Private Golden Slumbers | Tython Aftermath

They would make it work. They were both Jedi. And by 'it' Coren really meant life. So many worlds spinning in their own style of chaos. Allowing people to not be subjugated, while it was free, it also bred chaos. Something opposite of what the Sith did, control and create order. And the chaos that freedom allowed it let people get hurt, it didn't make it so someone's life could be properly ordered. Jedi were, themselves, disciplined and ordered, but the Jedi that he kept around him, they were more than that. Maybe they were all Wayseekers, when compared to the Yoda of legends.

When the cold of Midvinter hit, the Jedi Master flinched as he ran an arm around Celeste's shoulder, rubbing her arm and holding her to him. This was a world that was much different than the warmth and traditional life of Kashyyyk or Kattada, but not unlike Sullust… In an opposite sort of way. He'd been to Midvinter a handful of times in his travels, back in the days of the Levantine Sanctum. He still preferred the temperate and tropical worlds.

Or ones that didn't get frozen over. But this could be an interesting world to tour, once Thurion was well.

Knowing Coci was waiting did not make the day any easier. Following the gathered, Coren could sense that there were others, the Heavenshield clan. A bit more numerous than the Starchasers, that was for certain. "Your father fought well. Its going to take more than getting a moon dropped on you to take out Thurion." Coren said, immediately regretted the whole moon-fall mention.

"Your father fought well. Its going to take more than getting a moon dropped on you to take out Thurion."

"Master Starchaser," Théodred greeted the familiar Coren with a bow of his head, honouring his elder. "I remember you from when I was a boy. Father always regarded you as a brother; a Heavenshield in all but name. Thank you for bringing him home, Uncle."

Dismissing the retinue of guards, old man Bors with the help of his grand-nephew Thirdas carried the body the last stretch through the doorway until the King was safely laid to rest on the bed, at long last reunited with his Queen. They both appeared sleeping, as if but a shake of their shoulder might rouse them, but he knew this was not the case. Only now did it strike the elder, as he watched the couple lay side by side, that should this be the end, then no finer way was there for these two to depart this world for the next.

Turning to the Young Lion by his side, Grey-Boar rested a hand on the Prince's shoulder. "That's it, lad. We've done our part. What happens next rests on your mother and father, bless their souls." Bors then stood in the doorway to signal the others that they may enter to be present for the reawakening. Besides, the old man believed in having loved ones near during crucial moments.

One by one the members of House Heavenshield entered the chamber, surrounding the large bed on either side. Little Thyri clutched his mother Ylva and father Théo, cheeks still wet with tears. Nina brought Alva to sit by her mother as Thirdas sidled up to her, all while the Old Boar maintained a vigil by the door.

Coren, Caltin, and the other Jedi were more than welcome to be present as well. They'd all earned the right for saving the life of his beloved nephew; the last remaining piece of his blood brother, long since departed.

"Look," Nina was first to notice the King and Queen's fingers had intertwined in stark defiance of their non-responsive state. "Hope."

Far ahead along the horizon, the orange sun had begun to set, casting hues of red and pink against the blue skies. A man could be forgiven for thinking this place was real, forgetting about his troubles and forsaking all responsibilities for a peaceful eternity. Thanks to his Coci, Thurion knew not to give in to the temptation of letting go. The only thing real in this place was her.

"It's almost time, isn't it," he asked. Coci nuzzled into his neck. "Yes."

Together they sat out on their porch, watching the sunset as waves gently lapped against the wood underneath their feet. "Forgive me, my friend," he said next, which furrowed her brows. "How many times now have you been left to watch me set out for the stars, all for the sake of some council meeting or to partake in another in a long line of battles? How many times did I put you and the little ones through hell? How many sleepless nights because of me?"

His wife's fingertips caressing his lips bid him stop.

"They are not so little anymore," she teased smiling. "Not once have I suffered a sleepless night because of you, my love. The mere knowledge of you being out there; protecting others from harm, saving lives, being you... It soothes me, knowing you bring hope and joy to all those people. That's the man I married so long ago. The same man I now see before me. Our time comes now."

