Private Fleeting Tournament Round One - Krayzen Dratos versus Des Harz

Opponents: Krayzen Dratos Krayzen Dratos Scourge Harz Scourge Harz
Fleet size: 8 kilometers
Map: here
Scenario: Running Battle
Scenario Description:
Both fleets have been fighting for some time now as they attempt to settle the claim to who will rule over the Corsin System. At long last, the battered ships bear down on each other for the final, decisive engagement. Although all ships have been damaged in past engagements, all ships on both sides are still capable of fighting to at least some degree.

OOC Note: The twist is that in this engagement, every single ship will start out as damaged in some way (either light, moderate, heavy). I have randomly assigned damages to the fleet lists provided to me by the participants. This is a non-canon thread and does not influence any other events in the Chaos universe/history.

Krayzen looked at the viewport as he analyzed his ships from his Argente-Class Assault Cruiser, while staring at the asteroid belt. For someone who lacked his experience, and was more suited to ground operations, he had been surprised he had been able to survive such a battle for so long. He could see no ports

Looking at his fleet, he saw that they were somewhat of a stalemate. He wished to change that. Calling all his major staff, he had their recommendations, and he smirked at one particular idea that had been suggested.

"Admiral. Order a scouting patrol to be sent to the ship's last reported nearby location. Order them to remain outside of their sensor range, and report to me their last revealed ship location. Also, have the starfighter pilots return from their rest, and prepare to be deployed." he stated.

For the amount of ships the enemy fleet had over his, he had to say he was holding together fairly well.

Now this was, of course, with some damage being taken. This battle had been taking ages now, and it was time to finish it with the Imperials victorious. Looking out at the viewport he noted the large asteroid field in front of them. No ship larger than Corvette-sized was making it through there. And from what the mid-battle scan had shown, the enemy had multiple small vessels.

A message was sent out to his two Tirailleur-Class Frigates.

"Frigates, you are commanded to fire upon the largest asteroids located in that field. Our scans show that Corvette-sized vessels are able to make it through there, and we are to not let that happen. I want no ship to come through that field. After that you are to await further command."

Waiting for a few seconds he received a confirmation message back. Unfortunately with the damages taken to these two Frigates, the weapons took longer than usual to fire up. But once they did though, the large blast fired out towards the field.

He needed this to work if he were to conduct the next part of his plan.

"Give me the status on the enemy."

"No reported movement. They are reportedly staying where they are."

"Excellent. Let us begin then. Give me the status on the hyperdrives."

"They are reporting 100% functionality sir."

"Initiate a micro jump." he stated.

Communicating the order throughout the encrypted subnetwork of his fleet, the Anzat saw as the stars went away. Soon, as a microjump completed, Krayzen's fleet had been elevated toward a higher plane than the astroid fleet. From the last scouting report, he suspected that Scourge Harz Scourge Harz 's fleet would be underneath him.

"Divert all power to the shields and turrets Have the interdictor activate it's gravity wells, and open fire. Deploy a starfighter screen." he stated.

"Also, order the tractor beams to grab some of those asdroids.

In unison, the gravitational pull from the tractor beams grabbed the asteroids. When the asteroids reached the Anzat's fleets, they would fire it directly toward Des' fleet, particular toward a damaged Valiant-Class Star Destroyers. Meanwhile, his fleet spread out their fire evenly, engaging the noted Admiral's fleet.

Summary of Post

  • Microjump directly above the asteroid fleed.
  • Divert power to shields and weapons
  • Tractor beam pulls the asteroids, and fires them toward your Valiant Class Star Destroyers
  • Interdictor field active
  • Starfighter screen deployed.
  • Fired weapons and all that jazz.

The first part of his plan was a success. Small pieces of asteroids now floated around where larger ones once were. With the small rocks creating even more of a flight problem, he hoped this would throw off the enemy's fleet. But instead of taking the enemy by suprise, they actually used it to their advantage. Suddenly the opposing fleet appeared directly above him.

"Sir! The enemy fleet has microjumped above our position. Our scanners show no ship was affected by the asteroids."

