"We're the rhydo, kid.

We're the fuel.

We're the thing that explodes when there's too much friction in the air."

DOMINIONS
1. Dominions and Populates will gain 2 hexes, instead of one, unless the target hex is in an Influence Cloud.
Please list both target hexes and link this announcement in your map update thread posts.

2. Dominions may target Hexes in bordering Influence Clouds. Major Capitals may not be targeted.
Please list the targeted Major Faction and this announcement in your map update thread posts.

Clarification: Dominions bordering Influence Clouds will only reward the one hex.
Clarification: Dominions still operate under Dominion rules. Invitation is required for other factions to join the thread.
Clarification: Dominions are only eligible for reward if a roleplay thread is conducted. e.g. Mandate effects that allow Dominions to be won in non-rp threading manner will not be permitted to win Border Hexes.
Clarification: Dominions of a border hex that are won by a Major Faction may be immediately re-targeted by the original Major Faction that owned it, even if the Map Update thread has not been applied to by a Major Faction Owner, or updated by an SWRP Staff Administrator. e.g. "Chaos".

INVASIONS
1. If starting or receiving an Invasion, the Major Faction cannot claim Dominions targeting hexes in other Major Faction's Influence Clouds in the Map Update Thread.

2. If a Major Faction in reception of an Invasion is "frozen" from being able to reclaim a Border Hex, it may declare another Invasion on that hex. This Invasion must be separate from the original Invasion.

Major Factions starting or receiving Invasions cannot claim Dominions targeting hexes in other faction's Influence Clouds in the Map Update Thread.

If a Dominion is to cause a Cloud Break in an Influence Cloud, the Cloud Break will be successful.

In the event a faction is midway through doing a Dominion to claim a hex in another faction's cloud and the second faction launches an invasion, does that invalidate the Dominion in effect or will it still go into effect before the Invasion Defense mechanic triggers?

The word "claim" is doing the most work here.

The finish line isn't finishing the dom, it's applying for it in the Map Update Thread. If a Major Faction under Invasion claims a Dominion, the Administrators will deny the claim.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the only thing I could still see is that this event might make it less attractive to launch invasions outside of this event. When I invade one faction now, I've got a week of sign-ups, 2 weeks of writing, and some time for the judgment call to maybe win up to three hexes. In that time, other factions can pluck away hexes with dominions that run much quicker than just a single invasion, have no chance at failure, and you can't reclaim the hexes or claim other border hexes.

Only if you're willing to do multiple invasions at once, you can try to fight it, but there's a reason we haven't seen that in years.

Maybe it's all intended, and that's fine. Just my two cents.

I am not trying to be rude in earnest, but I am going to be blunt-

I think if you are a overly large dominating presence on the map, like say an Empire, Republic, Alliance... with overextended borders and a large swath of hexes to defend, the weaknesses of being in that position are going to be compounded and the realism of defending them will be both immersive and painstaking.

Regardless if you're board game coded or immersive RP nation building coded, I think it all hits the same mark, which is the intended result.
