Jabiim

Rayliav'enci

If I was green, I would die.
Located on the Mara Corridor, Jabiim is a depleted ore world that was historically geographically unique: it was a muddy mess.

Jabiim is constantly barraged by electrical storms that render repulsorlifts inoperable, the planet gets so much rain that it is prone to regular mudslides that shift the surface of the planet.

Even so, the people of Jabiim have been subject to brutal hostilities in the past without much aid. Now that the resources have been used up, the rest of the galaxy has been quick to forget the world.

However, the Coalition believes it can breath new life into the world. With the establishment of a trade center, a medical compound and a military training base to help the Jabiimi people defend themselves, the Coalition hopes to turn around the once forgotten world.

So far the Jabiimi people have been hesitant. They were ignored during the Galactic Empire however in the last almost thousand years, much has changed in the galaxy.

Possible objectives:
  • Meet with hospital administrators to help finalize plans for a regional medical center.
  • Conduct training drills with the locals to help them build a military base.
  • Attend a reception with planetary leaders in Choal regarding increased security for the trade center, new business partnerships and diplomacy with the Coalition.
  • Pirates have been striking out at ships passing through local systems, including a recent hit on a Coalition ship near Saleucami. Intel has tracked the group to an abandoned mine out in the mudflats. Bring them in for justice.

For future consideration? Thoughts? Questions?

3. Discuss security with planetary governors relevant to the new trade center in Chaol.
4. Attend a reception with planetary leaders to solidify the new alliance with the Coalition.
5. Meet with company representatives of businesses from the marketplace to help establish trade and bring in new business.
I feel like these can all be one objective. There's really no need for three objectives where all you do is talk. :p

Looks good otherwise, [member="Rayliav'enci"]! :)

I remember in a previous dom, Saleucami I think it was that pirates had attacked her ship that came from this planet, so maybe add an objective in to include them?

They were just generic pirates with not set group attachment but that does not matter..

Just a thought to add to the list of objectives for more to do..

looks good however!

Thanks guys! I know we've got Tash-Taral going and a couple others here being discussed so Jabiim can totally wait until we've cleared the others.

Yeah, looking at it now, those objectives could be one large reception, and courting a couple businesses from the Factory marketplace to come discuss terms with a trade center means we won't just be talking with NPC's. I'll make some inquiries if anyone is interested in joining the talks when we get a little closer to putting this one up.

Pirate hunt sounds great too! I'll make the edits to the proposal.

Alright, I decided to turn this up to eleven. Strap in folks, this one's a wee bit intense.

Jabiim and Handooine - Tier 2 - A DM'ed Encounter

"For 3000 years, we paid their tithes. We dug for their riches but our children died in the streets.
Disease, bandits, and pirates ravaged our people but they did nothing. Evil came upon us, and they did nothing. The wrath of the Empire burned the rain from the skies, and devastated our planet and we learned the hardest truth of all. The Republic will take your taxes and smile in your face but they are as hollow as the holes we dug for them. The rains stopped. The mud hardened and so too did we."
- Feine Ank, Jabiimi Historian
The Jabiimi people have no love for outsiders. Once members of the Galactic Republic, they were forgotten and ignored to the detriment of their people. Nearly wiped out after 40 ABY, the once rich ore world was left alone to recover from Imperial bombardment so heinous, it forever changed the face of the planet.

The valuable ores are gone, leaving behind only the less profitable and more labor intensive ores to be sifted from the mountains of dirt and rocks dug from beneath the surface.

Vengeful and cut off from those who had pledged aid and then abandoned them, the Jabiimi people turned to self reliance and to some extent, the world has rebounded. For hundreds of years, they have been rather xenophobic but there are sinister whisperings about the depleted resource planet.

The polite story is they have certain propensity for taking in and sheltering orphans and homeless children from off world, knowing the hardships that the disadvantaged face. It would be closer to the truth to call them child slaves. Most of the children brought to the planet are shunted into an old mining complex well outside the capital city of Choal. There the children are worked to exhaustion in a processing facility that is run by the remnants of the Lythian pirates. The pirates trade the lesser valuable ores on the black market, providing kickbacks to the conservative party leadership in Choal to look the other way.

Not everyone agrees with the way things are though. The recent victories of the Coalition all around them have the party bosses sweating as progressive activists are mobilizing in the streets. Inquiries into the mine owners have prompted investigations in the allegations of child slavery but so far, the Lythian pirates are controlling enough of the media and lobbyists that the populace is kept in the dark about the true nature of the mines. The tension is rising to a breaking point.

Where the Jabiimi have been wary of outsiders, they have trusted the Handooine completely, while the Handooine have been subtly controlling Jabiim politics for centuries.

On Handooine, everything is calm and pleasant in Jelwick, but not all is as it seems. The current president of Handooine, Epso Drangea, is secretly in league with the Lythians as his predecessors and provides them with unofficial sanction, drafting the pirates into Handooine's navy. He has surrounded himself with prominent members of the pirate guild in order to help keep Jabiim sheltered, using Handooine's navy to safeguard pirate vessels ferrying both ores and slaves in and out of Jabiim.

The Coalition threatens to destroy centuries of work, but Drangea feels he can politically outmaneuver the SSC leaders. He has invited SSC diplomats to Jelwick to discuss joining the Coalition and how their inclusion would be structured meanwhile the Lythians have orders on Jabiim to liquidate the mine and to evacuate the workers or their remains so that the SSC doesn't find evidence of abuses.

The administrators at the mine believe the higher ups are being paranoid. After all, no one comes to Jabiim. The government tends to forbid visitors and even if the surface is no longer a muddy mess, severe lightning storms still make repulsors nearly impossible to use.

However, the Coalition has been tipped off that there is something heinously illegal about the facility out in the desert, and no one has been able to get through to verify.

The Objectives:

Handooine Mission 1 - Attend the summit with the slippery and treacherous Epso Drangea as he tries to negotiate how Handooine will become part of the SSC. He sees the writing on the wall, but he isn't ready to let the money from his position with the pirates go either.

Handooine Mission 2 - A Lythian convoy carrying some slaves and lots of raw ore has blown through a Coalition patrol going towards the Wheel. Things are liable to get dicey when the SSC gives chase.

Jabiim Mission 3 - The conservative party is refusing to submit to the SSC in any way. Get planetside and join with rebels in the capital to overthrow the corrupt government and free the people from their oppression.

Jabiim Mission 4 - The Lythians have been ordered to liquidate and/or evacuate the workers from their mine but the storms make both tricky. Tipped off by a rebel in Choal, lead a team to discover what is going on and blow the lid off the scandal before the pirates kill their charges and destroy the evidence. Offer medical assistance to the slaves...should you free them in time.

Open Mission: Do whatever you want.

NOTE: Randomly every few posts, the actions of the Lythian pirates, Epso Drangea and the Jabiimi government will be DM'ed, throwing a monkey wrench into the RP and keeping things lively.

Thank you very much. I have a soft spot for Jabiim, so I felt like pulling out all the stops. Just let me know when you want to start it and I'll get it going.

We have only just finished a tier 3 dom, and I am not sure if the member of the faction would like a break from them. However, if everyone shows interest in continuing onward and upward, then I can't see why you can't go ahead with this one.

I have a heavy week this week with work and stuff in RL, so I might not be able to do it. If I can I will.

But firstly see what everyone else thinks. :)

I am up for it, besides there is no rush if we start the dominion. we could start 20 and do them one at a time at our leisure. I'd say start it up and people post and can come in when they want to.
