OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Corellia Digital
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Model: HoloLink (Second Generation)
  • Modularity: No.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Duralumin (frame, antennae), Flexiplast (back cover), Glasteel (front touchscreen)
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Holocaster. Tap the business holofeeds for the latest stock quotes, economic news, or holovid reports from across the galaxy!
  • Holographic Comm Unit. Embedded HoloNet Transceiver uses the HoloNet data relays for unprecedented galactic range in comlink communications. Texting is also available via a hololetter app built into the mobile O/S. Also includes a broadband antennae for use in local communications networks.
  • Mini Datapad. As the saying goes, there's an app for that. From HoloNet Browsers, to Holoflix or Corellia Digital Music, or even an urban compass, the HoloLink SE has a versatile array of applications made available by both Corellia Digital and third-party developers.
WEAKNESSES
  • HoloNet Connection Required. Access to HoloNet requires access or coverage supplied by a HoloNet service provider. Please see your local service provider for costs, details, and limits of available coverage.
  • Paywall. Holoflix requires a subscription. Corellia Digital Music requires a subscription. What free applications one are apt to find probably have limited features and a ton of ads. Nothing is free on the HoloNet.
  • Electromagnetic Interference. Anything that can disrupt telecommunications or subspace radio transmissions will likewise disrupt this device as a comlink, be that random Sith Lords casting lightning or just heavy ion storms rolling through.
  • Ask Not For Whom The Ion Tolls, It Tolls For Thee. This isn't hardened military communications, its a civilian comlink. An ion blaster is going to destroy this thing.
DESCRIPTION
A wrist-mounted comlink with datapad functionality, the first generation HoloLink was unveiled in 847 ABY as a departure from the company's other products of that period, specifically the minimalist Go! mobile comlink and the robust HoloBoy Advanced. Rather, the HoloLink diverged the company's comlink development toward a corporate market and away from the company's hologaming division. Incorporating the same holographic nanotechnology as the larger HoloBoy Advanced, the first generation HoloLink offered Corellia Digital's robust 3D image scanner and high resolution imagers to produce clear, quality 3D transmissions with minimal loss of data packets. While the comlink audio required little support, full functionality of the device requires a HoloNet connection.

In 848 ABY, the company released a hardened variant of the HoloLink for use by the Silver Jedi Antarian Rangers, which was known as the XJ9. The company later released an update that marketed the Silver Jedi variant to the public in a second gen release marketed as the HoloLink XJ9. In line with that development, the company refreshed and updated the Hololink as well, as it had become the standard for the company's telecommunications branding.

Today, the HoloLink is the entry level model for a family of comlink products: The HoloLink, the HoloLink XJ9, and the HoloLink SE.
