      • Considered to be the standard energy module, this module fires an ethaerium X plasma bolt infused with antimatter, dealing damage firstly through mass-to-energy conversion (target vaporization through matter-antimatter annihilation), then thereafter a combination of gamma radiation, charged particles, plasma energy, kinetic shock, and electromagnetic pulse effects. The gamma rays stemining from the matter-antimatter annihilation are the dominant product of the reaction, representing ~50% of the energy in the annihilation event's repercussive effects. This process unleashes lethal ionizing radiation that can penetrate armor and cause cellular damage, potentially leading to acute radiation sickness in surviving targets. The remaining energy is carried by high-speed charged particles (pions, muons, electrons) that behave like a hypervelocity particle beam. For plasma energy, ethaerium X gas is ionized into a magnetically confined plasma, which carries thermal and electromagnetic energy like a normal blaster bolt. When the bolt strikes, the plasma explosively expands, adding a concussive blast wave to the effects. Kinetic transfer comes from the annihilation event itself, which produces a violent recoil akin to a small explosion. This sudden energy release produces a hypersonic pressure wave. Even if the annihilation event, then the gamma rays, charged particles, and plasma energy fail to neutralize a given target, the concussive force can rupture organs or armor. Finally, EMP effects are derived from the gamma surge itself—high-energy photons ionize the air, creating a localized EMP that has the potential to disrupt electronics and fry droids. EMP effects also come from the magnetically contained plasma, which when released, generates an electromagnetic surge. Of particular significance, each bolt has an explosive effect upon connecting with a shield or solid object, including the blade of a lightsaber.

      • Considered to be the secondary energy module, this module manifests a hyper-ionized particle bolt that deal damage via a veritable hammer blow of concussive shock (kinetic energy) upon impact from explosion plasma expansion, the searing release of thermal energy as the superheated plasma particles destabilize matter to produce searing heat, and finally, ionization energy which can disrupt electronics and overload energy shields in the manner of an electromagnetic pulse. Of particular significance, each bolt has an explosive effect upon connecting with a shield or solid object, including the blade of a lightsaber.

STRENGTHS
  • Cross Map: The Gloomstriker is capable of engaging targets at incredible distances with match grade accuracy. When set on full power, the weapon only loses its accuracy past ~8.5 km.
  • Stealth: The Skuggalegt polymer coating makes the rifle extremely discreet, rendering it very difficult, if not impossible to pick up on sensors or scanners. The weapon also has a detachable silencer which makes it dead silent at the point of discharge. Finally, the ethaerium X gas mixture renders the bolt transparent and effectively invisible under normal conditions. In general, it is extremely difficult to pick out the shooter’s location by following the trajectory of the bolt.
  • Extreme Power: A weapon of extreme power, the Gloomstriker marries weaponized antimatter with particle beam blaster technology, producing a bolt that is orders of magnitude more powerful than a standard blaster bolt. In this, the weapon’s destructive potential is nothing short of catastrophic, capable of breaching personal grade beskar armor and up to 15cm of durasteel plating (or ~8 cm of beskar plating) through mass-to-energy conversion (matter-antimatter annihilation). Against flesh, this event can vaporize torsos or limbs. Even in the event that the bolt fails to penetrate or destroy armor, the kinetic force may be sufficient to break bones, rattle components, or knock man-sized targets down. Gamma radiation stemming from the annihilation event itself can also cause acute radiation sickness.
WEAKNESSES
  • Storm Surge: The Gloomstriker is susceptible to EMP and Ion-based assaults. If the HAPU is ion or EMP-shocked, the weapon will lose antimatter production until it is rebooted.
  • Mechanical Mutation: Like any piece of technology, the Gloomstriker is susceptible to mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. If left unprotected, a practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce an overload or some other failure which might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to purge, leaving the user vulnerable.
  • Breach: The installation of a HAPU into the Gloomstriker represents a point of failure and danger. A breach could see the reactor set off with potentially catastrophic consequences.
  • Unwieldy: The Gloomstriker has a large frame and rate of fire markedly lower than that of a standard blaster rifle, making it generally unwieldy and inconvenient to use in close-quarters.
DESCRIPTION
Considered to be as an exotic, experimental weapon, the Gloomstriker is an antimatter particle beam sniper rifle which marries conventional particle beam technology to weaponized antimatter. In this, the weapon represents an alternative to the more common disruptor, annihilating targets through mass-to-energy conversion rather than nonharmonic energy pulses.

Built from the frame of a “Precision-X” Marksman Rifle, the weapon has various modifications that facilitates its exotic energy composition. It notably weaponizes the HAPU reactor system, which injects positrons into the firing chamber to infuse the bolt with antimatter. However, its lethality comes not just from the annihilation event itself, but from the energy stemming from it. This includes gamma radiation (potential acute radiation sickness, cellular damage), charged particles, plasma energy (plasma jet scorching), kinetic shock (hypersonic pressure wave), and EMP effects.

However, while powerful, the Gloomstriker is not an outright tank killer. For larger targets, the weapon fares best against light vehicles and can cripple medium-armored vehicles with precise shots to exposed equipment (joint hydraulics, sensor arrays, exhaust ports, etc.) or weak points. However, against heavy-armored vehicles (tanks, heavy walkers, etc.), it is best used against tracks and viewports, requiring multiple shots on the same spot to breach heavy vehicle-grade armor.

The weapon was given to Sai’vhaela a few months after her induction into the Shikkari, which she then christened as the Gloomstriker. Very quickly, she learned the weapon inside and out, making a daily ritual of disassembling it while blindfolded for both maintenance and training. Sai’vhaela intends for the weapon to serve as an instrument through which the Sith’ari’s judgement is delivered and thus, treats the wea
pon as nigh-sacred.
