Tantara-series Corvette Jade Beacon, nearing Bimmisaari

The burly master edged his way through the narrow corridors of the vessel, managing to avoid bumping into Master Nomor in the process. Travot exchanged a brief but genuine smile with the cerean before continuing his way away from the bridge. It had been a while since he had felt so much at home - the old Beacon's halls smelled of oils and grease that had managed to keep the corvette running deep in the Outer Rim for years. As much as he loved the space going life, he knew everyone did not. He knew that several of the other jedi onboard were probably desperate to get onto land again, with its wide open spaces and fresh air.

He turned a narrow corner and nearly ran smack into a pair of sliding doors, which swiftly whisked open to reveal the ship's small conference room. A long white table with a built-in holo-projector took up much of the rectangular room, with the chairs around it nearly touching the bulkheads behind them. He glanced around. Good thing are soon as I did. It's about to get crowded. He managed to slip past a nervous padawan before taking his seat near the holo-projector's control panel. Now to wait for everyone else to arrive...

Conf Room

Madison entered the small conference room with a large datapad in both hands. She was running a molecular sim and reviewing the results as she walked. She took a seat and crossed her legs. Present, but lost in her armor calculations. She continued to spin the digital image as it recreated the designs on her screen in real time. She mused but remained curious. She couldn't exactly remember what they needed down on Bimm-world. Ugh. How she loathed travel. Why did everything in this galaxy have to be light-years away. Bleh.

She was clothed in all black Cinnagarian fashions except for a short brown fur jacket. She'd fit in perfectly in some downtown Coruscanti club. As she firmly believed in enjoying herself on these long trips off-world. Comfort was everything.

She wore a single EP Wand against the back of her belt and her small Devaronian blaster pistol inside her jacket. She was content to go without grenades.

This time.

Dagos slipped into the conference room unnoticed, just one more among the many who were gathered there waiting to be filled in. He played on his comm/data pad scrolling through recent pictures of his time spent on Spira with friends at the beach. It was good to remember the times he was able to relax. Really whatever they were about to be briefed on would be the first big time mission he would be on since Cato Neimoidia.

He was dressed simply. Black cargo pants, black boots and a black long sleeve shirt. On his waist was a borrowed lightsaber, the same one he had worn on Neimoidia.

He laughed to himself scrolling through his pics and waited to hear exactly what whas about to go down

Moving slowly through the ship, Amanda entered the conference room dressed more like a slave than a padawan. Rough trousers and tunic adorned her body, but a snow white robe covered the rest of her form. It was the only thing that she still head onto, a memento of Aayla Shan Aayla Shan that she carried with her. No weapons hung from her utility belt, only repair tools. She disliked the urge to commit violence, knowing that primitive power within her that seemed to grow and feed off it. She kept her head down, not wanting to look to the rest of the gathered padawans.

She had only been around them once before, and she didn't have a pleasant experience from that either. Squeezing her hands together as tightly as she could, she merely wished to not be acknowledged. This felt more like a public shaming than a trial.

The sooner this was over the better.

Travot idly watched as a half dozen padawans filtered in. Many would hardly fit the stereotypes of padawans popularized on the holo-dramas - different fashions, different choices for tools, and even different ages. The galaxy is hardly as uniform as many people would like it to be...and our padawans reflect that...I...I reflect that too. When the last padawan entered, Travot flicked a switch on the table, causing the conference room door to whisk shut. Nomor stood at the exit and offered a curt if polite nod - the silent signal to start the briefing.

Travot, wearing a simple brown robe over his plate armor, stood up, acutely aware of how cramped the room was for a person of his physique. The man's eyes flittered over Madison Starr and Dagos Terrek Dagos Terrek , both of whom he had met in action at Cato Neimoidia, before briefly settling on Amanda Amanda , who he had briefly met prior at the Silver Rest. His old padawan, the young Nautolan Lanyria, was also present - the trials coming would be one of the few things she needed before being considered for the knighthood. He cleared his throat.

"Greetings, everyone. For those who I have not met me, I am Master Travot Ravenna..."

He tapped a button on the table's control, causing light to coalesce in front of them to form a mottled ball of blue and brown, covered occasionally by clouds.

"This is Bimmisaari, lately conquered by the Bryn'adul Empire before being abandoned by them only a few months ago. While we have managed to turn the atmosphere into something breatheable again, the world is not what it once was. It is mostly abandoned, save for remnants of the Bryn'adul and opportunistic...underworlders as some of you might call them. As such, we need to do a brief safety briefing before any of us set foot on the planet.

