OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Imperial Vipers
  • Affiliation:
  • Classification: Special Operations Infantry
  • Description: The Imperial Vipers are an all-female special operations infantry unit created through Engineered Variance Cloning. While they are not typically regarded as elite, their integration of the FAE/S-07 Symbiotic Ghost Link and FAE/IN-01 Prism Core gives them raw capabilities that rivals (if not exceeds) established elite Imperial special forces units.

Every Viper is created through EVC, receiving flash training while still gestating in her growth tank. No natural-born individual is ever recruited into the unit. Each Viper is genetically and phenotypically unique, avoiding the uniformity that makes traditional clones immediately recognizable as artificially produced lifeforms.

The Vipers wear a distinctive uniform consisting of a form-fitting white bodysuit, a utility belt, panoramic quadocular night vision goggles, and an advanced gas/air mask. Of particular note, the bodysuit is equipped with an integrated FAE/S-07 Ghost Link and an onboard FAE/IN-01 Prism Core microcomputer, both of which serve as the foundation for their ultra-enhanced cognitive capabilities.

The unit's mindset is disciplined, obedient, hyper-loyal, and mission-focused. Vipers are fanatically devoted to the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant and the wider cause of Imperialism, and are committed to their unit. While they are not mindless automatons, their training and conditioning encourages conformist traits over maverick ones. However, as genetic engineering aimed at adjusting personality traits is not a perfected science, Vipers may occasionally deviate from their established programming.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
    • Battalion - 800 Vipers
      • Company - 200 Vipers
        • Platoon - 40 Vipers
          • Section - 12 Vipers
            • Squad - 6 Vipers
              • Fire Team - 3 Vipers
                • Element - 1 Viper
    • Vipers are typically deployed in squads of four to six individuals. However, in a single engagement, Vipers may field up to forty individuals. A full battalion may be committed across an entire operational theater, which naturally contains multiple separate battlespaces or engagements.
    • There are no more than 10,000 Vipers at any given time.
  • Unit Availability: Common
  • Unit Experience: Trained
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function: The Imperial Vipers are special operations-capable infantry trained and equipped for missions that require precision, speed, and adaptability. They are not frontline assault troops and are not equipped or trained to hold ground against sustained enemy assault. Instead, they are designed to strike quickly, achieve their objective, and withdraw before the enemy can mount an effective response.
    • Direct Action
      • Precision strikes against high-value targets, raids on enemy installations, and ambushes of enemy forces.
    • Reconnaissance and Surveillance
      • Covert observation, intelligence gathering, and target acquisition.
    • Security Operations
      • Protection of key personnel, facilities, and assets.
    • Unconventional Warfare
      • Operations behind enemy lines, sabotage, and support of irregular forces.
    • Counter-Insurgency
      • Operations against irregular enemy forces.
    • Force Multiplication
      • Able to enhance the effectiveness of conventional forces through tactical coordination, situational awareness, and precision fire support.
The Imperial Vipers operate in small teams of four to six operators, though they can be deployed in larger platoons or companies for missions requiring significant force projection. They rely on their Ghost Link to achieve a level of coordination and situational awareness that is impossible for baseline, unaugmented soldiers to achieve.

In combat, Vipers use their enhanced reaction times via the Ghost Link to process and respond to stimuli in under 500 microseconds (over 300 times faster than baseline human reflex). They are ultra-capable multitaskers, able to track multiple targets and objectives simultaneously without loss of focus. They can coordinate seamlessly through the tactical network, sharing sensor data and target designations in real-time.

The Ghost Link allows Vipers to interface directly with their equipment, weapons, and sensors. The Prism Core microcomputer in their bodysuits provides vast amounts of computational power to support this interface, allowing them to process tactical data in microseconds. Together, they create a soldier who can think with the speed of a machine, while retaining the creativity and adaptability of an organic mind.

The Imperial Vipers are intended to supplement Mahporeem Imperial Army's existing special forces, rather than replacing them outright. In this, they provide a steady, reliable stream of special operations-capable infantry that can be assigned to missions where the deployment of elite assets would be tactically wasteful or politically inconvenient.

