The job wasn’t the normal hunt or clean up work Okuma was used to. It offered many unique challenges that intrigued the Kage mercenary. His clients now we're Hapen pirates, in hiding along the frontiers of their remote cluster. Made up of vengeful outcasts of the regal society. They wanted Okuma to steal an object of extreme value and cultural significance kept within the capital. His payment was to be a single, Rainbow Gem. Probably one of the most valuable things in the galaxy relative to their size.

The hardest part of this heist would be simply getting into position and leaving. But Okuma had a plan for that. Doing a bit of research to see what sort of imports commonly made their way into Hapes. Eventually deciding on smuggling himself in a haul ship filled with foodstuff. Boarding the ship mid transit while docked at a station and stuffing himself in a large container of grain. Okuma concluded that a mere food delivery truck, even if destined for the capital city, wouldn't be looked over with the same critical eye as other more valuable shipments.

. . .

Once he was planet side Okuma remained incognito. Thinking that the best way to make his way through the Hapen capital was under the guise of a foreign diplomat and visitor to the regal Hapen homeworld.. There wasn’t any other way for him as a strange alien man to get around as easily given the tools he had access to. To sell his image of importance he stole some luxury clothing. Silky robes to drape over his body and make himself seem more unassuming.

Soon enough Okuma made his way into Lorell Hall where he could find the object he was after. The building was dwarfed by the extravagance of Her Majesty’s estate which it was constructed next to. Gracefully walking along the corridors of Lorell Hall, Okuma would find the object he was hired to steal from here. Hung up on the wall flanked with two guards, and likely a number of other hidden security features. A painting that was subject to its fair share of controversy and conspiracies, The Mono Leo.

Seeing it now with his own eyes Okuma thought that all the hype was pretty overrated. Although the Kage mercenary didn’t want to. Part of the job he was hired to do was to steal the painting in broad daylight. To put on some brazen show of resistance on behalf of the pirates that hired him. If they wanted to do that wouldn’t it hit home more if one of them did the heist? Probably. But they likely didn’t want to risk their own necks to do so which is why they outsourced it to a mercenary like himself. Okuma would continue scoping out the building more. Trying to familiarize as much of it as he could to aid in an exit strategy…

OOC: Some character suggestions for this thread could be rival criminals seeking the Mono Leo for themselves or other clients. Possibly investigators having caught wind of the heist, or even just a local Hapen who just happens to be at the right place at the wrong time. Of course these suggestions are not exclusive to join the thread, I just felt like throwing some out to give some possible ideas.

Standing around, bored out of his mind, the ever-dutiful Trayze Tesar stood at ease. Burgundy eyes surveyed the Lorena Hall, while dignitaries of the Sith-Imperial Banking Clan make their clandestine petitions to the Consortium and the various powers that be within the very borders of the Galactic Alliance.

Piracy and rebellion, the thorns in the sides of leaders since time immemorial, and Her Majesty was hoping for a more clandestine and tactful approach to remove this undesirable situation. Realpolitik aside, the Kiffar exhaled as he enjoyed crowd-watching the scenery, though something in the back of his mind told him that... despite the broad daylight and the crowds within the Hall, that something was going to happen. Whether it was Trayze's mind desperately wanting something to break up the monotony of procedures and the tension of arriving incognito, or the disdain for Kainate conniving, he knew better than to ignore the tingling he got.

Once more the Lieutenant Inspector moonlighting as a Sith Acolyte idly wandered the Hall, circuiting through the crowd, and reaching out with the Force to idly linger around the each passerby before approaching the famed Mono Leo.

While here Okuma learned of the local’s favored weapon as well. A vile tool of domination that interested him greatly. The mercenary would absolutely love to get his hands on one of them. If he completed this mission he could probably spend his earnings on acquiring a Hapen Gun of Command.

However, it also made him much more wary of getting into any sort of prolonged conflict here. This had to be a smash. After casing the building some more and getting a better feel for possible exit strategies Okuma made his way back to the Mono Leo. Standing there next to another individual. Holding his hands up there were concealed in the large sleeves of the silky robe he was wearing. He narrowed his eyes some before speaking softly. “You must be a fellow visitor to this esteemed planet.”

Okuma could tell they weren’t Hapen, they lacked the softer features many of the men here had. He also wouldn’t expect anyone here to get a face tattoo. Even many of the pirate runaways he’d encounter still maintained their appearances. Old habits die hard it seems. The kage mercenary looked back to the painting. “To this day people still debate over whether or not the Mono Leo is a portrait of a real person or not. I think the mysteries surrounding this painting is where all the fun comes from if I’m being honest. Otherwise it might not be held in such high regard.” Okuma said with a contemplative tone. Still unsure of how to best fit the role of a foreign dignitary. Even when he was a Jedi, this sort of stuff never was a strength of his.

Gently the Kage held up one of his hands to his face. Sliding one of his fingers under his eyepatch. Discreetly turning off the cybernetic replacement it concealed. He wouldn’t want it to get damaged over what might happen next as his yellow eye looked between the two guards that stayed close to the famous painting.

Like a striking slime-amoeba's mucousy touch barely entrapping its quarry, so too did the Detective's unseen feelers make purchase and find someone of similar powers. Force-Sensitivity wasn't uncommon amidst the aristocracy afield, power called to power after all, but there was a distinct difference between latent talent and discipline, and the mysterious Kage fell firmly in the latter. Oh sure, the Kiffar could smell some laxity that came with an absence of rote routine, but overall this man was far more skilled than he left on.

