DESCRIPTION
The Iblis - Class Missile Frigate was designed by the Republic Engineering Corporation to fulfill a specialized role within the Galactic Alliance’s naval structure. With a majority of REC vessels capable of fulfilling certain roles or aspects within an armada, there was a notable gap where artillery warships were concerned. Thus, the Corporation endeavoured to amend this oversight and produce something worthy of note. From this newfound initiative, the Iblis-Class was born through a combination of stylized design choices and repurposed spaceframes. With both aspects in hand, it was considerably easier to develop the Missile Frigate and flesh out its design with a myriad of modernized advances.

The first of these advances was the combination of static missile tubes and their turreted compatriots. With both of these methods in play, the Iblis-Class could bring a considerable number of capital-ship killing warheads down upon their enemies, be they a solitary warship or an entire squadron. While this presented a proverbial powderkeg to the enemy, should they breach the countless defensive measures - the designers believed it was worth the potential risk, as the Missile Frigate could support an offensive with whatever warheads were at the Commander’s disposal. This meant that the Iblis-Class would have whatever warheads were needed to carry the day; be they the dreaded capital-ship killers, or the diamond boron missiles that would tango with proverbial swarms of starfighters.

Couple these extreme measures of weaponry with the comprehensive suite of countermeasures and defensive systems, the Iblis-Class would prove to be a well-rounded artillery frigate that could support itself - for a time. Naturally, there existed the potential for the defensive barriers to fail and for the active interception methods to be rendered inoperable. But, as that was to be expected of any warship that soared across the solar tides, there was little concern given over to their catastrophic failure. For, if the warship reached that point - where their hull was breached along multiple vectors and their reactor was breached - it was likely that the missile frigate would’ve been nothing more than expensive salvage.

That being said, the overlapping firing arc’s of the point defence weapons - married to the various methods of self-defence - the Iblis-Class found itself equipped with a countermeasure for almost every occasion. That included the pseudo-regenerative hull plating, which would automatically seal itself with a form of living metal, and force dozens of automated remotes out into the depths of the void to begin making repairs. While it was unlikely that these minor regenerative properties would be able to fully restore the structural integrity of the Missile Frigate, they ensured that the warship was still space-worthy and capable of continuing on with the fight. Such an aspect was doubtlessly handy to any and all ship commanders that were assigned to any warship that bore the REC-logo, as it would increase the chances of their reduced crew complements making it home alive - rather than being sucked out into the cold vacuum of space.

What made the Iblis-Class truly special, was that it was outfitted with a dedicated array of self-replicating armament facilities. While some REC warships were capable of re-producing standardized templates - ala replacing the arms and armour of their soldiers - the Missile Frigate was capable of replenishing its stockpile of warheads. Although these warheads would range from a preset selection, their production would doubtlessly assist the Iblis-Class in sticking it through long deployments, forgoing the standard resupply withdrawals. So long as the cargo holds were stockpiled with the basic materials that were needed for construction, the Missile Frigate could - theoretically - produce an endless supply of warheads to hurl at their enemies.
