- Accessibility: Facility 5 is a private access medical research facility based in the mountains of Chroma Zed. It is difficult to reach on foot, so arrival and departure of resources and personnel is generally done by air or spacecraft. Facility 5 is guarded by an elite team of Obsidian Star security contractors.
- Description: Facility 5 is a medical research facility that has been built into the side of a mountain on the world of Chroma Zed. It is a remote facility that is extremely difficult to access on foot. It is home to approximately five-hundred scientific and logistical support personnel. Arrival and departures are typically heavily policed and done by aircraft of spacecraft. This facility is dedicated to the creation of Bio-Medical products such as organic-synthetic blood substitutes and organs, as well as increasing the potency of Bacta, or creating a rival derivative.
Section A: Topside
- Landing pads - Are located at the top of the facility and provide space for up to five standard light freighter sized ships to land or take off.
Section A: Internal
- Storage - Located just under the landing pads, there are several large storage areas which include climate controlled sections for the maintenance of specimens, cultures and other temperature sensitive items.
Section B: Administration
- Administration - On this level, the administrator's office can be found and the offices for the various department heads, as well as several professional conference rooms
- Operations (Restricted Access) - A small operations section that houses an air/flight traffic relay and subspace com's relay.
- Living Quarters: Administration - Housed on this level are the living quarters for the various department heads
- Security (Restricted Access): The main security office and barracks
- Infirmary: A small infirmary capable of providing medical support and emergency intervention for up to ten beings at a time.
Section C: Living Quarters and Mess
- Living Quarters - Located on the same level as Storage are the living quarters. Divided into blocs, these quarters range from single rooms to family sized suites. There is a small daycare and school run by droids on this level for the offspring of long-term workers such as scientists.
- Mess Hall - A large cafeteria style mess hall that also serves as a meeting area for groups larger than can be held comfortably in the meeting rooms on the administration level
Section D: Research Labs and Manufacturing
- Research Labs (Restricted Access): Here there are several state-of-the-art biological research labs filled with the latest equipment. There are a total of six labs in this facility, all dedicated to working on a different project.
- Small Scale Manufacturing (Restricted Access): Here there is a small auto-mated droid manufacturing section designed for limited runs and prototypes of various types of Bio-Medical manufacturing.
SECURITY- HIGH - While the existence of Facility 5 isn't exactly a secret, all attempts have been made to make the Facility difficult to find and even more difficult to infiltrate. The facility has been built into the side of a mountain, making it nearly impossible to reach by foot or ground-based vehicle. It boasts a powerful shield generator and a pair of anti-aircraft guns. Restricted areas are protected by biometric locks, utilizing fingerprint, retinal and voice-match authenticators as well as password encoded consoles and workstations. Surveillance cameras have been placed at strategic locations to allow security to monitor all areas of the facility remotely. In addition, a security force of two dozen highly trained contractors maintain a presence within the facility at all times.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
As time went on, what began as the fledgling Obsidian Star Technologies company based on Denon, thrived and grew into a major weapons provider for the Silver Jedi Concord. It eventually added new facilities as the company created subsidiaries dedicated to Aerospace and Bio-Medical research and production. Facility 5 was built to research new and exciting Bio-Medical products for the Obsidian Star BioMed division of the Obsidian Star Technologies corporation. This facility works primarily on bio-medical research with a heavy emphasis on creating new synthetic-blood products, artificially grown replacement organs, bacta substitutes and other medical research. The facility boasts a small manufacturing section that allows for some of these new products to be rushed into production immediately after development.
