The Galactic Republic has as head of state and head of the government the Supreme Chancellor with the executive branch formed by the Office of the Chancellor which consists of the immediate staff of the Supreme Chancellor, the second highest official in the office is the Vice-Chair who serves as both vice chanchellor and speaker of the Galactic Senate. The legislative branch is formed by the Galactic Senate which consists of hundreds of Senators who represents the man worlds of the galaxy and are either elected or appionted (in some case they are the planetary leader) and is led by the Supreme Chancellor who is elected by and from the representatives, it is didived into numerous committees and subcommittees each headed by a Chairman such as the Senatorial Council which is the leadership body for the Senate and is headed by the Supreme Chancellor, the antislavery committee, the committee for transportation of construction material which deals with the transportation of contruction materials to planets in the Mid Rim and is headed by Senator Bail Organa, the tranportation committee which is focussed on the transportation of goods and is headed by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, the Allocation Committee which supervises the budget of the Republic , taxation and government revenue, the Ethics Committee is considered a spiritual partner of the Judiciary's Committee's Internal Activities Committee has the power to investigate Senators and other govenment officials and in order to do tis can issue supoenas for wittnesses for hearings and, altough simular to the Internal Activities Committee, is restricted to givings censures and cannot file recommodations for criminal charges but despite this censures by the committee ussually creates enough public pressure to force a criminal conviction, the Finance Committee is the parent committee for all subcommittes that relate to all budgetary and financial concerns of the Galactic Republic (there are countless subcommittees which are concerned with matters such as revenue generation, government grants approval, annual budgets and emergeny relief fund appropriations), the Financial Appropriation Committee supêrvises, among other things, monetary grants issued by the Galactic Republic to various charities and organisations and has the reputation to be stiff-necked, the Judiciary Committee contains the Internal Activities Committee whic his considerd a spiritual partner to the Ethics Committe and has the power to bring forth criminal charges on individuals, a Senate Action Committee is a temporary committee that is made to manage specific problems such as trade disputes, regional conflicts and first contacts, the Senate Budgetary Committee oversees the development of the budget for the Galactic Republic, the Senate Committee on New World Discovery and Exploration is responible for funding as well as furthering exploration attempts of the galaxy, the Senate Guard Committee is tasked with oversseeing the Senate guard, the Captain of the Guard answer to it and they are advised by members of the Judicial Department, the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee oversees the Senate Bureau of intelligence and is responible for approving SBI operations and programs, the Senate Interspecies Advisory Committee, or SIAC, is aimed to limit inter-species tensions and to mediate an end to inter-species conflicts that often occor and consists of Senators, Jedi and other experts, The Senate Investigative Committee, or Senate Investigatory Committee, presumably oversees Senate investigations, the Senate Military Oversight Committee is concerned with the military spending required to defend constituant planets and oversses the Judicial Forces, Planetary Defense Forces and ,during the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Republic, the Senate Rotunda Preservation Committee tasks is to erdicate granate slugs and to keep the Senate Rotunda architectually sound, the Senate Security Committee is concerned with the security of Senators and the Republic as a whole. there are a number of organisation attached to the Senate such as the Senate Bureau of Intelligence, abbreviated to SBI, which is the largest civilian intelligence organisation in the Galactic Republic and is headed by a SBI Director, the Senate Library which records include the services of the various Senators and their aides, the Senate Mining Bureau, the Trade Commission oversses trade and commerce throughout the galaxy and mediates disputes in such matters, the Travel and Transport Bureau is responsible for investigating troubles concerining transportation ships across the galaxy
