- Battlefield Range: One of the necessities of a sniper rifle is having a significant range and the AMR-01 achieves this with the use of a long barrel and the cartridge it uses
- Extreme Stopping Power: Just like the HMG-01 the AMR-01 uses the 14.5x114mm, a round known for not only its extreme range but extreme stopping power as well
- Large and Heavy: The nature of rifle itself requires it to be rather large and heavy to reduce recoil of it on the shooter and therefore improve accuracy
- Low Rate of Fire: In order to increase the effective accuracy of the rifle the design team limited the rate of fire on the rifle
After finishing work on the SR-01 the Hekler'Kok design team began working on a large caliber version of it for uses at extreme range and against light vehicles and armor. The team however found out that simply making a larger version of the SR-01, the same way they had done with previous rifles in their lineup, would not work this as the operating system weren't suitable so instead they created a whole new system. After figuring out this system they went to work on the materials to be used in the rifle. The materials were kept relatively the same as the SR-01 except they replaced the Plastoid of the grip, stock and handguard with the durable Plasteel to better deal with the stress of such a large cartridge.
As always the team began work on the features they would include in the rifle after the design and materials decision. As is typical with Hekler'Kok weapons they included ambidextrous controls to give better comfort to all shooters. The replaced the Hekler'Kok traditional telescoping stock with a solid stock that in which they included a cheek riser for comfort and a folding integrated monopod for better stability while shooting. They added the typical optic and accessory rails for user customization but replaced the grip/bipod rail for an integrated bipod instead. They kept the threaded heavy barrel from the SR-01, obviously rechambered for the larger round, though each rifle comes with custom muzzle brake to help reduce recoil. They team modified the recoil buffer and gas piston system found in the AR-01, BR-01 and SR-01 to fit the larger rifle. Finally the team added a 3-Pin Take Down System which allows the upper and lower receiver to easier storage and transport.