Coci then rose from where they sat, bidding that Thurion lie down. He clutched her hand once more. "Please don't go."

"By the time you open your eyes," she comforted him, "only smiles will await you. And so will I. Sleep..."

The increasing softness of her voice lulled him back to sleep, drifting off until the imaginary world around him faded to white. A sharp inhale of air served to fill his lungs anew, causing his chest to steadily rise and fall. The warmth of the sheets was the first thing he felt, coupled with the familiar scent of candlelight. Next, he felt someone holding his hand. Slowly his head turned sideways, and as his eyelids at long last came undone, the first sight he laid eyes on in the waking world was that of his beloved wife looking back at him.

The two shared a most heartfelt smile, gentle and pure. No words were necessary.

"Grandpa?"

Thurion painstakingly turned his head the other way, finding poor Thyri softly tugging at his sleeve. Their eyes met, and he responded by way of caressing the boy's hand with his finger. Speaking still proved too difficult. His grandson broke down in tears once more and lay his head upon Grandpa's shoulder, overwhelmed with emotion. Too weak to embrace him, Thurion simply leaned his head against Thyri's, hoping to provide some comfort.

Only now did he notice the other faces in the room, each one belonging to a loved one, family and friend alike. Each more teary-eyed than the next.

"He-llo," he was able to muster a raspy whisper, realising he'd not spoken a word for who knows how long. Finally, his eyes found the distinct shape of Caltin among those gathered. This man had gone to hell and back with him throughout the Battle of Tython. Somehow he knew he had him to thank for bringing him home.

He said nothing, but instead balled his hand into a fist and rested it upon his chest. To his people, such a gesture was not to be taken lightly; it meant that from this day until the end of time, Thurion would regard Caltin as his worthy brother. From this day forward, he was considered family.

The emotional tension was finally released when Grey-Boar proudly proclaimed: "The King lives! Long live the King!"

Ylva Heavenshield had rushed to the outdoors as soon as she'd been informed of the nature of their guest's arrival, the state of the King and Queen and about some conflict beyond Midvinters realm in very quick and little detail on her way towards the front of the keep, the crowd had gathered at the main gates and leaving her to push her way between them, Ylva's hand reached out for Thyri Heavenshield Thyri Heavenshield and Thora Heavenshield Thora Heavenshield first while all other faces had fallen unfamiliar as her gaze found that of Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield laying upon his back, unmoving and causing her to gasp in shock. Their King was as strong as he was compassionate, and had been a great mentor to her during the most trying times of her life.

Her thoughts immediately returned to Thora and Thyri, whom she looked down to, a deeply concerned and saddened gaze as she wished they hadn't been present to see Thurion in such a state. Nearby, she found Alva Heavenshield Alva Heavenshield keeping close to the children and bid her an appreciative smile, having to try to show warmth despite the sorrow that had run her through.

"He-llo".

Her eyes widened and her head snapped back to look upon Thurion in disbelief. "The King lives! Long live the King!" someone shouted, bringing immediate relief washing over her, although having to draw in closer in order to believe it. Alongside Thurion there were others. Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser and Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor whom she didn't recognize yet were obviously responsible for bringing him home; and finally, Valae Heavenshield Valae Heavenshield who Ylva did know and bid her a smile filled with warmth.

"Thank the Gods" she spoke under her breath, a heavy exhale leaving her as she reached out to place a hand upon Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield 's arm, "You're home again..." she told him, hoping to ease his return to consciousness with the knowledge that he was indeed back where he belonged. Midvinter and among loving family.

Celeste stayed close to Coren, sheltered in the warmth of his arm around her as they entered the keep. As the king was brought through to be reunited with his wife, Celeste remained quiet. The sense of unease was palpable. However, so, too, was the force – the Heavenshield clan, the king and queen, and the other Jedi that had joined them. It was quite something.

