STRENGTHS
  • Cutting Power: The blade is a devastating cutting instrument that destroys matter on multiple levels simultaneously. The monomolecular edge severs molecular bonds with almost no resistance, while the energy cord/laser sheath superheats and destabilizes the material ahead of the strike, softening it into molten or vaporized fragments. At the same time, the ultrasonic vibration generator unleashes microscopic oscillations that shatter internal cohesion, sending destructive resonance deep into the target. The result is a blow that not only cuts, but also unravels whatever it touches, combining thermal shearing, vibrational tearing, and atomic-level slicing in a single movement.
  • Reach: While the FAE/M-02’s reach does not match that of a standard-length lightsaber or sword, it is long for a forearm vibroblade, being roughly the length of a small sword. All things equal, the blade can stand against a longer weapon in a pinch, though it is not optimal as a primary armament under typical conditions.
  • Rupture: The energy-reflective nature of the ultrachrome (used as a nanocoating on the blade) repels energy fields and gives the blade a very high chance of passing through energy shields. This allows the wielder to engage energy-shielded targets with a good expectation of success. However, it should be noted that depending on their frequency and resistance to energy discharges, energy shields may disrupt the monomolecular energy cord component.
  • Brutal: A single successful stroke from the blade can leave wounds that are simultaneously clean and catastrophic: flesh instantly cauterized yet torn open into gaping, ragged channels, armor slashed apart as if made of brittle clay, and even impervium plates ripped and melted in seconds. Stone is shorn into dust, and most alloys part like water, their molecular integrity shredded by vibration before the heat and edge finish the job. Even the lightest touch has the potential to cause swift dismemberment or structural failure, making the weapon as close to the destructive potential of a lightsaber as a physical blade can achieve—only with the added visceral brutality of mechanical tearing layered atop precise, surgical cutting.
  • Lightsaber Resistance: Albeit a standard feature of most, if not all late vibroweapon technologies given the propagation of Force Users in the modern era, the FAE/M-02 is resistant to contact with lightsabers and is capable of retaining its integrity against such weaponry over long periods, owing to its resilient construction and the Svolten Rhyolite protecting the edges.
WEAKNESSES
  • Mechanical Mutation: Like any piece of technology, the blade will be susceptible to mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers if left unprotected. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce an overload or some other failure that might compromise much of the vibroblade’s advanced functions, potentially reducing its potential cutting power or compromising one of its utility features in the process.
  • Overload Neutralization: The vibroblade depends on its electronics in order to retain full lethality and operational efficiency. EMP and Ion discharges of high enough magnitude could compromise the monomolecular energy cord and the mono-molecular edge, reducing the blade’s cutting power.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The successor to the relatively successful FAE/M-02 Energized Gauntlet Vibroblade, the FAE/M-02 Energized Forearm Vibroblade Mk. II improves on its predecessor’s design by enhancing its versatility, utility, construction, security, resilience, and lethality with a number of new features. Like the previous model, the FAE/M-02 Mk. II retains fantastic cutting power, capable of tearing through stone, reinforced alloys, dense organic carapace, and yet materials by simultaneously cutting, melting, and ripping them apart. One addition to the utility is the Collapsing Mirrors System, which utilizes molecular disruptor cells to downsize the blade, allowing it to be sheathed within a tiny compartment rather than a larger gauntlet. Enhancing customization and comfort, the blade utilizes programmable matter shaping, which is utilized to alter the grip and ergonomics for various alien and humanoid anatomies, improving comfort for virtually all users. In addition, a rotating grip system allows the blade to be wielded in a reverse or standard forward grip, allowing for more leverage with strikes from more angles. This effectively allows the blade to be wielded in the manner of a typical sword.

Covering resilience, the weapon is notably resistant, but not immune to EMP and Ion discharges. In addition, it is also able to withstand contact with lightsabers.

All in all, the FAE/M-02 Mk. II is anticipated to represent a serious advancement on the company’s vibroblade weapon series, placing them at or near the top of the market once more.
