- Wolfpack: Typically deployed in trios and sporting powerful railgun weaponry for tanks or aircraft, as well as blaster cannons for infantry, the Nightcrawler is quite capable of ganging up on even the hardiest targets.
- Eyes n' Ears: The Nightcrawler is as much a recon tank as an infantry support tank, possessing a powerful sensor suite that allows it to scan for nearby objects of interest without directly seeing them, and an advanced and intelligent droid brain capable of interpreting what it sees and planning accordingly.
- All-Terrain: The Nightcrawler is fully amphibious, able to operate when submerged in swamps or small lakes, and capable of handling all but the roughest terrain with its stable 3-tracked movement.
- Pack Mule: The droids' flanks can be opened up to reveal internal magnetic storage lockers, enabling stowage of considerable amounts of gear, and their secondary pontoon treads make a comfortable seat for small numbers of infantry over long drives.
- Light: While it can resist small arms fire with ease, and even heavy weapons to a point, concentrated heavy weapons fire will quickly destroy this vehicle if not halted.
- Ion-Sensitive: The droid's advanced brain and delicate sensor systems are highly vulnerable to ion weapon discharges, and it will typically try to flee from them if it is able.
The Nightcrawler came about as a result of Helix's need for a reliable, quick light armor asset that could do it all and go anywhere.
Armed with a diverse weapons array, the Nightcrawler is capable of engaging infantry, armor, or air targets within most combat ranges, and to compound its effectiveness typically is deployed in small groups of two to four droids, dependent on mission parameters.
Often used in a reconnaisance or infantry support role, the droid excels at the former with its relatively quick movement (a max of around 100kph over even terrain) and powerful sensor arrays, and at the latter with its relatively small size and heavy armaments, able to follow infantry through streets or even larger indoor AOs. Additionally, its structure can support considerable extra weight, and B1H models have been known to hitch rides or store equipment on the droids.
The Nightcrawler's mounted railguns are equipped with automatic ammunition feeds similar to that of the B3S, easing somewhat the weapon's cumbersome reloading process, and the droids will typically stagger their fire, launching approximately 1 shot every 5 seconds per unit.
For all its many virtues, the Nightcrawler is still a comparatively light vehicle, taking small arms fire with ease, and able to absorb brief laser cannon fire or take a rocket or two, but not much more than that. Its complex systems are particularly vulnerable to ion weaponry, and the droids will often retreat when faced down with heavy AV resistance, using their speed to escape and regroup.