With the family gathered around the bedside, Celeste chose to stay just outside the room. She let go of Coren's arm, in case he wished to be there when the king hopefully awoke. To her, it felt like an intrusion, though they'd been invited.

For a moment, she simply took in her surroundings. The keep was quite impressive, and truth be told, once Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield was looked after, she needed some rest. And tea, perhaps a hot cup of tea would do her well. A quiet sigh escaped Celeste as she thought of her children… rest would have to wait until after a quick call home.

Hushed voices drew her attention, and she peeked in to see that the king was stirring from sleep.

"Good," she whispered, smiling.

Valae glanced up to see the others filing into the room. She watched as Thurion was placed gently on the bed, and her eyes lingered on him for a long moment. Though, she knew the day would come... she was glad it was not today. Despite the stillness, it brought a faint smile to her face to see her father with such a tranquil expression. It was a comforting thought to know that Coci was with him.

Alva was soon at her side, and Valae flashed Nina an appreciative glance. Her daughter's teary red eyes said it all. She wrapped the teen in a hug, and whispered, "just you wait -- he's fine." As she embraced her daughter, it was with a slight sadness that she realized Alva was now taller than she was. She supposed it had been this way for months now, but the realization was startling. She let her gaze shift to Ylva Heavenshield and Thora, who'd been born shortly before Alva. My, time really did fly. It made her even more thankful that Thurion had returned to Midvinter.

This world -- this galaxy -- would not be the same without him.

Returning her attention to Thurion and Coci, Valae kept her senses attuned to them both. Their presences were steady, but there were small shifts -- like someone waking from a pleasant dream. Her smile widened as the king opened his eyes, and she was glad to be there to greet him.

"Welcome home," she said, nodding. And Alva burst into tears, earning another squeeze from her mother.

Caltin, an arm around his wife’s shoulder (hers around his as well), just stood there and watched quietly. What else could be done at that point? Thurion was laid next to his wife, and almost instinctively their fingers laced, this was not only a great sign but it was more proof that it was all up to him at this point. Rubbing Chrysa’s back was more therapeutic for him in his eyes than for her (though it was indeed appreciated to be sure) he slowly slipped his jacket over her shoulders. Caltin wore a thick tunic and his body armor was heat regulated anyway, so he could deal with the bite of cold weather.

It gave him pause at first when Caltin had thought about where he would take The Forge to be cared for in the interim of the planet’s healing. What eased that frame of mind was just looking at the care the people took to the details of their signage in the kingdom, let alone the horse stables or the treatment of the buildings, the tapestries and banners. The more Vanagor looked around, the more he was convinced that he was making the right decision.

Then his eyes met Thurion’s. The fist on the chest meant (at least to Caltin) a warrior’s way of showing respect, and even a “thank you.” No matter how much he wanted to sit down, or at least lean against the nearby wall, he would not out of (if nothing else) the respect he has for the people of the planet.

His free hand slowly forming a fist and resting on his own chest, he simply mouthed the words “We made it.”

What else was there? Thurion saved his life, he saved Thurion’s life… they were bonded in that way.

At least to Caltin.

This was the truth though, it would take more than a moon to stop Thurion Heavenshield. Or Caltin Vanagor. These were the Jedi he aspired to be. Strong, stalwart. Looking to Bors, the Corellian smiled. "It is good to see you Theodred. The feeling is always mutual. The Jedi families need to be this close, I feel. We weren't about to leave anyone behind." Though there were others of his extended Jedi family who he was unsure of their status after the fight.

But the planet survived. Many Jedi did too.

As he and his wife awaited with the Heavenshields, knowing only time was going to mend this last bridge, he looked from Celeste to Caltin. He was unsure of where he should stay and did follow Celeste through the door. His presene, and hers as well, would still be with the Heavenshields, but it was the family and Caltin, the deliverer, who should be there, truthfully.

"That was not a battle I wanted. No battle is any that I want any longer… I just…" He was speaking to his wife to fill the void. That was when he heard the commotion inside. A sigh of relief, and the air was almost palpably lighter as the stress Starchaser was holding was released.