We will be landing at what was the Glastros Intergalactic Spaceport. Once landed, we will all make our way to the Silver Jedi Hostel there - that is the only location on the world that has been fully explored and secured. The facilities there are largely intact or restored - you can get a fresh meal there that's not ship food, chat with the others in the common room, or find a quiet bed and bunk for yourself if you want some rest. While you all do that, myself and the others will be setting up your challenges in the areas around the spaceport. You should all received my comlink channel and those of the other proctors if you need to get ahold of us during that time. If you choose to leave that area, which I do not recommend unless it's an emergency, make sure you are armed or with someone who is armed. I would suggest that you be armed as well - the surviving Bryn'adul aren't known for taking quarter. Once set-up is complete, you will all randomly be assigned one of the challenges that we have prepared for you. We will let you know in advance if we recommend any equipment at that time, but I recommend looking around the ship now or grabbing your personal belongings if it's something you feel particular about now. Once everyone has finished or attempted their challenge, we will reconvene at the Hostel before returning to the ship.

We are set to land at the Spaceport within one hour. Does anyone have any questions or concerns?

Cramped was an understatement.

Cato had been bad for Madison. Really bad. She'd expressed too much power, too quickly. Grated on Master Thio's nerves as they fought off hordes of enemies. Shot and killed dozens of crazed Maw cultists. Worse yet, she still had yet to hear of the fallout of that terrible battle. But then again? Maybe she didn't want to.

Seeing Terrek, Ravenna, and Lanyria brought back bad memories.

Mmm. That wasn't there fault though. Jax had warned her about that. About staying present. Letting the past die. Remembering home and all that she had fought for. Remembering why she was still here. Yes. There was a trial in memories. She knew that. Just like she knew that one day.

She'd have to move on.

"No questions."

The briefing was already over by the time she'd made up her mind.

She stood up and gave a polite nod to Dagos and Lanyria. Then approached the scavenger girl. The one trying ever-so carefully to become invisible in the corner.

"Hi. I'm Madison. Madison Starr."

A beaming smile. A soft face. Starr radiated comfort and grace. Oh, and that smell! Was that a hint of perfume? Had Amanda ever smelled people who wore perfume before?

"Your robe. It's beautiful."

Another tender smile. Then she extended her hand for a shake. Fingers full of warm compliments.

"I love it."

They had time.

The bryn'adul?

The young padawaan's fingers that had so busily worried at his comm device went still as the smile and the blood drained from his face. A chill ran down his spine and he tended so hard he may as well've been laying trapped on the durasteel floor again.

His left hand was in tremendous pain despite no longer being attached to his body, in its place was a cybernetic hand covered in synthskin. He tried to swallow and found it to be impossible, his throat was full of sand. His heart was beating so loud he was sure Travot was going to have to pause his speech or ask Dagos to leave the room. He kept going, however, explaining…something. He mentioned a hostel and food, Dagos could not really understand.

He was so wrapped up in his own feeling he did not hear Travot dismiss them or see Madison acknowledge him.

Jedi Knight Braedyn Kenobi made his way into the meeting in the Corvette's conference room while Master Ravenna was speaking. Trying to be unobtrusive, the robed knight edged along the wall, attempting not to interrupt the briefing, finding a space to stand not far from the door. He stood quietly and listened attentively to the rest of the master's words.

Only a short while ago, he himself had been a Padawan, and would have been taking part in the trials. Today he was here to observe, and to offer support to the up and coming Jedi, as other Knights and Masters had done for him. With an effort of will, Brae focused his attention back to the here and now, and on the mission at hand. He'd never been to Bimmissari before, and he wanted to make a good impression and set an example as a Jedi Knight.

He shook his head gently along with some others when the Master finished and asked if there were any questions. Soon enough, they would be on the ground, and the challenges would begin. He was most curious to see how the Padawans did in their efforts to master their abilities with the Light Side.

Travot watched as the padawans began to mingle after the briefing - the four he already had most familiarity with - Madison Starr , Amanda Amanda , Dagos Terrek Dagos Terrek , and Lanyria appeared to be involved in conversations. Madison appeared to be trying to engage Amanda - a good sign in Travot's mind given the former's newness to their way of life. Lanyria seemed fairly content, talking to a gran padawan that Travot had only seen in passing at the Silver Rest. Dagos seemed concerned, maybe even worried - that was a natural part of the process. The trials would be hard probably, and likely trying. Still, he'd have to keep an eye on the other man before they landed. He hoped that the padawan would feel comfortable approaching him if something troubled him.

