SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Spider Eyes - A trio of independently positional domes allow an EK-series droid to track multiple objects of interest or swiftly scout an area for an optimal path to follow. A rear-facing camera allows seeing behind its mounted storage container.
  • Spider Legs - The EK-series wheels on its six legs are capable of being electrically charged causing them to cling to most surfaces; this allows the droid to scale walls and even roam across ceilings relatively quiet (compared to a normal droid's clomping around).
  • Spider Thread - A hookshot on either side of the storage container allows EK-series droids to latch on to far away objects in order to cross large gaps, or to arrest descent.
  • Courier - A fortified storage compartment able to hold a crate's worth of material, or fully grown adult. Environmentally controlled and equipped with life-support even perishable goods will find a home here.
  • Armed and Dangerous - A cyclical Heavy Repeating Blaster cannon is mounted to the underside of an EK-series droid in the forward position. It has limited mobility due to its forward legs and forward-mounted arms.
  • Anti-Intrusion Defense - If a Slicer could easily take control then all the expense on the hardware would be for naught. Fortunately, some choice security was built-in to the EK-series to keep them from being an easy target.
  • Machine-to-Machine Interface - An EK-series droid is capable of interfacing with other computer systems directly.
STRENGTHS
  • Delivered On Time: No Obstacle Too Large - The electro-cling wheels allow an EK-series droid to scale vertical walls allowing it to bypass obstacles and avoid traffic.
  • Delivered On Time: No Place Too Remote - Two hookshots on either side allow EK-series droids to cross large gaps horizontally or vertically.
  • Delivered On Time: No Enemy Too Strong - Beskar, Cortosis, and Titanium were used to provide a sturdy chassis for EK-series droids to weather the harshest environment -- metropolises. EK-series droids were designed to withstand even the 'scrutiny' of a Force-capable assailant.
WEAKNESSES
  • War Courier, Not Explorer - The EK-series is capable at weather most things sentients can throw at it to prevent a delivery. They are not designed to free-wheel across Mustafar or other extremely hot environs where very few sentient lifeforms have constructed homesteads.
  • Don't Shoot the Messenger - ION and extremely high-voltage attacks can still temporarily disable an EK-series droid. Its systems are shielded and capable of self-recovery in time, but they're not impervious.
  • How Do You Fly This Thing? - Unless a ship has a programmable override function, or the controls are simple to use, the EK-series cannot pilot a vehicle or ship. Their construction is not built for occupying a traditional cockpit and pulling all levers or hitting switches scattered all over in painful Human fashion.
  • One of a Kind - While the fundamentals are the same as most droids, the EK-series had a limited run, which may pose problems for someone attempting repairs. Its construction also uses a number of expensive materials should it sustain damage.
DESCRIPTION
The sentient that commissioned EK-0 be built as the first of the EK-series of droids, hired Party Favors to construct them. Unfortunately, to date Party Favors has not been engaged to produce more than the original model, and an exclusivity clause was agreed upon so the schematics have not been offered for future sales at this time.

The intent, as it was documented in the contract, was for a droid capable of delivering some of the most sensitive cargo in the galaxy through some of the roughest, meanest, and most disgusting places. Naturally, such a droid would need to be rugged and capable of thinking on its feet -- all six of them in this case -- in order to elude would be pirates, gangsters, and other hooligans. Fast, able to withstand a pounding, but capable of delivering a good punch to the face to dissuade unwelcome guests. Last feedback had been received from the customer, they were satisfied with EK-0's design and had begun field tests. Sadly, no word has been received on its effectiveness. The company has taken this as a positive sign despite the lack of further orders (seeing how they did not provide the designs to the customer as that had not been in the contract to do so).

The EK-series is not humanoid by any means and easily stands out in a crowd for its atypical design -- at least in civilian centers. Nonetheless, it was programmed with a relatively approachable personality matrix to ensure customer satisfaction.
