  • AR-0B Damaged Reduction Armor Component - A continual ablative current runs through the vessel's armor plating, assisting in removing of materials and other harmful substances in order to minimize hull damage. This serves to extend the longevity of the Vessel's Hull.

  • GalaxyGuard Mk VII - The vessels are equipped with a Shield Booster developed by BvK Fleet Systems. These systems assist in providing additional endurance and range of a starships Deflector Shields; with multiple such systems capable of working together to increase these boosts further.

  • Shipboard Tracking Control Complex - More commonly known as a Hyperspace Tracker; the system is utilized to track vessels through Hyperspace. The Interdictor III utilizes the system to better predict the location an enemy vessel may be traveling as a means to better prepare the vessel for deployment.

  • Gravity Well Projectors - The Interdictor III Star Destroyer is capable of producing Mass Shadows via its (4) G7-x Gravity Well Projectors. These are often utilized to trap vessels attempting to flee from an engagement, drag vessels out of Hyperspace, or otherwise perform Interdicting duties.

  • Split Section Design - Maintaining the design of previous iterations, the Interdictor III retains its Split Section, with a Dorsal and Ventral Superstructure. Though much more defended than previous iterations, there is still the chance that a heavy amount of sustained firepower or damage to these areas has the potential to break the structure away from the vessel itself.

  • Cost Prohibitive - Production, Maintenance, Upgrading, General Upkeep; everything about the vessel is costly due in part to its Gravity Well Projectors. While the bulk of Confederacy worlds are capable of maintaining a few such vessels, the vast majority of the worlds within the Confederacy Territory would be hard-pressed to field, let alone maintain an Interdictor III.

  • Time - Though outfitted with Gravity Well Projectors; they take time to full powerup and deploy the Mass Shadows that they generate. While slower vessels are hard-pressed to escape the area or jump to Hyperspace before the Interdictor III activates its Gravity Well Projectors, smaller, more agile vessels and starfighters are more than capable of utilizing sunlight speeds to travel to the edge of the field and escape to Hyperspace.

  • Energy Drain - While the Gravity Well Projectors are activated, they produce a large amount of strain on the vessel's systems, draining energy to the point that it is incapable of utilizing its weapon systems and shield systems to their optimal quality. In these instances, substantial damage inflicted upon the vessel will often force the Captain to choose between holding an enemy captive or the safety of the vessel and its crew.

  • Debris Collector - A side effect of utilizing the Gravity Well Projectors is that of attracting and accumulating Space Debris. While larger pieces are often targeted and destroyed by Gunnery Crews, smaller debris often causes problems and damage to the vessel; thus further adding to the cost of operating these vessels.

  • HIMS - The Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer - often abbreviated to HIMS - is a system that maintains the bubble of Hyperspace around a vessel, and is intended to counter the effects of Interdiction Fields. Vessels equipped with this system are capable of bypassing the Interdiction field and remaining in Hyperspace after passing through, effectively defeating the primary role of the Interdictor III Star Destroyer. However, the system does not allow for a vessel in Real Space to jump to Hyperspace while in the effect of an Interdiction Field.

A vast improvement over its predecessor series; the Interdictor III class Star Destroyer is a larger scaled variant of the older Interdictor II Cruiser - with a larger starfighter compliment, heavier armament loadout, and thick defenses, the Interdictor III surpasses the previous models with ease. Its primary focus is on that of ship-to-ship combat, with the bulk of its capabilities focused on its armaments and defensive capabilities. Furthermore, to achieve this focus, it is outfitted with a Carbon-Durasteel Armor, supplemented with AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component, which maintains a continual ablative current to assist in the removal of debris buildup and the remove of these substances and materials to assist in minimizing hull damage. Equipped with a Shipboard Tracking Control Complex, it is capable of tracking vessels through Hyperspace; often utilizing this system in concert with its Gravity Well Projectors to predict where an enemy vessel will revert back to realspace and trap them with Interdiction Fields before they get the chance to flee. However, the vessel's Interdiction Fields can be overcome by a vessel utilizing a Hyperwave Inertial Momentum Sustainer - which would allow the targeted vessel to remain in Hyperspace and avoid the Interdiction Fields.