"May you live in interesting times" was a passive-aggressive condemnation for a reason, and Trayze was going to realize why.

He gave a side-eyed smirk at the foppish figure, his presence a crude anomaly among the refined Hapan, and as such, another tool in Trayze's toolbelt. A quick look up and down disguised his notation of a cybernetic eye behind an eyepatch and perhaps other noteworthy tools and gadgets hidden beneath the poofy garb beneath a disdain that commoners often reserved for their betters.

"Half th' fun in art is in' th' observation of it." the Kiffar conceded, turning to face and lackadaisically lean as much as he could near the painting without breaching security. "You some kinda critic, or perhaps a painter yerself?" The Kage had the Kiffar's full attention, and unseen beneath the masses of meanderers, the Force ebbed and flowed around the two. For the most part, Trayze did not press nor pry, content to linger like an inky spattering on a portrait that one couldn't tell was mistake or design - such a move would reveal itself if, or rather, when the newcomer would attempt to recieve or send a signal. While Trayze enjoyed, prose or poetry or painting, the performing arts captured his attention the most - and the invisible slow waltz of observation and counter-observation served as a means of breaking up the tedium of his "day job".

The sense of power was not a mutual experience for Okuma. He had that and many other attributes within him severed. Ever since his days as an accomplished padawan he had been fighting an uphill battle to feel as capable as he did before. He wasn’t sure if he ever would, or be satisfied. Perhaps he’ll be forever chasing the dragon that was the power he formerly held within him.

“Observation huh? Yeah you’re probably right.” Okuma replied to the comment. “Nah I was never really good with arts and crafts. Self expression was never really a strong suit of mine.” Even back when he made his own lightsaber, often a unique reflection of those who made it, his was crude, functional and lacking any design features.

Okuma’s signalar eye narrowed some towards the man he was speaking to. Unsure if they would be an obstacle or not. He wasn’t in the mood to be making unlikely allies either. Still though, he didn’t want to spend all day looking over a painting he didn’t personally care much for. He then shifted his gaze back towards the two male security guards that flanked the prized painting. His lips curled some into an asymmetrical smirk. “I suppose today you could consider me more of a collector…”

Without any hesitation Okuma pulled from the large flowing sleeve some sort of a small device. A simple EMP grenade. Making sure it was in full view of the guards. To grab their attention. The one that first reached for their weapon suddenly had a fist striking them in the chest. Knocking the security guard back and slamming him into the wall next to the painting. His Kage reflexes were on full display as he brought his attention over to the second guard. Swiftly chopping their neck and stunning the Hapan man. Causing them to drop. It was time to go time now.

Looking back at the Kiffar, Okuma spoke. “Might wanna close your eyes and cover your ears.” He said before activating the EMP grenade and casually dropping it in front of the painting before stepping back. Letting the device go off and fry the electronic security measures to protect the painting. Which was why he turned off his own hidden cybernetic. Not wanting it to get damaged and possibly harm sensitive parts of his own body.

It was times like these that Trayze was grateful he kept a slugthrower pistol on his person. Under pressure, it was easier to switch to one's sidearm than to pull out a lightsaber and cause a panic - though the former point was moot due to his lightsaber exploding due to his battle with Valery Noble. Three microseconds was all it took from the foppish Kage, now revealed to be a brazen thief, to go from flourishing the small spherical device to dropping two security guards unconscious. By then it was too late, for when the Kiffar turned his KIIR-24 on the Kage, the EMP dropped.

It was times like these Trayze hated the fact that electromagnets were also vulnerable to, well, EMPs - rendering a potentially swift end to the fight a distant possibility. With the flash, Trazye slammed his eyelids shut, and bit through the buzzing noise to reach out with the Force to where the Kage had scarpered off to.

To the untrained eye, the Force was an all powerful and unstoppable, well, Force - but in practice it was simply the integration and implementation of energy into oneself, and as the Kage made his escape with the Mono Lono, Trayze willed his aura to form two impossibly long tendrils with wampa-like claws at the end. One would bungee-cord him towards the position of the Kage, and the other would attempt to swipe at him, hopefully knocking him off his feet.

Okuma acted quickly, trying to remove the famed painting from it’s frame. Trying to push through the discombobulation his own little electromagnetic grenade made. Despite removing the immediate safeguards protecting the Mono Leo . Still however, the automated alarms began to blair out loudly. Alerting all within the facility to something occurring.

The Kage mercenary only got a glimpse of the firearm as it got pointed towards him. Did the kiffar hope to catch him? Maybe there was more to the man than he originally saw. Getting his hands on the painting, Okuma remembered that he was to treat the artwork with the utmost respect and care. But also to use it’s value to his advantage, possibly by using the painting like a hostage. He might need to threaten to damage it if he found himself in a sticky situation.

As the kage began to dash away from the crime scene, he felt something trip him up. Swiping at him. Causing him to almost fall ontop of the painting he was holding until he quickly held his arms out with it to avoid accidentally crushing it. Meaning his body had to take a fair bit of impact from it. Okuma grunted loudly as he tried to understand what just happened. An invisible Force tripping him up? Now the Kage began to suspect that the kiffar was a Force Adept of some kind. A two faced jedi perhaps? Or a loathsome Sith?

Regardless, with the painting in hand he quickly got back up onto his feet rather acrobatically and looked back to the kiffar, narrowing his singular eye at them. “You plan to apprehend me?” Okuma had places to be and would rather not be stuck dealing with the Hapen justice system for art theft.
