Fiery Pit of Hell (@Lady Kay) pm for invite

The effects of the amulet lessen as Kay dragged him. Soon, he was able to help her a little. His headache faded away. The whisper grew faint. "We can stop. It better. It's not destroyed." This bothered him deeply. There was no way. He was going back to retrieve it. "FRAK! That thing should be metal piece of goo."

Kay grabbed his arm, "Hawk let's just go. You said it yourself that you feel better. So let's just go back and leave." Of course it was probably better to destroy it, but who knows if that could even happen?

"All right. Let's go." He says slowly moving under his own steam. It didn't feel right leaving it there. It felt like a mistake. A huge one. He was too tired to go back and finish it. Beside no one knew where it was hidden. Maybe it would be safe here in the lava.

Now to begin the long walk back to the ship. With each step the whispers lessen until Hawk was able to ignore them again. They had been within every since he had his first vision of the amulet. They would stay with him and anyone who had used the amulet until they died. That was something that Hawk hadn't learned yet.

She followed him until they had come to the point where they needed to get back across the lava. Kay stood there. "Are you going to be okay enough to help me to cross again?" The sooner that they could get back to the ship, the better. They didn't need to stay. Hawk didn't need to stay.

"I think so," he says sounding not as confident as he usually. He was distracted by what had happened. He had so many questions. Why didn't amulet kill him? It could have easily. Was he making a bigger mistake leaving behind?

He looked around for large size rocks. This side didn't have what he wanted. "Kay, you might have to try to force leap over. There isn't any rocks that would work. I could levitate you across the lava."

"You're going to give me a Force lesson now?" She wasn't sure if he was okay enough, or if she was ready enough. Was it okay to be doubtful, or did she have to be fully confident. What if she fell? It was far different to make a mistake here than to do so over water, which was the preferable option. But if they had no other option, then she would just have to do as he said....

"No time like the present. Just take a deep breath..find center. Trust in the force and me. I won't let you fall. I promise. We will practice a couple of times before you attempt the big leap."

She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Okay that didn't work. Kay closed her eyes and then breathed deeply until she was at a nearly comfortable state. Trust in the Force and him? That was the easy part. It was the trust in herself that was lacking. But setting that aside she just kept her eyes closed and controlled her breathing until his next instruction.

He could sense Kay doubt in herself. This was something that she was going to have to work on. Now wasn't the time. "Gather the force in your legs than just leap. Just to have to believe that you can do it. Remember the what Master Yoda said Do or do not..there is no try."

So many others could do it simply enough. Kay was just having a hard time wrapping her mind around it. Maybe that was the reason that most were trained at an early age. She kept her eyes closed and focused the Force into her leg muscles. Then she jumped straight up, keeping her eyes closed so that she couldn't see how high she would get. Yet she kept herself ready for the landing.

"Good job." He says when Kay force leaps 4ft. "Not bad for a first try. Let's do it one more time before you leap over the lava." He estimated the distance to be about 10 to 15 ft across. "Let try for more distance this time."

The landing came a bit softer than she thought. Hawk's praise certainly helped to boost her confidence a little, but there was still a hint of doubt. She just needed to push harder, she supposed.

Kay kept her eyes closed and focused again, putting the energy of the Force into her leg muscles. She needed to do this, both of them needed her to do this. Otherwise Hawk would have to go to his ship alone and then come back to fetch her. Using that to fuel her, she crouched down and then jumped straight up again.

He was impressed by Kay skill. Her next force leap was much better. "Much better. Now let's do it for real." He readies himself to assist her with the force if needed. He didn't think she would need the help.

Kay smiled a little as she landed. But she didn't want to get cocky or over confident because then she might not do well enough.

Now it was the big one. She had to manipulate her muscles in a slightly different way. She stepped closer to the lava flow, giving herself less distance to leap. Then once again Kay shut her eyes, before focusing on the Force to where she needed it the most, until she felt that she was connected enough to take that leap of faith over the lava flow...

He felt a little nervous for Kay. He knew that she could do it. She just needed to believe in herself. He watches Kay sail over the lava flow and land safety on the other side. He didn't have to help her one bit. "Great job." He calls to her.

Kay breathed a sigh of relief after she had landed and wasn't having a lava bath. She opened her eyes as she stood up straight. "Thanks! Now it's your turn!" she called back.

Hawk moved closer to the lava flow than leaps across to Kay. He lands a little unsteady. He was still weak from dealing with the cursed amulet, He hoped that Kay didn't noticed. He wanted to get to ship and off this planet before they ran into any Sith. They had been lucky so far.

She did notice, but she didn't say anything. Kay didn't want to burst his ego. But there could be many reasons for it and one of them was the heat. It was too hot on this world. She took his arm and helped him along. "Come on! The quicker we go, the quicker we can cool off." She smiled and hoped that she could help boost his energy. They were of course, more than halfway finished through their quest. As far as she could tell, anyways.

So much for Kay not noticing. He allowed her to help him along. They were making good time back to the ship. It was getting easier to move along now that he wasn't being weight down by the amulet. it would have felt freeing if it wasn't for feeling like a failure. He had failed to destroy the amulet. Yes, it was in a hard to get place. Buried underneath the lave flow.

She felt his resistance easing up. Good. Kay caught Hawk's ship far off in the distance, a bright spot that differed in colour from the rest of the area. She slowed down and then stopped, getting out her food and water rations. "We should take a break. In about four hours we'll be heading for your home." She handed him his portions and started on her own.
