DESCRIPTION |
A spiritual successor of the Old Republic Inexpugnable-class and the first in a new line of warships focused on supporting the vast array of Hapan vessels that are being produced. The GADF Neutron is a Battlecruiser designed to focus its capabilities on serving in a dual role to support a larger formation of Capital Ships. Established as a Command Ship and equipped accordingly with an enhanced sensor suite, the GADF Neutron provides the means for a Flag Officer to easily command a larger number of vessels. Its secondary role is that of a Fleet Carrier and is accomplished due to its increased hangar capacity and capability to deploy up to three full fighter wings while still being capable of supporting additional fighter squadrons and support squadrons. Further supporting its role as a Fleet Carrier is the addition of a Control Tower located just above the main command bridge, which also functions as the primary flight control and coordination for all Starfighter and Support Craft squadrons deployed by the GADF Neutron. However, the location of this Control Tower means that it is much more likely to be damaged, which would hinder the vessel's ability to command or recover deployed craft. While the GADF Neutron falls under the Battlecruiser classification and carries an armament that reflects this overall classification, many of these weapons were installed to ensure that the primary ingress and egress from the hangar bays remained clear. This has resulted in its weapon systems being focused within the port and starboard firing arcs, with its heavier armaments, also focused in these areas. As the Capital Ship is also heavily inspired by Hapan designs, it shares a similar flaw seen in other vessels and warships with the same aesthetic, that is the location of its primary drive systems. The location of its Sublight Drive Systems and the minimal coverage of such means that they are easier to damage, which can result in the GADF Neutron being crippled. Additionally, the vessel's design being focused on an expansive hangar capacity, has resulted in a marked lack of speed and maneuverability, with the Capital Ship being well known for its slow sluggish movements requiring additional support when retreating from an engagement or being screened from fast-moving vessels. The GADF Neutron is set to deploy alongside other Hapan and Hapan-inspired Capital Ships as the two factions grow closer via their diplomatic alliance in the face of a greater threat due to a war that is looming on the horizon. The Capital Ship takes on the role and mantle of a Command Ship, its focus on ensuring that the fleets it will be nestled within are more than capable of executing the commands of a Flag Officer while also providing a vast array of Starfighter and Bomber squadrons. |