He'd step inside shortly.

Coci was quicker to regain her strength, having only submerged herself in the Force for a few hours compared to her husband. She sat up on her side of the bed, gathering herself as Bors appeared to offer a wrinkly yet strong hand to assist his Queen in getting back on her feet. Nina stepped over to embrace her mother, who in turn held her oldest child and caressed her beautiful snow-white hair.

Thirdas, her youngest, was next in line to embrace his mother. Despite being the most mischievous of the group, there was no fear of wearing his heart on his sleeve where the well-being of his parents and siblings was concerned. In front of his men, he was strong and fiery, but he assumed the role of the youngest son in private.

She then strode over to the biggest presence in the room, a stranger she'd never met before. Somehow she knew, however, that she had him to thank for bringing her husband home. "Master Vanagor, I presume," she greeted the man and the lady at his side with a formal bow of the head, then stepped in to take his strong hands in hers, looking up at him with sheer gratitude. "Thank you, for the life of my better half." She then leaned in to place a platonic kiss on his cheek.

Meanwhile, little Thyri was returned to his mother to give his grandfather some breathing room. Théodred, Crown Prince of Midvinter, knelt by his father's side. His father's lips moved, yet he could not hear him. Leaning closer, Thurion pushed out the words: "Help me up, my boy."

Father and son let their foreheads touch, allowing Théo to release a sigh of relief. This was considered one of the most intimate of gestures, usually reserved for family members or very close friends. The son allowed a few tears of joy before wrapping his arms around his frail father, carefully lifting him to a sitting position, his legs dangling over the side of the bed. Taking a step back, Théodred felt it only proper to get down on one knee with his head lowered.

"Rise, O Lion King," he bid while urging the others in the room to follow his lead. His boy Thyri was the first to join his Papa in kneeling, almost disappearing among so many giants. Thirdas and Nina joined in as well. Only Coci remained on her feet as she appeared before her husband, now in the flesh. She held out her hand.

Though weak, he fixated on his wife while grabbing hold of the bedhead for support, pouring enough strength into his arms that the wood almost buckled. It took a lot of effort, but slowly but surely the Lion King rose to his feet, wobbly though his legs still were. He drew in a long, deep breath before reaching for Coci's hand. Then, with a surprisingly strong tug, he pulled her in for the deepest of kisses, relieving the moment of its solemnity.

The two lovers embraced, both silently thanking the stars above for this moment. The first of many, no doubt.

At this time Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser appeared in the doorway. Eyeing his old friend over the shoulder of his beloved, he was aided by Coci in taking the handful of steps over to him and Celeste Rigel Celeste Rigel by his side. He wasted no time in embracing the couple all at once, for besides the fact that he considered them as much family as his flesh and blood, he was just as relieved to see them safe and sound.

"My dear brother and sister," his voice regained more of its former glory with each word uttered. "You look terrible." Giving Coren an extra pat on his shoulder coupled with a wink, he next turned to Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor over in the corner of the room. At his bidding Coci steered him there, holding him by the arm. She didn't take him all the way, however.

The last couple steps the King took on his own until finally stood before the man he knew to be his saviour. He did not embrace Caltin, at least not in the traditional sense. Instead he reached out to cup the sides of Caltin's head to bring it towards him until their foreheads touched similarly to how the firstborn son had greeted his old man earlier.

He held him there, allowing the moment to breathe and the gravity of the gesture to sink in. Eventually, Thurion did put his arms around Caltin, one of few non-Valkyri to match him in size and width. "From this day, until the end of time," he whispered past his ear, "Caltin Vanagor is as my brother and a Heavenshield in all but name. Gods bless you, my dear Cal."

Thurion then felt a tug at his sleeve in the form of his grandson, who upon being noticed held out his arms. Feeling stronger by the minute, Grandpa lifted the boy into that special embrace only shared between grandparents and their grandchildren. This finally brought a smile to the lad, who clung to him for dear life. Thurion was further pounced upon by the rest of his children and grandchildren, each joining the family hug with newfound joy and laughter, almost causing the overwhelmed patriarch to fall over.

