees. Rather than an enclosed area like most other parts of the temple, the Hall of Guardians is just a flat platform with several dueling circles placed down, and a central classroom location. Here, those wishing to refine their lightsaber skills can come to engage against fellow students and Jedi, or the various soldiers of the Kingdom of Steel who visit the temple. The Hall of Guardians is located at the southern most edge of the temple, and serves as the primary security checkpoint for the temple.
  • Communication Center: Located inside the tree the Council Chambers are built on, the Communication Center serves as the temples primary means of communication across the planet and the wider galaxy. Dozens of technicians are working in the center at all times, and constant reports are being brought in and cataloged so that the council can keep up to date with galactic affairs and their Jedi comrades.

SECURITY-HIGH
  • The Jedi Temple of Deorus is protected at all times by a small cadre of Jedi Sentinels, individuals chosen to stand an eternal silent vigil over the complex. These sentinels are almost entirely older Jedi, some of whom have retired from their lives in other parts of the galaxy. Each one is chosen by the High King himself for the role as he travels the galaxy, and they serve as the first, and most powerful, line of defense for those in the temple. Standing by the side of the sentinels are a small detachment of Hall Guard, the personal protectors of the High King himself. This detachment of soldiers are chosen for their outstanding bravery and dedication to the cause of the Kingdom of Steel, and are willing to lay down their lives for the people who represent all they believe in. Last among the defenses of the temple is a squadron of starfighters located in a hangar not far from the temple, ready to deploy as air cover at a moments notice.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Jedi were a known entity to the people of Deorus long before the temple was ever built. While isolationist, the people of the world had long heard of the exploits of the mighty warriors of peace and justice as they fought across the galaxy. A few select citizens from Deorus were even chosen to join the Jedi Orders of the past, but this all came to an end following the Gulag Plague. Shut off from the rest of the galaxy and violently hostile to all outsiders, the people of Deorus did not see or hear of the Jedi for nearly four hundred years. It was not until their new High King, Alorith Greysteel, set out from the planet as the new Seeker that they began to hear new stories of the stalwart warriors.

When Alorith made one of his many returns to Deorus, he did not come alone. With him were three Jedi Masters, each one an ancient and revered member of the various orders of the galaxy. They had heard the High Kings plans for the future of the Outer Rim, and his goals for the galaxy at large, and had agreed to come to Deorus to aid him in his efforts. With the support of the entire planet, the Jedi Temple of Deorus was constructed, and the three Jedi Masters with the High King took their places as its first Council. Since then, the temple has slowly begun to take on new students. At first, it was mostly children of Deorus who were chosen, making the perilous journey through the forest to the temple, but in time more came. As Deorus opened up to the galaxy, wandering Jedi began to frequent the temple, and in time a small community had formed. New members of the Council were chosen, and the temple began to come to life.

Now, the Jedi Temple of Deorus serves as the primary seat of influence for all Jedi inside the fledgling Kingdom of Steel. New knights are trained here to take up the cause of the Kingdom across the galaxy, and the finer points of the Force are delved into. The temple has quickly developed to be the highest seat of learning on all of Deorus, and many noble families have even begun to send their non-force sensitive children to receive the best education within its many halls.