Like similar vessels in the Interdictor line, the Star Destroyer retains the design that the line is known for, with a split Dorsal and Ventral Superstructure. While the Interdictor III Star Destroyer is better armed and protected against attacks - unlike the Interdictor II series - there is still the possibility that these superstructures, with sustained and directed firepower, have the possibility of being damaged or otherwise shorn off of the vessel itself. In this instance, the vessel would be incapable of continuing operations - with a high likelihood that the vessel itself would otherwise be destroyed, or scuttled if it were unfeasible to recover the vessel. This brings us to another weakness of the Interdictor III Star Destroyer; its cost. These vessels are cost-prohibitive; and while the most wealthy worlds of the Confederacy would be capable of purchasing and maintaining a few of these vessels, the more financially unstable worlds would have a difficult time maintaining just one such vessel. This pricy maintenance cost is only furthered due in part to a side effect of the Gravity Well Projectors; being that they attract stellar debris. While larger pieces are often destroyed by Gunners before they reach the vessel, smaller pieces still pose a threat to the vessel.

Additionally, the energy consumption of operating the Gravity Well Projectors often places the Interdictor III Star Destroyer is a rather strange predicament. This is due to the weapon and shield systems operating under their optimal quality when the Projectors are activated. In these instances, substantial or sustained damage to the vessel will often force the Captain to make a choice between keeping a vessel captive or putting the safety of the vessel and its crew first. There is also the time it takes to activate the Projectors to take into account; and while larger vessels and fleet formations may be incapable of escaping from the Interdiction field before its generated, smaller and more agile vessels and starfighters are more than capable of reaching the edge of the Mass Shadow and fleeing into Hyperspace.

Equipped with a suite of Tractor Beam Projectors, the Interdictor III often attempts to utilize its Ion Cannons on vessels that it tears from Hyperspace; with the primary focus on disabling the vessels then utilizing the Projectors to drag the vessels into its hanger, or hold it in place while a shuttle ferries a boarding party to the vessel to be capture from the inside. With its primary focus on offensive capabilities, it is equipped with a Quad-Laser Auto-Tracking Fire Control system; allowing for the fully automated firing of the weapons rather than manual firing, the system is utilized to target fast-moving vessels or starfighters. Usually coupled with the vessels more defensive weapons, such as the point defense cannons and deck cannons to provide the first line of defense and screen against enemy starfighters. Often the vessel utilizes its proximity sensors to detect the edge of high gravity fields to better deploy its own Mass Shadows in an overlapping field.

Internally the vessel is protected by a series of Blast Doors and Holocams, meant to aid security personnel in apprehending individuals that are not meant to be on the vessel or may have managed to board the vessel during an engagement. These security features also include Force Fields and Ray Shielding to assist in capturing individuals, as well as Walkthrough Identification Scanners utilized to prevent droids from accessing areas of the vessel they are unauthorized to enter. Klaxon alarms to alert nearby personnel of an emergency in the area, as well as code cylinder readers, add an additional level of security by preventing unauthorized personnel access to specific areas of the vessel. Communication Systems on the vessel also ensure that it is capable of transmitting and receiving messages via hyperspace as well as subspace, while a Telesponder broadcasts the vessel's IFF to nearby ships.

Additional systems of the vessel include the GalaxyGuard Mk VII, which is utilized to boost the strength and range of the Deflector Shields. A Hyperwave Signal Interceptor, utilized to read the telltale fluctuations of vessels entering and leaving Hyperspace - with the sensor being utilized in conjunction with the Shipboard Tracking Control Complex to better predict and track a vessel through Hyperspace. There are those systems in place to assist in reducing or otherwise negating Stellar Radiation and its effects on the crew; such systems being the Trans-Binary Deflector and Radiation Negator. An integrated Holographic Tactical Display, located on the bridge, also assists in better coordinating and observing the ever-shifting lines and formations of engagement, and a series of Blackout Lights; an emergency lighting system that draws so little power, that they're difficult to detect on sensors.