“Blood relatives often have nothing to do with family, and similarly, family is about who you choose to make your life with.” - Anne Tyler

Celeste Rigel Celeste Rigel and Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser were leaving. Caltin felt that maybe he should as well as this was a family moment and while he was a guest here, they all were, the big man was beginning to feel like he was imposing. It was nice to see the man finally able to be with his family without the worry of when he might ship out to the next theater of concern, but this was their personal time, they could catch up later.

It was when he was about to leave and made his way over to the corner, towards the door when her highness rose to her feet. It was slow and downtrodden, like she had been through the trauma of a lifetime. It was awkward, but the Queen was making her way towards him, directly towards him. When she addressed him, and gave thanks for saving Thurion, it hit him.

I did nothing that noone other in this room would have. In fact if it weren’t for those two over there… he pointed towards Coren and Celeste… We probably would not have had the strength to do what we had done. I’m no one special, I just gave everyone a ride here.

Ever the altruistic one, the massive Jedi Master did not want to take credit for something that he felt everyone had a hand in. It was almost as if she would have none of it as the Queen took his free arm and turned him around, turning him to face the revitalizing Kind of Midvinter who was now on his feet. Chrysa’s hand slipped off of him but she left an approving wink in its place. The standoff was an odd one.

The cupping of his face was going down “that” road.

What was there to say? Everything that the Lion King was saying slammed him right in the “feels.” Coren was a war hero, Celeste was a legend in her own right, they were both Jedi who were looked up to in this time. They deserved to be recognized but apparently they were already looked on as such. To say that Caltin had felt “honored” was a bit of an understatement. He didn’t know how to take this, so he just let it sink in. Everyone around him seemed to know what was going on, but if they were expecting some kind of speech, they would be out of luck. Not out of disrespect, but it would be gibberish right now.

I didn't do anything that you wouldn't have done, my friend.

Taking a step back and letting the younglings embrace their grandfather, Caltin turned to face his wife who had such a look of appreciation and pride in her smile. She even wiped his eyes after putting her arms around his neck and his around her waist. With that, he whispered to her.

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Celeste glanced up at Coren when he spoke, and she gave a nod of understanding. Even though he hadn't finished, she instantly knew what he was getting at. She'd seen it wearing on him. However, it was a conversation she'd hold onto for later.

For the moment, she smiled as Master Heavenshield rose to his feet.

Blinking in surprise, Celeste was taken aback when the former grandmaster made his way over and embraced them. She reached a hand up to his shoulder and gave a squeeze. "We're just happy to have you back," she said, the tone of her voice revealing relief.

As Thurion moved on to thanking Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor , Celeste watched him with a fond smile. She may not have gotten out if not for him. The rising waters on Tython wouldn't be forgotten any time soon.

She gave Coren's arm a gentle tug.

"You do look terrible," Celeste said, echoing the King's jest. "How about some rest?"

Alva joined the group hug forming around Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield . And for a moment, she stood with her hand against her mouth – covering the sobs that were still coming. Despite the tears, she was happy.

She glanced at her mom, Valae Heavenshield Valae Heavenshield , who seemed to be watching Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor . Alva took note. Wiping her eyes, she attempted to make herself more presentable. She made her way over, and once grandpa had finished speaking with him, she came to stand before the tall man.

"Thank you,"
Alva said, holding her hand out to the Jedi master. "For bringing my grandpa back."

A smile formed on her face, and she offered the man a small bow. "I'd be honored to train with you someday." Alva said, nodding.

The old man kept in the background, wiping a wayward tear from the corner of his wrinkled eyes. A collective sigh of relief had been breathed by those present for the King's reawakening, for the Queen's prophetic words had rung true in every way. With Thurion back on his feet, hope was kindled anew. Ever the organiser, Bors stepped outside briefly only to bump into a dozen or so hopefuls eager to catch a glimpse of the excitement, from kitchen staff to custodians.

