OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Isstol
  • Demonym: Isstollan
  • Region: Tingel Arm
  • System Name: Isstol System
  • System Features:
    • One Sun - Blue Main Sequence A Star, has not been named by planetary population
    • Two Moons - Neither are currently habitated or named, although both are capable of supporting populations as they have water and a Type I atmosphere
    • Nebula - a greenish-blue nebula covers much of the star system
    • Orbital Position - Habitable Zone
    • Rotational Period - 26 Galactic Standard Hours
    • Orbital Period - 257 Galactic Standard Days
  • Location: Same hex as Zeta 0-9, hex above Bastion
  • Major Imports: The planet has no imports due to its isolation from the rest of the galaxy and the primitiveness of its population.
  • Major Exports: The planet has no exports due to its isolation from the rest of the galaxy and the primitiveness of its population.
  • Unexploited Resources:
    • Coaxium - Unbeknowst to the natives, their planet contains vast reserves of the potent hypermatter within its crust and mantle due to the interstellar energies of the nebula the system exists within.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: 1.2x Standard
  • Climate: Temperate nearer the poles, hot and humid closer to the equator
  • Primary Terrain: Jungles/Rainforests, Riverlands, Mountains
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Due to the decentralizied tribal system the native population follows, a planetary capital has not been established for the planet.
  • Planetary Features: The planet remains in a wild and untamed state, the jungles and rivers in a pristine condition as the natives have not advanced into any semblance of an industrial age and their religious beliefs. In the mountains however, strange ruins exist deep within caves and underground, hinting at the planet's past affiliation with a previous galactic civilization.
  • Major Locations:
    • Falls of Life - Deep within the jungles of the planet is a massive waterfall that the native Isstollans have come to regard as sacred to their religion. The waters themselves that flow from this majestic site feed into the major rivers of the planet, which the shamans of the Isstollans believe have magical powers and are responsible for the growth of the flora they live in harmony with.
    • The Demon's Maw - The largest cavern in the northern mountains, the entering of the cave is a major taboo in the culture of the Isstollans. Hidden at the heart of the twisting tunnels and caves are the largest collection of ancient ruins found on the planet. These ruins are made of a dark metal that faintly glow with an unnatural, to the Isstollans, light.
POPULATION
  • Native Species: Isstollan
  • Immigrated Species: N/A
  • Population: Sparse, Moderate
  • Demographics: The planet is only populated by the Isstollans, although the ancient ruins hidden under the mountains would suggest a prior civilization that had since died out once called the planet home.
  • Primary Languages: Isst - Language of the Isstollans
  • Culture:
    • Society/Daily Lives - Daily life for adult Isstollans are focused on tribal betterment, with each individual contributing their skills to the collective whole. No one is discouraged from attempting new things, or accompanying those leaving on a hunt or forage. Tribes only have a few specialized roles, with the tribal chief, a shaman or two to advise the chief on religious matters, and the warriors to protect the tribe from rivals or dangerous wildlife.
    • Arts - The Isstollans are not generally ones to create art for arts' sake. Artisans only create a ceremonial mask or totem once a member of their tribe has come of age or shown dedication beyond the norm for their tribes' collective good. Shamans are responsible for creating and maintaining the jade head pieces they wear once they have completed their tutorships, something that is considered a high honor.
    • Religion - The central pillar of the Isstollans' religion is a respect for nature. They believe that living in harmony with the native flora and fauna of their world brings them closer to the collective spirit of those that came before. They believe this collective spirit is found within the waters of the rivers that flow through the jungle and the rains that fall, giving new life to the world and encouraging the growth of what already live.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Fractured Tribal System
  • Affiliation: As of this moment, the planet does not find itself under the sway of any galactic power, company, or organization.
  • Wealth: Poor - In context to modern galactic civilization, the Isstollans are poor primitives with no sense of a planetary economic or monertary system. They use a simple barter system, generally trading what they consider valuable stones or goods for what they do not possess.
  • Stability: Medium - The decentralized nature of their tribes is a double-edged sword in terms of stability as, while matters generally stay within the tribe and an overall sense of peace prevails across the planet, rival tribes are constantly fighting over foraging areas, hunting grounds, and the best spots along the rivers.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The native Isstollans are generally free to do most anything they desire, as long as it does not hinder their tribe or go against their religion. During times of war between tribes however, the freedoms they generally enjoy are restricted for the good of the war effort by decree of the tribal chief. They are forbidden to speak out against the wisdom of the shaman or the decisions of the chieftains, nor are they allowed to stray beyond their borders unless a part of a warband launching a skirmish.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Due to the low tech level of the natives, and the decentralized tribes, Isstol does not present a military threat to any galactic power with modern technology. Among their own kind, the northern tribes, especially those nearer the forbidden mountains, have become powerful warriors that the other tribes try to avoid angering. The jungle tribes are better archers and use hit-and-run tactics during skirmishes with their rivals.
  • Technology: The Isstollans have yet to develop any sort of industrial capabilities, generally sticking to low-level tech along the lines of bows with arrows tipped with sharp stones or, if available, a green glass-like substance (known throughout the rest of the galaxy as jade) that they've learned to shape into armor as well.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In ancient times, the planet known as Isstol played host to a galactic civilization that thought it could challenge the nearby Gree Enclave. In the ensuing conflict, the Gree utterly annihilated their would-be rival, crushing any military force and reducing their cities to rubble, burying them beneath newly created mountains. The few survivors of the cataclysmic war were forced by the victors to abandon their technology, the knowledge of how to recreate what they lost stripped from their minds, their bodies were subjected to genetic experiments to alter and regress their minds to a primal state.

Over the ensuing millennia, the planet recovered from the ecological devastation, becoming covered in a planetwide system of rivers and jungle. The survivors' descendants became known as the Isstollans, a race that had formed a tribal society centered around respect for nature and living in harmony with the jungle of their world. Not even stories remained of their previous civilization, and any place that contained ruins were banned to the race by their mystical shamans.

The planet had escaped galactic notice, due to its isolated position in the Tingel Arm away from any trade routes or colonization efforts, allowing the Isstollans to live in peace. However, and unbeknowst to the natives, a survey ship had arrived in the system and proceeded through the nebula surrounding the world. A scan was performed and the survey team discovered massive reservoirs of coaxium within the planet's crust and mantle, and now their world was about to attract the attention of beings hungry for the precious and powerful hypermatter fuel...

Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf nicely done. We can always do for more forests, especially ones with as much color as Isstollans seem to bring. And who doesn't need an extra Coaxium reserve to boot?

There are a couple things I'd like to see expanded just a tad:
Freedom & Oppression: I'd be interested to have examples of what freedoms get restricted in times of need, as well as the extent of such.
Military: Also be interested to know more on this - so they're not a threat on a global level but what's combat like on a localized level? How's their fighting force oriented, if at all? Any tribes particularly known for their fighting prowess?
