Resolved Is there Nubian nobility around?

I'm on the midst of writing this character and, since I intend for her to have some political importance, I was planning on making her Nobility of some kind. Are there any spots for Nubian nobility taken? Or can I have this character be a queen or something along those lines? I do like Nubia so that was my first choice for a planet.

I haven't seen anyone leading the planet Nubia in recent history but even if that were the case you're welcome to write as Nubian Royalty but bear in mind that the Wookie suggests that they've historically held "elected" officials. Mostly corrupt, if memory serves haha. That shouldn't limit you though because SWRP is many, many years in the future and things could have easily changed. Just something to think about for backstory.

Even if someone was "currently" writing as Queen/King/Leader of a planet that doesn't mean you're barred from doing so. No one can tell you that you can or can't write on a certain planet, nor, RP a particular role (unless it's a custom project). If we held every role in reserve for members that originally had them we'd stagnate. (Ex. There have been many, many Queen's of Naboo or Hapes over the years. Sometimes, concurrently.)

It's kind of like Canon Artifacts. They're treated as copies because tracking who owns what is a nightmare, people go inactive, and it's not really fair. Chaos is a buffet as far as "Lore" goes aside from the Timeline. Take what you want from it and leave the rest - Thank you for asking, though.

This isn't me disagreeing with Srina but I would also add some encouragement to check out if any major faction happens to be in charge of the planet you may want to rule at the time, at the moment there is. I don't actually know if that means you can't be active nobility (they can't do anything to stop you being former or blood nobility) but it may be a good idea to see if you can coordinate with them anyway, plus it may bring some extra rp. Currently the chaos map shows the Galactic Alliance as having that hex (I think) so not a bad idea to talk to them about some stuff.

I hope however it goes it works out though! Nobles can be really fun.

Writers can check if they want to but it's 100% not necessary. There are so many minor factions in existence that come and go with claims to fame and fortune that it would get exceedingly hard to do anything relevant if we had to clear it with everyone.

that's why character sheets have no approval process. We don't track that.

Not to mention that no one owns a planet in that sense, even if, it currently sits within the space of a major faction. If the writer wants to roll up to the major faction and demand to be the recognized "Queen" within that faction then that's a little different... That impacts that faction because you want to do it IN their faction. But if the member wants to do it on their own? That's fine. No one can gatekeep or stop another writer from writing what they want on a planet.

There could even be two or more Queens of Naboo in existence at the same time (this has happened) and writers are free to acknowledge or ignore each other. Titles and roles are not held in reserve for Canon Planets.

In the spirit of cooperation it's totally cool to try and check in with people (like they did with this thread) but it doesn't bar them from it. Apologies, if this is too lengthy or I misunderstood. I just want to be clear.

Communication = Good
Gatekeeping = Bad

Appreciate clarification. I wasn't actually sure if there was rules but I do remember when I had done my planet I'd kept an eye out for hex's to avoid some kind of discrepency. But I guess there really is no restriction there.

Still, and it is still a personal preference I guess, I do think it's nice to have the communication when possible. But good to know it's isn't obligatory to technically cooperate with a faction that may be too opposed to the idea.

Anytime!

Like I said...Communication is always good - But for a site as vast and long lived as SWRP we just can't account for it all.

Ex.) Beth is new and wants to write a Chiss Qween... Asks about, no one responds. Two days later (OR TWO YEARS LATER LOL) someone comes back from LOA and goes "Hey that's mine you can't have that" so now they think they're stuck. But, they're not. They can both have what they want.

The only exception would be if it's regarding taking a position specifically within and affiliated with a faction. (Ex. I decide I want to be THE Grand Master of the Jedi in the GA. I would need to talk to them because its within their faction. But if I want to be the Grand Master on my own? No worries. They'll do them and I'll do me.)

Think of it like "Canon Artfacts" - We treat them like copies because it got wild trying to track who had what and when. This way everyone can enjoy them, no one misses out, because some Sith claimed it back in 2015 lol. But, yeah - Please feel free to ask if it doesn't make sense :)