Grey-Boar eyed a scrawny young man holding a broom, clearly yet to reach adulthood. "You, lad. Come here," he waved his over before whispering a few select words for his ears only. The teen nodded excitedly and bolted through the main entrance.

Giving the others a look of reassurance, Bors re-entered the room.

"Your Grace," his voice carried above all others, interrupting the family celebrations. Thurion gently pushed his way through the small yet clingy crowd of children and grandchildren to stand before the man his father called "brother".

"If you are well enough," he inquired upon presenting his liege with his crown sitting on a velvet cushion. The King nodded reluctantly, realising the point Bors was making. The burden of the crown was not to be taken lightly, however, it was more than that. This time was different in that the moment he dons the crown anew, he is well and truly putting his Jedi days behind him, once and for all. "The people wish to witness their Lion King roar once more."

The Gryphon Crown was placed upon his head with its silvery wings against a golden circlet. Coci sidled up to her husband, giving him a reassuring squeeze of the hand. Still draped in the blue and gold banner, Thurion stepped outside alongside his wife to a row of house staff bowing in unison. Thanking each of them, the King next found himself standing before the main entrance. A look of adoration was shared between husband and wife, soon followed by the loud creaking of heavy wooden doors.

The outside was deathly quiet as an entire city's worth of people stared in disbelief, some of whom dared not hope what they saw was real. Taking a few more steps, his stride still a bit hobbled, a lone voice from amidst the crowd finally broke the eerie silence.

"He lives! The Lion lives!"

A massive crescendo of cheers broke out across the city of Heavenheim as people fell to their knees in sheer elation, their knees giving way to such unbridled joy. To some this was just as much an intense religious experience: As far as they knew, Thurion Heavenshield had been felled in battle only to rise again. If ever there was any doubt as to whether this man indeed was the son of a god, such doubts were now well and truly eradicated.

"Long live the King," the people chanted so loudly it deafened the ear. "Long live the King! Long live the King!"

Appearing behind the King and Queen were family and friends united in celebration. Tower bells not long ago rung in mourning were now jubilant in their exuberance, ringing throughout the city.

Thurion the Jedi, former Grandmaster and Council member, was no more; buried beneath the waves back on Tython. This day marked his rebirth into the one and only High King of Midvinter, beholden to none other but these people before him.

And long may he reign.

There was the overwhelming sense of relief when the Lion King awoke. Stepping, in Coren looked to Caltin and back to Thurion. With the man's first words, the Jedi Master gave an abashed and faux shocked look. "Me? I… It was a battle. Not easy when the people I bring are getting knocked around!" He laughed, knowing that this was not what he intended when he brought Celeste and Thurion, and reached out to the other Silvers, to happen when they came to the fight. "I left on my own feet at least." A wink towards Thurion as he turned.

The words for Caltin, those were the ones that really needed to be said. The Corellian had taken a step back, providing the limelight for the real hero of this small cadre. Caltin held the fight in a way Coren couldn't any longer. The fight was there, but the will, it was going with every week on the Rim, and away from the fight. Not to mention that the Big Jedi did single handedly haul Thurion from the threatened world.

"Trust me, Caltin, all our skills are needed, but what you did? That was some above and beyond the call, even for a Jedi."
Looking to his wife.

"Rest would do me well. Maybe here for a few days, and head back to Kattada when we know Thurion is good?"
Having Celeste's healer hands around couldn't hurt, after all.

The following day, after a still weakened Thurion could no longer bring himself to sit through yet another delegation of well-wishers, there was finally a moment for him and his Jedi companions to hold council regarding the events of Tython and what repercussions it may hold for the future. This was no formal gathering, but rather a chance for old friends to speak frankly without the decorum of official Jedi business. Wooden benches covered with various furs and animal skins were set up around a fire pit at the centre of the throne room, where a celebratory feast had taken place the prior eve.

