Interest Check: An Underworld vs Cops Type Faction

I think we can. I'm just trying to decide what is the best way to do this. One big "underworld" sandbox where its the cops and the criminals? Or 2 small factions for each side. It might make more sense to keep us all together so we can play off eachother easily.
Yeah it's a little tough. I do believe one faction may work just fine, I think Eternal Empire did something similar at one point but there was a lot going on at the time so I wasn't sure how it was working. The rebel faction and the main faction seemed to be working well together. So if you make the faction (based on the state) and then just have the sub-factions of sorts, I'd think that'd be fine.

But, if you think two small factions works and just make sure everyone in them can all group up in the same discord. That seems a good idea too.

First I love your profile name.

Second I think those are some great ideas! It also kinda draws the question would it be better to have 2 factions, one criminal and one law enforcement that then play off each other?

The issue for me has always been trying to fit this into a faction concept but I would like to find a way. I see a lot of corsec etc officers and I know we have criminals looking for a home as well.

first, thank you!

second, if it's a case of people on both sides of the law looking for people to write opposite, which I have no doubt there is lots of, perhaps a faction to facilitate those kinds of meetups is indeed the path to take. It could honestly even be something as informal as a galactic underworld discord server for organizing threads. My money would be on a sandbox-type underworld faction in terms of accessibility, and that is to say, I think it could end up quite popular because of the accessibility it offers over a single minor faction trying to do both. The IC underworld is galaxy wide and weaves through the borders of every major faction in some way, and I think an OOC faction representing that and bringing many underworld minor factions together would be so incredibly dope.

Alas, that is a lofty idea I know, but it taps into something that I know Chaos has been both needing and wanting for a while. I think you've hit on a golden idea at a time when there is discussion opening up about the RP landscape of the site, and while I am a true enjoyer of the epic Jedi versus Sith storylines we so often see at the forefront of the board, the underworld needs much love too.

I think the idea of a Discord server is a good one, but without some type of "faction landing page" I'm afraid people might not see us or know we exist. But I do like the idea of just a big sandbox to get us going.

that is a very good point. I think an on site faction page for a sandbox would be a good spot for people to then jump towards whatever kind of groups they're looking for in the underworld.

I've been working on graphics and some background information up with a few things. I will post those below.

I will also work on getting us a faction page and a discord up and then we can start plotting our first thread!

"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy"

The Underworld is a sandbox style faction that consists of various small groups all operating in the criminal-laden underworld of the galaxy far far away. The goal of the faction is to offer a place for both criminal and law enforcement characters to come together and create stories. This faction consists of several player created groups who each have their own unique identity. What these groups share is the desire to write in the underworld, whether as the criminals causing havoc or the law enforcers trying to protect and serve.

Types of Characters in The Underworld:

Criminals:

The Underworld is teaming with criminal activity. These characters consist of pirates, bounty hunters, slicers, information brokers, mercenaries, smugglers, and every other kind of crook imaginable. They are known to be ruthless in their tactics and hungry in their desires to obtain the all-mighty credit. These rogues attack, rob, or commandeer ships, businesses or beings as they see fit throughout the galaxy. While their actions are inherently illegal, the morals of the various criminals vary considerably. As mercenaries, they are also known to do other jobs for the right price, including the protection of clients, or contract work for other agencies. Criminal members are clever, resourceful, and relentless, making them very dangerous to those with wealthy enemies The one thing that binds this group is the desire for riches and adventure.

Law Enforcement:

The law enforcement characters in this faction consist of regional and galaxy wide police officers, lawyers, social workers, and even Jedi Investigators who wish to protect citizens from the crime committed in The Underworld. Legal characters come in varieties such as beat cops, detectives, criminal investigators, forensic specialists, SWAT personnel, crime scene investigators, Marshall's, bounty hunters, medical examiners, and even truancy officers, and prison wardens. Every member of this group has sworn to protect and serve wherever the job takes them. Legal characters consist of criminal lawyers, public defendants, tax attorneys, business attorneys, and other legal representatives that do their best to ensure that each citizen served is aware of their rights and that justice is truly being upheld to the highest degree

In this faction the player must choose which side of the law to be on, and what master they serve. Join today to find your place in the galaxy.

Just to help get us organized!
Since I don't actually know for sure what I'll be doing I guess I can start in as Val for the purposes of at least being there.

I'm still on this everyone. It's just the end of the semester so I'm administering finals and preparing everything. Soon I'm going to get our first thread up though!

If you haven't already head over to the faction and see what we have so far.