Blast! That was his shot. It looks like the asteroids could no longer be of use to him. Now it was time to settle this the old-fashioned way. Before his next command could be given, the warning alarms started to whine throughout the command deck.

"Someone tell what is going on, now!"

"The enemy fleet has used their tractor beams to pick up chunks of the asteroids. With their current trajectory, they will strike our Valiant-Classes and possibly this ship."

He knew that his fleet was in trouble. Something had to be done, and fast.

"Signal a command to those four destroyers. They are to release all of their starfighters. Once that is done they are to clear out of the path as soon as possible, and let the starfighters take out the falling asteroids."

With some acknowledging nods from the crew the command was sent out. Looking out of the viewport, he could see the asteroids begin their slow decent towards the destroyers. Their current ship had already moved out of the danger zone, so there was no chance an asteroid could hit him. TIEs flew out of the bottom of the destroyers like hornets from their nest. Once enough of them were out, they began firing on the asteroids.

But it wouldn't be enough. Though many of the falling asteroids were taken out, a few of them slipped past the starfighters. One larger chunk fell directly onto a destroyer's command deck, letting off a fiery explosion. The ship's systems shut down, taking it out from further combat. Another destroyer took multiple hits from small chunks of rock, and it looked as if it was around 1/2 of the way operational.

"Sir! We have lost a Valiant-class destroyer, and another took heavy damage."

"Do you take me as some sort of blind man? Of course we lost a destroyer! Our starfighters failed at their task. They better other fail this next one."

Turning towards one of the crewman, he gave out his next command.

"I want all of the starfighters from the Valaint-classes to deploy. They are to engage the enemy's flak corvettes, who appear to have taken significant damage from our first attacks. While they do this, two Caçadore-classes are to follow them, taking out any of the fleeing flaks. They may have ,ow firepower, but our scans show they have incredibly strong defense. Eliminate them."

Looking back out the viewport, he watched the starfighters scream towards the flak corvettes. In tow were the two Caçadore-classes. With the right move, he could possibly send in one of the Valiant-classes to assist, but for now they stayed put. No need for more unnecessary loses.

Cheers could be heard as the Dark Knight clenched his fist, a visual representation of the brief moment of happiness he experienced before returning to his nonchalant state. For Krayzen, it allowed for a brief increase in morale, as well as the fact that he continued to increase in his belief he, and his admirals could win this fight. But there was still much to do, and he was facing an experienced, intelligent, well-drilled opponent. As 200 years of living had taugh thim, he had to be move quickly, and seize the opportunity that presented itself.

"Sir, the enemy has deployed starfighters."

"Have them be intercepted the fighters. Have the heavily damaged ships, including our corvette move deeper into our fleet's formation. The overlapping fire provided by the various ships should provide an additional defensive bonus to our damaged fleet."

As he did this, he saw that some of the Admiral's starfighters went passed his starfighter screen. Cursing himself, he saw some of his corvettes begin to explode, the Anzat closing his eyes as he felt hundreds of lives being lost via the force.

"What about the other ships?"

"Maintain the same offensive strategy. Do the same thing we did on the asteroids, and target the other Valiant Class Star Destroyers. Order our fleet to also descend down toward their position. Additionally, order our Star Destroyer, and the Argente Class Cruisers to focus fire on the Tirailleur-Class Frigate. Also, order the lightly damged Sovereign cruiser and the Barbazu frigates to attack the corvettes coming up. Let us rain fire on them"

"Yes sir."

  • Starfighter screen intercepts your fighters.
  • Moved heavily damaged corvettes closer toward my other ships so the other ships can help deal with any starfighters that came to range when some of your fighters get passed my starfighter screen
  • Rinse and repeat with the asteroids. They continue targeting your Valiant Class Star Destroyers
  • My Star Destroyers and my cruisers target focus fire on your frigates
  • Descended a bit lower, but still above you.
  • Lost two of my Terruk-Class corvettes(assuming you targeted this ones cause they are the heavily damaged ones)
  • Sovereign Cruiser and Barbazu frigates attempt to take out your corvette coming up.