The Vipers maintain a professional relationship with other elements of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant's military, including the Junkyard Knights, the Junktrooper and Stormtrooper Corps, and the Mahporeem Militia. They are expected to cooperate with these formations as required by operational necessity.
Strengths:
  • True Multitasking: The Ghost Link in their combat bodysuits allows Vipers to carry out multiple separate tasks simultaneously, as they are no longer limited by the hardware of their physical brains. A Viper can aim and fire at one target while tracking other threats, monitor communication channels while engaging in close quarters combat, and coordinate with squadmates through the tactical network while personally engaging the enemy. This multitasking capability makes Vipers extremely effective force multipliers. In many contexts, a single Viper can perform the work of two or three baseline soldiers, allowing small teams to accomplish missions that might otherwise require larger forces.
  • Organic Targeting Computers: With the synergy between the computation power of the Prism Core and the Ghost Link's direct neural interface, Vipers can achieve a level of precision and accuracy that borders on supernatural. When firing a weapon, the Viper interfaces directly with her weapon's targeting systems, calculating ballistic trajectories, wind speed, target movement, and other variables in microseconds. The result is an almost preternatural ability to place shots exactly where they are needed, even under extreme conditions. This precision extends beyond firearms to demolitions, movement, and close quarters combat, where Vipers can predict and counter enemy movements with uncanny accuracy.
  • Superhuman Reaction Time: The Ghost Link and Prism Core combine to give Imperial Vipers reaction times that are physically impossible for unaugmented humans. On average, a Viper can process and respond to stimuli in under 500 microseconds. In practical terms, this means a Viper perceives combat in slow motion relative to her own cognitive speed. She can see an enemy begin to raise a weapon, calculate the optimal response, and execute it before her opponent completes their initial movement. This makes Vipers extremely difficult to hit in direct firefights and allows them to seize the initiative in close quarters engagements.
  • Seamless Tactical Coordination: A squad of Vipers operates as a single organism, with each member aware of what every other member is seeing, thinking, and doing at any given moment. This allows for instantaneous sharing of threat warnings, coordinated fire without verbal communication, and synchronized movement. In practice, a Viper squad can execute complex tactical maneuvers with a level of precision and coordination that would require years of training for baseline soldiers to achieve. Even then, such soldiers might never reach the same level of seamless integration.
Weaknesses:
  • Rock Crushes Scissors: The Imperial Vipers are light infantry. They generally struggle with destroying tanks, breaching fortified positions, or withstanding sustained heavy weapons fire. Against enemies with armored support, artillery, or fortified defenses, Vipers must rely on stealth, speed, or external support to succeed. If forced into a stand-up fight against heavy assets, they will be quickly overwhelmed.
  • Minimal Command Experience: Since the Imperial Vipers are a new unit, no Viper possesses the decades of command experience that senior officers in conventional units accumulate. This means that Viper commanders, while tactically competent, lack the strategic depth and institutional knowledge of veteran officers. In complex operations requiring coordination with multiple units, adaptation to unforeseen circumstances, or long-term strategic planning, Viper leadership can prove inadequate compared to more experienced commanders.
  • Exploitable Predictability: Since all Vipers receive identical flash training, they tend to respond to similar situations in similar ways. Their tactical doctrine is standardized, their reactions are programmed, and their decision-making patterns are predictable to anyone who has extensively studied them. An enemy who has observed Vipers in combat (or who has captured Imperial Viper training data) can anticipate their tactics, predict their movements, and design countermeasures specifically tailored to exploit their standardized responses. This predictability is a significant vulnerability in asymmetric warfare.
  • Rent-an-Air Force: The Imperial Vipers lack integrated air support. This means that they cannot call in airstrikes, deploy drones, or coordinate close air support from within their own unit. Whenever air support is required, Vipers must request it from external sources, which may not be available, may be delayed, or may be denied. Thus, in operations where air superiority is contested or where air support is unavailable, Vipers must rely entirely on their own capabilities. This limits their effectiveness in operations requiring air power.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Imperial Vipers were established following the rise of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant as an independent major galactic power in 903 ABY, in the wake of the Imperial Confederation's collapse. The unit was created in response to the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant's need for a dedicated special operations infantry formation that could supplement the more prestigious (and more politically complicated) existing special forces structures.

Rather than competing for limited numbers of elite recruits, or navigating the bureaucratic friction between existing commands, the Imperial Vipers offered a clean solution: soldiers created from scratch. Using Engineered Variance Cloning, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant could produce special operations-capable infantry in numbers, without depending on recruitment pools or training pipelines.

The unit was placed under the authority of Imperial Special Forces Command, which itself operates within the broader structure of the Imperial Army Central Command. The first production batch of Imperial Vipers was created by ImperiaLabs at a former Imperial Confederation cloning facility on New Alderaan, with flash training integrated directly into their developmental process.

The Imperial Vipers are expected to partake in operations across the galaxy to support the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant and the wider cause of Imperialism. This includes direct action raids, reconnaissance missions, and unconventional warfare campaigns.

As the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant continues to grow in power and influence, the Imperial Vipers are expected to play an increasingly prominent role in its military operations. In addition, the Vipers are expected to support and join other Imperial powers as well, with the ultimate aim of furthering the cause of Imperialism and restoring Imperial power to the Skyriver galaxy.