His attention was drawn away from his partner on Cato Neimoidia to a new presence - Brae Kenobi Brae Kenobi . Travot had thought that he'd likely be biggest man in the already small room, but the new knight appeared to trump in that fact. A silent smile flickered across his face. That's why we had to use this ship, and not something a little bit bigger with a little more headspace. Travot managed to narrowly slip past his old padawan and her gran partner and made his way to Brae. His eye briefly fell upon the saberstaff carried by the other man - an unusual choice for many jedi these days, and something that the Guardian path he had chosen made him more curious about. He stretched out a hand to Kenobi.

"I'm Master Ravenna, I understand that you share the name of a various famous jedi in the past, Kenobi was it? Any distant familial relationship that you know of?"

Braedyn waited quietly in the meeting room while conversation rose around him, taking the time to center himself in the Light Side, and maintain his calm and tranquility. Noticing that Master Ravenna was approaching, the young knight turned and bowed his head in respect and deference.

"I'm Master Ravenna, I understand that you share the name of a various famous jedi in the past, Kenobi was it? Any distant familial relationship that you know of?"
It was a good question, one that Braedyn had pondered himself more than a few times. In truth, he didn't know for certain, and could only tell the parts of the story of his family history that he was aware of. "Not that I am sure of, Master." Drulasha, the Wookiee that had raised him had told him his name had been on some documents in a bag he was found with. He'd never known his parents, they having been killed when he was yet too young to remember them. "In truth, I've always hoped there might be a connection to such an example of the greatest of the Jedi, but I can't be sure. I never knew my father or mother to ask them." He smiled, having made his peace with his circumstances long ago.

Remaining where she stood, Amanda kept her eyes to the ground. They had a mission set before them, and objectives that would not doubt need to be completed. Unfortunately, she was the most useless person in the room. Maybe if Aayla was here, she'd have a chance, but without her master to encourage her the inner turmoil was crushing. Why did they even bring her here? Was this just another one of the tests set on her by the jedi? She didn't know, regardless she didn't care. She caught movement, the faint scent of something pleasant, and found a stranger offering her a hand. Amanda tilted her head, befuddlement taking over her expression, before she took the offered hand and shook it.

A genuine smile broke across her face for the first time today. "Thank you, Master Shan gifted it to me." She paused, trying to recall how the whole bowing and scraping routine was the Sith part of her life talking. "I'm Amanda, just...Amanda." She never got to learn what her last name was, and at this rate she was concerned she might never have one. "It's...nice to meet you Madison." She managed, and soon realized she was still shaking the woman's hand. She snickered, dropping it. "Sorry, I'm still getting used to all this. People being nice and all, it's different."

She winced as those words left her mouth. Why did she mention something so weird? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Good going Amanda.

Her name, was Amanda.

"Hehe. It's okay. You're among friends Amanda. Please. Feel free to just be yourself."

Starr turned to gesture to the rest of the group. Encompassing them all with but a wave of her hand.

"Everyone here. Yes, we may all be Jedi. But we are all independent, in our own way. Each of us trying to find our own individual path. Allowing the Force to guide us. Alone. Yes. But together also. Searching for purpose. Searching for what's ours. Searching for our own place in a much, much bigger world."

Her eyes returned to the mission board. Towards the knowledge that difficult things may be ahead. And if the Bryn were involved? Perhaps some monsters too.

"As for me. I hope to find my own place among the Jedi too."

She turned to smile at Amanda. The shy little thing reminded her of herself, long long ago. Remembering that there was indeed something very very special these two women had in common. A journey.

"...And. If I can help you find your place? Well. You have only but to ask. Hehe."

Then Madison smiled again and bowed every so lightly to Amanda. Smelling absolutely delightful.

They would have time.

Soon. In one hour. They would be on the surface. And then the real fun would begin.

He was embarrassed that it took as long as it did to compose himself, after all this little excursion was ostensibly a test to gauge how close the padawans were to being promoted to knighthood. If he was close enough to knighthood to be tested for it, he should be close enough to be able to have control of his fear.

He turned his head and saw that Madison was in conversation with another young woman. She’s pretty He thought and not much older than him if she was at all. He should probably say hello but first he should speak to Travot, his partner through much of the last mission they were involved with together.

