- Space or Surface - The Voidspike can be mounted on a ship, used with an immobile ground mount for fixed defences, or a scaled-down version mounted on a land vehicle.
- Armoured Casemate - The Voidspike's Casemate is made from Doonium and Tungsten, making it tougher than average.
- Variable Power Setting - The power setting of the magnetic rails can be set on the fly to match the target's level of protection.
- Cooling coils - Standard in a blaster, the Voidspike also has cooling coils underneath the armoured barrel shroud, raising its fire rate from leisurely to just slow.
- Flexible Power supply - The Voidspike can be powered by a ship's reactor, local power grid, portable reactor, or a small generator while using special ammunition that contains its own power supply for its shot, like old school chemically accelerated rounds.
- Armoured Casemate - The Voidspike's armoured casemate, made from a mix of Doonium and Tungsten, makes it more durable than the average weapon.
- Long Range - Voidspike's range is theoretically ridiculous, but the limitations of reality shorten that significantly to just massive. In space, it is limited by a ship's ability to see the incoming projectile and move, while on the ground, the curvature of a planet's horizon limits its ability to target a foe.
- Hard Hitting - Because of the energy required to push railgun rounds to the speed they travel at, the Voidspike does massive amounts of damage, assuming that it doesn't OverPen
- OverPen - The Voidspike can over-penetrate its target, the round blowing through without imparting a significant amount of energy. This would leave a hole right through, but have very little effect on the target. Not so much an issue when the target has shields that need battering down or is a large capital ship. But the Voidspike suffers when firing at smaller vessels or land vehicles, requiring the operator to manually scale the power output to lower the risk of wasting a shot.
- Overheat - The magnetic rails within the Voidspike heat up very quickly, requiring a strict slow rate of fire to prevent damage to the weapon. While there is no mechanical limit on the rate of fire, shooting several shots in rapid succession without pausing to let the coiling coils do their job can, in the best case can cause barrel droop and hinder accuracy, or in the worst case, cause an explosive catastrophic failure of the weapon.
- Strong Recoil - Accelerating metal slugs to a measurable percentage of c has significant recoil. While a capital ship might be able to absorb and disperse it, smaller vessels, land vehicles, and mounts on ground installations must factor this in for accuracy and installing the weapon so it doesn't tear free of its mount.
EI-E006A Voidspike is a heavy railgun emplacement meant for ships and static defences. It comes with an armoured barrel and casemate to ensure better durability than its competitors in the case of direct hits on the weapon. Lacking a lot of frills or special features, the Voidspike is meant to integrate with pre-installed or third-party equipment to ensure ease of integration.
