Based upon the blueprints of the archaic Bothan Assault Cruiser, the Sovereign-Class Heavy Cruiser currently makes up the mainstay of the Confederacy of Independent System's fleet; as they do not yet have the means to produce larger vessels. As the mainstay vessel of the Confederacy, it fills the role of Ship of the Line through the utilization of an exceptional amount of firepower. Through this, the Sovereign-class can contend with the numerous vessels of other galactic factions with minimal difficulty, as its diverse sum of weapons allow it to heavily assault the aforementioned ships with heavy ordnance from a variety of ranges. As such, the Sovereign-class grants the Confederacy a fighting chance against the other, larger vessels in the galaxy.