A few members of House Heavenshield would actively participate in these talks, while others would go about their day with less interest in Jedi business; although many members had received Jedi training in the past, and still counted themselves among their ranks, their plight had long since become firmly focused on the protection and furthering of their homeworld.

Coci sat beside her husband, caressing his hand in her lap while he regaled the loved ones of his "last crusade" to both great amusement and horror. Little Thyri sat on his grandfather's knee, listening intently to the larger-than-life story. Meanwhile, the boy's father Théodred tended to the fire with Ylva by his side. Whether any of them actually believed the crazy tales told was another matter altogether!

"...and then Cal and I harnessed the awesome power of magma to launch ourselves up through the earth, smashing through the tunnel ceiling until we popped out the other end unscathed! Naturally, the battle back on the surface had completely deteriorated without us being there to lend a hand, what with the moon being destroyed and the subsequent flooding--"

"I think we get the picture, love," his wife interjected with a nudge of her elbow before rolling her eyes at the others. "That's completely ridiculous," their boy Théo chimed in while poking the logs on the fire. "Sounds about right to me," he added for Ylva's ears only with a sly smirk on his lips.

Hearty laughs were shared until eventually, Thurion shifted focus to the matter at hand.

"It does weigh upon me," he turned to the Jedi in the room with sudden solemnity, "that the Maw could be so bold as to target the heart of the Jedi Order and strike with such zeal. We may have won the field that day, but I fear their resolve remains strong as ever. This war is far from over. Tython will take years to recover; decades, perhaps centuries."

His gaze wandered over to Caltin. "You did well to rescue the ancient Forge before departing, Cal. Though I feel unworthy of such an honour, Midvinter will not fail the trust you've put in us. It will be safe here, I swear it. Until such a time comes when it might see home again."

He looked across to Coren and Celeste. "I believe these events have only reinforced the need for the Jedi to come together, once and for all. I may be retired as of yesterday, but I would gladly lend my voice to further our cause whenever necessary. We cannot go on like this, shattered into little pieces when our enemies stand united."

Giving his grandchild a kiss on the head, the lad slid off his knee to nestle down between his mother and father. All this grown-up talk made him feel sleepy.

“We cannot be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We stand together until the end.” - Woodrow T. Wilson

No, it’s true.I have a sore hip flexor to prove it from the flailing once we broke the surface. Though he was telling the truth, Caltin recalled the detail in a way that was silly and jovial in order to bring giggles and laughter from the children gathered. Especially when he mimicked the flailing he had done. He was busy sipping on whatever punch it was that they were servin all the while Chrysa Vanagor Chrysa Vanagor , his wife was busy teaching one of the little girls how to braid another’s hair.

He did comment on Thurion’s concern about the attack on Tython. They are going to do what they are going to do, and their paths do not change. If the Jedi thwarted an attempted attack on Tython, they would simply come up with another plan. “Every failure was a blueprint for success.” It was not his concern to dwell over, he would simply stand where he belonged, between the oppressed and those who would oppress them.

He was still thinking about what Coren had said the other day, which is why he did not try to downplay his actions when it came to saving “The Forge.” He did understand the importance in doing so and that was precisely why the big man would not leave without the huge machine. You can trust me, in understanding the gravity of what that meant. No other planet. No other culture could show that the respect it deserves. No malice meant towards anyone else, but I made the right choice.

The next few words the Lion King had spoken struck a nerve with the Massive Jedi Master, he knew more than well the notion of “One Jedi Order” was an important one. Caltin himself had wanted it since the moment he had learned that Orders were separated in the way they were. Over time though, there was something else to all of the galaxy, a change in mind and body. I for one agree with you, there needs to be unity to us, and not just “allies”, but one united Order. That being said, what about the good that has been done with the way things are though? The New Jedi Order are finding their place in the galaxy, something they were troubled with in the past. The Silvers are evolving as well. The Ashlan Crusade are an interesting lot, but they are servants of the light in their own right too. What I'm trying to say is that we can come together while still remaining unique.

