Description: The TX-110 was a prototype modelled by Incom over a hundred years ago. The current state of the Galaxy led to this failing to make it into the market, despite the advanced design. The two existing models were put into storage, but stolen some years later. Recently they were purchased by Kairon Rees as ‘project’ ships to refurbish as a gift.

A single pilot is more than capable of flying the ship, but a co-pilot can separated control the weapons system, countermeasures, shields and read off the scanners. Full control of the vessel can be moved between pilots or shared as appropriate.

The computer programs were re-flashed by an Alliance technician and included a training mode, such that the co-pilot could take on simultaneous flight. The main pilot would feel this as feedback to their own control and could cut off trainee access should they feel it has become unsafe.

The weapons system features quick controls to either automatically lock onto a target or work in “scare mode”. In the second mode the pilot quickly chooses a direction and the weapon will fly from out to in on this angle. For example, starting on the left of a target and slowly closing towards them. Sometimes a pilot is actually more interested in forcing an enemy to change course than achieving a direct hit. This is more useful in Flight manoeuvres when they may be attempting to corral an enemy ship into the path of another friendly vessel or capital ship firing arc. The main weapon is a single rapid-fire rotary laser cannon. It fires a very rapid stream of bolts, but only for three seconds, with a one second rest period. The net energy output of the weapon is equivalent to four typical laser cannons. It's capable of tracking slower moving missiles if the pilot puts them within the line of fire.

This model was built to supplant the X-Wing and one of the key difference is in the engine layout. Instead of S-foils the engines are on fixed mounts to aid stability. However, instead of weapons systems on the outside and engines on the inside the engine nacelles are on the ends and the weapons system is mounted in the nose of the fighter. This has the effect of increasingly the torque that can be applied to the fighter, whilst keeping the centre of mass as close to the centre as possible.

The nacelles are ion engines that can fire forwards or rear. Starboard and port engines can fire in two different directions, turning the ship about its axis at an incredible rate. Being behind this vessel is not a safe place to be by any regards. The pilot is able to cut thrust, turn it one eighty and open fire. Alternatively all thrust could be directed forwards to rapidly decelerate the ship and leave a pursuer flying right past.

The vessel has an exceptionally durable frame to take the intense torques applied by the engines, but at the same time two thin layers of armour to keep weight down. It is what lies between them that is interesting. A honeycomb of cells runs between the two layers. Within each cell is a rare material known as laminanium. Should a cell be pierced, generally in the instance of the vessel receiving a glancing blow from a laser cannon, the metal inside will be melted. The inner hull is thermally conductive and as the laminanium bled out it was rapidly cooled and would seal minor breaches. The shielding is perhaps 70% as strong as a typical X-Wing. Manoeuvrability and countermeasures are this vessel's main defences against a direct strike.

As the vessel is intended as: something for Mal to fly in her free time; a Starfighter deterrent that could be launched to defend the freighter; and potentially to be used as a long distance courier the crew devised an optional pod module. This ugly rectangular box sites underneath the main body of the ship and extends the range of the vessel to virtually galactic distances. It also houses a small cargo space 3x1x1m in size.

Intent: Make a cool ship as a present for Mal’s birthday.

Thank you for listing post numbers. It makes my job much easier. Although it seems more like 1,5,10,14,18,22,60,138,140 are this characters posts. But thats ok it seems to fit the required development for Laminanium.

so link the manufacturer and make the production and squadron count match and it is good to go. You could just put n/a in squadron count since there are only 2 of them. Or even put the production to limited if you in the future want to give more as gifts and leave the squadron count at 12.
