SPECIAL FEATURES

: Scope And Barrel Attachments:

The JOV-2 is compatible with a long list of common scopes and barrel modifications.

: Kick Stand:
Unmodified JOV-2s include a kickstand on the lower section, for improved accuracy and stability.

STRENGTHS

  • Ammo Variety - Like most slugthrowers, the JOV-2 has access to a wide variety of ammo types, including incendiary, explosive, tracer, ETC. Along with that, it's capable of cambering self-made rounds, if said rounds fit the internal magazine.
  • Lightweight - Despite its size, it is relatively lightweight, easier to handle on long operations, and less endurance heavy than most rifles. This does have an effect on recoil, making it 'kick' a bit more than most.
  • Incredibly Accurate - Has an incredible range, being able to shoot easily up to 1200 meters, and being able to hit that area with quite a bit of destructive force.
WEAKNESSES
  • Recoil - A drawback to the weight and firing system of the slugthrower is its recoil, kicking back like a bantha. If you don't have sturdy arms or rifle experience, you're liable to have a shoulder dislocated.
  • Fire Rate - As to be expected, the JOV-2 is unable to fire rapidly, partially due to recoil. While the cambering system is automatic, it takes up to 10 seconds to complete after an initial shot.

DESCRIPTION
A lot of things go into designing a slugthrower, and many are based on or reworks of ones that came before. The JOV-2 is really no different and owns its existence to many, much older, slug rifles. One inspiration that stands out, prominently, is a Tusken Cycler. While not entirely based on the weapon, it does owe a few design choices to it. Primarily, its use of a Magnetic Pulse Accelerator. Much stronger, of course, allowing for deadlier, much more accurate shots to be taken.

The mechanics of the slug rifle are also quite interesting. It has an internal magazine, something that you may see in pistol-like slug throwers. It slides out and allows for the loading of up to 5 slugs. When loaded, a slug is automatically cambered. This led to minor safety concerns in development which even further led to the creation of a discreet button alongside the magazine which unchambered said slug. While lacking a traditional safety mode, this is as close as you can get, and arguably better.

Some designers and users of the weapon note the quick arrival of the slug. Many detest the destructive force of the weapon, tearing large holes in unarmored assailants. Bounty hunters and mercenaries, praise it in contrast, loving its 'swift execution' and 'installment of fear'. Some compare the rifle to a rail gun, but it lacks the necessary strength and power that a traditional rail gun has, like the perviously mentioned Cycler. It does hold some striking internal resemblance though, with its use of magnetic propulsion. In truth, the original design was meant to be a rail gun but the comapny took a different direction, aiming for a 'lite rail-weapon'. To quote R&D senior designer, Sanok, "What if we had a rail gun that didn't need all that heavy lifting? A gun for... more mobile combatants." There were certainly some design choices that couldn't be fully implamented but overall, Labors was satisfied.

Something to note about the rifle is it's widespread criminal use on Thyferra. This is uniamously agreed to be due to proximenty to Ephraim Labors HQ. Some even speculate that the company actually supplies these weapons themselves. As for that matter, the company gives no official statement. However, designer Sanok, states that it would be 'foolish' and 'immoral' to do such. It should be noted that Sanok ran an illegal weapons firm on Corsucant for over two decades, Allegedly.