He got up and walked over to the hulking Jedi Knight…no Jedi Master. He too was in conversation with someone Dag hadn’t met before. A tall blonde man with a strong jaw. The galaxy wasn’t short on hero types it seemed.

“Trav! Congrats on being named a Master, man. You deserve it.” he said to the large Jedi when he joined the pair of older male Jedi.

“What up? I’m Dagos.” he introduced himself to Brae.

A warm smile grew across his face as Dagos Terrek Dagos Terrek greeted him. While he had not known the padawan long, being thrust into dangerous situations with another person tended to grow emotional bonds quickly. Nothing like nearly getting blown up together on a city suspended in the air...Yet when he thought about it, at least attempted to think about it from a detached, impersonal perspective, he realized how much he did not know about the padawan, like his past.

"Thank you," said Travot, "It's been some time in coming...I'm afraid I've taken some detours over the years, ventures into the edge of the galaxy, which while personally satisfying, kind of put me on the slow track for promotion...."

Travot briefly gestured to Brae Kenobi Brae Kenobi , "And this is Knight Kenobi...from....Kashyyyk? There's probably a story in there, but I'm getting off tract. I noticed that something seemed to be on your mind right after the briefing. Is something troubling you? Between Kenobi and myself, we might be able to get at least one decent listener."

Travot had never been great at humor - it was one of those things that came naturally to some and not so naturally to others. While his humor might be poor, he hoped it had the effect of making people more comfortable.

Maybe she wasn't horrible at this talking thing after all. No one had hit her, or threatened to strangle her, but then again holding people to Sith social standards wasn't exactly the norm. At least, that's what Aayla had told her. "You smell nice."

Or perhaps she still had a ways to go with this whole thing. Regardless, it felt nice that she wasn't going to be alone, or at least not the only one trying to find a place in all this. Master Aayla always said she got too nervous talking to people because she was anticipating something bad to happen. It was something about her unrefined force senses effectively overwhelming her, though Amanda had no clue what any of that really meant. "Well, I'm not good at directions, so I might have to ask more than once. Hope that's alright." She giggled, rubbing at her cheeks as if they would eliminate the blush that was spreading across them.

Hearing the voice of Travot, she looked to hear the announcement of Brae Kenobi, though he seemed to be a knight where as the rest of them were padawans. Maybe there was something to this trial she wasn't quite grasping.

FIYAK

Silver Jedi: Dagos Terrek Dagos Terrek , Madison Starr, Travot Ravenna Travot Ravenna , Brae Kenobi Brae Kenobi .
Location: Tantara-series Corvette Jade Beacon, nearing Bimmisaari.

This was nothing like his classmates had described.

The ground felt cold and hard, and everything around him felt bereft of life unlike the many splendours of his homeworld. As one of the Tantara class Corvette's doors opened with a mechanical hiss, the young Wookiee called Fiyak came stumbling through, albeit a little more clumsily than was intended.

"Roooarrgh ur roo" he complained aloud, his discomfort leading his thoughts in vocal disdain while not having meant to announce his arrival in such a way, the five-foot-tall pup reached out with a paw to steady himself against one of the nearby passenger seats, groaning unintelligibly under his breath. Despite wearing a Personal Universal Translator for the sake of those who did not speak Shyriiwook, it was perhaps a good thing that he had deactivated the device, for the time being, least others hear his bias towards spaceflight.

Fiyak was something of a recent addition to the Order of the Silver Jedi, discovered within the Wookiee capital Rwookrrorro by one of the visiting Jedi, and subsequently being offered the privilege of studying under the Order at the Silver Rest. According to the plan, they were headed for Bimmisaari and one of Fiyak's tutors had suggested the young pup attend for a greater experience of the ever-expanding Galaxy. Fiyak, who had been ever so happy to remain on Kashyyyk, had reluctantly agreed and so here he was now, subjected to the transit of the most unnatural kind he had experienced in his lifetime.

"Aaaarrr wgh ggwaaah" he mumbled further, resigning to drop into the nearby seat with a heavy thump, turning to look upon the nearby group with curious eyes. For the time being, he seemed content to just observe and listen. He didn't know of many at all, and the only young Jedi he had spoken to in any personal manner before now was Jorah zos Darnus. At the very least, he'd be able to get to know some new folk along the way. Providing he didn't embarrass himself out of nervousness at being away from Kashyyyk for the first time.
