Faction Evening on Veradune | United Protectorate of Sovereign Systems

Gathering on Veradune:
Open to all members of the U.P.S.S.

(CONTEXT):

With the hand gathered and reformed, it was clear: the time for action was soon to come. The resurgence of the Sith was no small issue, especially with recent events. However, there too was a time for rest. New blood had entered the ranks of the alliance, and in order for these additions to properly work in sync with their new comrades, it was best that introductions were made.

Veradune had served the Protectorate well, and would do so once more. It was nothing formal, there was no ‘grand ceremony’, only an optional event: A celebration, set in the grasslands near the Grand Conclave, outside a small, humble village.
It was away from prying eyes, both as a ‘security measure’, but also to allow for something more… welcoming to new arrivals.

It served as both a pleasant atmosphere, and a reminder of their cause. Being near the people they vowed to protect allowed them to appreciate the simpler things in life.
The actual preparations for the celebration were relatively miniscule. There was to be a small fire, and the rest was left up to interpretation, centered around the general goal of familiarizing yourself with those you’d be working with and fighting alongside.

The quiet event was to last until sunrise, or at least until everyone fell asleep.

(BRING YOUR OWN OBJECTIVE):

For once, there is no mission. You’re free to contribute via any means you see fit. Whether that be stoking the fire, making pleasant conversation, or bringing a bit of musical talent to the occasion, all contributions are welcome. Tonight is about meeting new faces and getting to know each other better. Seize the chance to showcase what makes you stand out from the rest, and make an effort to make new friends or have a pleasant time with folks you already care about.

Had any close experiences with other members lately? Now’s the time to make them count. Have any ideas? propose them. Again, all contributions are welcome

This event remains alive as long as the fire keeps burning. When it dies, time for sunrise.

Enjoy your time, and take things easy - let’s make this a story we can look back on fondly.
But, if you must have something to do, here’s your ‘mission’. Do at least one of the following:

  • Greet one new member
  • Make a new friend
  • Ask someone about their past
  • Do a performance of some kind
  • Help out with the setup (collecting burn material, etc.)
  • Have a serious heart-to-heart with the group / someone special

Garrion had been among the new arrivals. He'd received his invitation directly from Ra'a'mah Ra'a'mah after a long sit down in which he'd been informed of the current state of the galaxy, and given a chance to be part of something new, something that could help keep him going despite having nothing.
She was also the person responsible for thawing him out of his carbonite prison, the one who just so happened to be in charge of this merry band. He was told this'd be a good means of putting faces to names, and an opportunity to socialize for the first time in over a decamillennium.

He'd invited a newfound accomplice to join him, in the form of a tech-savvy Jawa by the name of Kalit D'wari Kalit D'wari . The old general may as well have stuck out like a wampa on Kashyyyk, feeling he'd presumably be just as out of place as his new friend. Socializing was a... new concept for a man such as himself. The closest he'd ever gotten to it long ago was that of in the heat of battle, in the trenches alongside his men. He'd never been one to attend 'events', even if from time to time he'd allow the occasional Life Day celebration, though he usually kept his distance.

For Garrion, time was best spent planning. Even now, he couldn't take his mind off of it... everything he'd learned so shortly ago. His hands were fidgeting slightly as he dwelt on the thought. Was this what it felt like to be socially awkward?

Exiting the vessel provided to him by his new contact, he walked past the small village, and over to the small patch of tall grass that'd been cleared for tonight.

The sun began to dip over the horizon, the time to start had almost arrived.
He hadn't yet realized he was the first to arrive. Had he been too early? Was anyone else coming?

Those were thoughts for later. Scanning the area, he realized the flatland had little to offer in terms of fuel.

Making his way into the village, he negotiated the purchase of some wood, overcompensating the man and his family with thousands-year old pocket change well worth whatever price asked for.
When the farmer hesitated, Garrion insisted.
"Your family can make good use of it." Was his simple reasoning, before taking off with the small handful of firewood.

Placing the wood in a neat pile, he gathered some stones to make a small 'firepit'.
From his pocket he retrieved his old military grade flint and steel, a tool he'd had to use on the odd occasion of being stranded.

With a few strikes, the fire came to life. It'd burn for a while, but he couldn't keep it going alone. So, he waited, hopeful he wasn't the only one who'd decided to show up.

Kalit D'wari was taking a hyperspace flight to Veradune, having his R2 Astromech ensure a safe hyperlane towards the planet kalit has never yet heard of. He eventually arrived, wandering it for hours, accompanied by the droid. Eventually, he found the settlement, opening the door hesitantly and entering inside, being rather confident this is where he was led to be.

He placed his utilities backpack down and sat, awaiting someone to introduce him to the entire place. The R2 remained nearby chirping in droid binary, keeping a conversation with kalit as the time passes on.

Tricia Kalamack

Sleeps all day.... yawns all night
The noise was the first thing that made her stir, there were more people in the world then normal and she could feel them all. Her eyes opening when she looked at the floor and stretched out along the ceiling. Allowing herself a moment before she was floating down and around. "Hmmm." Her voice came out more bored as she was floating around the palace. The few guards that she had to watch and make sure she didn't sneeze or throw one of Vulps ships around were looking at her as one was trying to alert the others but she moved seeing where the other people were.
