SPECIAL FEATURES

: Multiple Fire Modes:
Automatic - Self-explanatory, the slug rifle fires shots in rapid succession. Highly effective against many or larger combatants. This is the most commonly used fire mode.
Single-Shot - Again, self-explanatory, the slug rifle fires a single shot. Has moderately higher accuracy than the first mode. Good for unarmored combatants, or KOR-3s modified for stealth.
: Modability:
The KOR-3 is compatible with most modifications. It isn't too uncommon to see one with an extended magazine or thermal scope. Barrel attachments can also be added, for certain effects. Internal work can also be done, to help with recoil and the like.
: Ammo Types:
Being a slugthrower, the KOR-3 has access to many different ammo types. Commons ones seen used in conjunction with the rifle are hollowpoints and armor-piercing rounds. Some daring individuals even use explosive ones. It should be noted that there are a few ammo types that should only be used in the single-shot fire mode, for safety.

STRENGTHS
  • Fire Rate - Has an incredibly high rate of fire, making it excellent for crowd control as well as high-octane combat situations.
  • Ammo Capacity - Working alongside the fire rate, the rifle sports a larger magazine than typically seen in slug weapons(70 slugs).
  • Mag Ejection - When the KOR-3 runs dry of ammo, the magazine it carries will automatically be ejected, allowing for much quicker reloading. Recommended for long combat.
  • Hair Trigger - Like the VIA-1 before it, the KOR-3 employs a hair trigger system that allows for quick, spontaneous shots. Works well with both firing modes.
WEAKNESSES
  • Recoil - A product of the weapon's design and fire rate, the KOR-3 has a noticeable high recoil. While tougher, stronger users of the rifle could keep it in check, average users could not. Internal modification can be done to improve recoil, although it is risky.
  • Projectile Size - The KOR-3 uses a relatively small caliber of slug, leaving its damage lackluster and making single shots ineffective against armored foes without the use of armor-piercing rounds.
  • Mag Failure - A downside to the auto-eject feature is mag failure. The magazine can become stuck and require a considerable amount of time or force to get it out.

DESCRIPTION
Automatic weapons were never the focus point of Ephraim Labors, the KOR-3 is their venture into such weapons. They'd made rapid-fire blaster pistols before, Such as the VIA-1, but never something to this scale. Funnily enough, the rifle owes some of its internal design to that blaster pistol, such as the hair-trigger system. Although, the one utilized by the rifle is much more practical, having the function to switch it off if it doesn't suit the user. Even further, another impressive system it possesses is the auto-ejection of empty magazines, which can also be switched off. There are certain downsides to this, such as 'mag failure', which can be quite fatal in the wrong situation. Ephraim Labors advises using this system around fellow allies so as to not live oneself completely exposed. While many combat-focused users like and enjoy the features of the weapon, many others view it as being far too 'militaristic' for all customers. These views mainly came about with the company's choice to market to the wider populace.

Another interesting internal component of the KOR-3 is its Magnetic Pulse Accelerator, borrowing from the design of another EL-model weapon. To be more exact, it uses a modified version of the pulse accelerator, dubbed the rapid pulser. As the name implies, it allows the slugthrower to release multiple shots in very quick succession. The pulser does release a lot of recoil, making it harder for most to use. Originally, the designers planned on having the rifle use much higher caliber slugs, but the pulser didn't have enough power to accommodate the size. This made shots much more ineffective, and almost virtually useless. That said, they opted for a smaller round that would allow for comparably decent damage output. The stopping power it had did suffer though, with the projectiles being less damaging than the originally intended round.

An interesting note about the KOR-3 is that it was originally intended to be a long-range weapon. Even further so, it served as the original design of the JOV-2 Slug Rifle. Even more so, the propulsion system was originally meant to be gas-based, like many slug weapons. It wasn't until the magnetic system the JOV-2 utilizes was implemented that the design was changed. The KOR-3 schematic was put away and a new design was sketched up. With new tests using the pulse accelerator, the old design was brought back up and repurposed. Something that stuck from its old function is its scope, however, it's not meant for long ranges and is much better suited for close-quarters combat.
