SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Railgun provides devastating anti-armor firepower
  • Advanced targeting algorithms allow accurate shots on moving targets
  • Autoloading system avoids one of the weaknesses of the handheld weapon
  • Density projector allows the droid to effectively mitigate recoil (while immobile)
  • Rolling movement allows swift repositioning when needed.
STRENGTHS
  • Deadly Shot: The Ironbreaker's main (and only) armament is a slow-firing but horrendously powerful heavy railgun, capable of effectively combating heavy infantry or medium vehicles from significant distances.
  • Accurate: The Ironbreaker is equipped with advanced distance and angle calculation systems, allowing it to strike fast or erratically-moving targets with reasonable effectiveness.
  • Fast: The Ironbreaker is capable of the classic droideka's rolling locomotion, and can quickly retreat when needed.
WEAKNESSES
  • Glass Cannon: The power draw from the Ironbreaker's railgun is extreme, so much so that the shield generator often associated with droidekas is not a feature of their design. Additionally, much of the standard droideka's armor has been stripped to allow faster retreats, and as a result, they are highly vulnerable to return fire, and are best kept out of it.
  • Expensive: As with many of Helix's nastier droids, the Ironbreaker is expensive both to produce and to field, and as such they are typically absent from battlefields where their long-range hitting power will not be required.
  • Setup Time: The Ironbreaker's main armament requires nearly ten seconds to vent the incredible heat generated by the firing process, or it risks damage to the barrel. Additionally, the droideka must spend some time activating its density projector to handle the significant force of the weapon's recoil, and is thus entirely immobile while in firing mode.
DESCRIPTION

The B3S was conceived as a result of limited encounters with Beskar-wearing Mandalorians, heavy vehicles, and other extremely hard targets that the B1H's blaster rifles couldn't scratch. Helix needed a droid capable of sending these difficulties packing if it was to be ready to stand on its own upon the modern battlefield.

The droid solved most of these issues with grace. It was just as swift-moving as the classic droideka chassis, but now with the addition of a heavy-duty railgun to combat all but the hardest of targets.

The Ironbreaker's effect on enemy morale was difficult to overstate. Producing a thunderous "boom-crack" when firing its weapon, followed by a blinding streak of white as the projectile moved at a comfortable multiplier of the speed of sound towards its target, the Ironbreaker turned heads when it first hit the field.

Typically, Helix's testing showed that even armored infantry do not long survive under Ironbreaker attention, though the main weapon's painfully-slow cooling process limits its effectiveness against infantry targets. Vehicles scarcely fare better, with all but the best-armored (or shielded) being ideal targets for the droid.

Lastly, the droid is equipped with an autoloading system hooked to a sizeable internal ammunition store, easing the cumbersome reloading process of the handheld version of its main weapon.

Despite its virtues, the Ironbreaker suffers from serious fragility, as the miniature reactor that traditionally powers a droideka's shields is not sufficient to manage the ravenous power draw of the main weapon and any serious protection. Canny enemy forces will simply spread out and destroy these droids with return fire, as their frames are quite vulnerable to even moderate small-arms reprisal.

Additionally, the droid is inefficient against large numbers of infantry, as the substantial recoil of their weapon demands the use of a density projector to lock it in place, as the droid cannot kneel or go prone like more humanoid infantry. This difficulty is compounded by the fact that it requires nearly ten full seconds to ventilate the blast of waste heat created by the sheer kinetic violence of the projectile leaving the barrel. As any soldier will tell you, ten seconds while under enemy fire may as well be eternity...