Celeste felt worlds better than she had yesterday.

The fatigue of battle had been vanquished by a good night's sleep. Of course, some bumps and bruises remained – but they were bearable. The healer couldn't help but smile as Master Heavenshield recounted the events of Tython for his family, much in the way someone might tell tales around a campfire. And she eyed Coren fondly out of the corner of her eyes; she'd heard similar stories whenever he returned home.

As Thurion looked to her and Coren, Celeste took in his words. The need for the Jedi to come together, one and for all. Yes, she could see that. There seemed to be Jedi operating as different cells – a common goal, yes, but not wholly united the way their enemy had been. She recalled something from long ago, when Jedi had attempted something to that effect, without success. It wasn't as easy when put into practice.

Caltin seemed to hit the nail on the head – come together while remaining unique. But it did raise the question… how could they become a more unified front?

"I agree," Celeste said with a nod. "Though, the question for me is… how?"

She wasn't well-versed in great battles like the others, so she'd look to them for guidance. "Coren and I are more than happy to lend any help we can." Celeste eyed Coren, wondering if he'd make a similar announcement as Thurion… that retirement was imminent or if the call of battle would come again.

The tropical based Starchasers were definitely going to be having a harder time on Midvinter, or at least, Coren was. Coastal Corellia and Kattada were a far cry from what he was experiencing currently. Now that Tython was safe, he was happy. The bed was warm, the company was… well, his favorite, and made it even more warm. He wasn't about to resettle over on Midvinter, but for now? It was not a bad place. The next day was nice, spending the morning with Celeste, before finding the Heavenshields, and seeing Thurion recounting the tales, he was smiling. The Starchasers needed to get together again.

And that included Atticus.

"Since I stepped away from the major galactic conflicts, from the Alliance of Sullust and to a lesser extent, the Silvers…" Though Kattada was in the Concord. "My goal has been being a wayseeker, and finding the remnants of the Jedi, linking them in with the Academy Network. Or whatever we can do…"

"Setting up a system for us all to work as one Order, united, even if under different umbrellas is important. It's a matter of getting there, something I've been working on. New Jedi Order, Silver, whoever, they're Jedi at their core, its the approach…" And with Thurion, Caltin, Celeste and he, maybe this was the group to unite, or further the cracks.

The word made the rounds, allowing each party present to make their voice heard on the matter. It certainly wasn't the first time the subject was discussed; he'd attended far more conventions and enclaves revolving around that very topic with little to no progress being made. Still, he felt it a worthy cause if it paid off in the end. To see the Jedi united once more... now that would be a fitting end to his involvement.

He was there to see the Order shattered, and he would very much like to see it restored to its former glory before his time was at hand.

"I wish Romi Jade Romi Jade were here," he simply stated once the word had returned to him, briefly looking to Coci by his side who gave his hand a loving squeeze. "She would know what to say. Give us direction. I still maintain she represents the hope of a united Jedi Order; her work behind the scenes has been instrumental in restoring relations and communication between the many enclaves around the galaxy."

"I will tell you what I told her, last we spoke,"
he continued. "I believe there needs to be a High Council of sorts, one consisting of members from each Jedi group with equal say in matters, and together this council would lend official support to the various factions and their orders. It would guarantee each enclave would answer to the High Council, rather than whatever political body housing them, else risk losing that support. Jedi cannot be beholden to senators or politicians, we've seen where that takes us too many times before. We serve the people, and we serve the Force - not some government, however 'altruistic' their values."

Coci could be seen agreeing with her husband, nodding sagely.

"As Grandmaster of one such enclave, I support this idea. The Dawnguard owes no allegiance to the ruling body of this world, but we do serve at the pleasure of the good people of Midvinter. We have no hand in running it, but we do help out whenever and wherever we can. I wish I could say the same of all Jedi groups out there."

"Coren," he turned to his old friend. "Do you think Kattada would support the creation of such a council? Would the other members of the Academy Network?"
