Eerie Flight [The Kathol Outback; PM to Join]

The Corellian Rose (retired)
[member="Lok Munin"]

The petite smuggler just shook her head at the antics of the young Munin as they furthered themselves into the derelict vessel. Oh to be that carefree again, Eliza mused with a chuckle to herself. "Be careful there, vod'ika. I don't want to have to tell your buir how you hurt yourself being stupid right out the gate."

The more they moved without anything coming up on their scans, the more the pit of Corellisi's stomach gnawed upon itself. Something was very off here. Steele kept her E-11 blaster rifle at the ready just in case a meet n greet was in order with something not so welcoming.

"Vod, did you see that?"

Eliza turned her helmeted head to the left and shined the light on the area where something had caught her partner's attention. There was nothing there except for maybe a brief wisp of smoke that dissipated before getting a good look at it. The HUD in her helmet had not registered anything either…

"I did, but what I'm not sure. I got nothing on scans… How about you?"

At this point, he ran. Something screamed danger in his mind, and he worried a bit at that as his muscles burned with the effort. Soul and body were still becoming used to one another in a very real way. But still, he marveled at the speed and grace this body had. The musculature he missed, absolutely, but it would come with time in its own way. And besides, now that he was a user of the Force, he could learn other ways to push his body beyond the norm and into the near supernatural. How many times had he witnessed [member="Ember Rekali"] do things that frankly shouldn't be possible? Or watched [member="Draco Vereen"] pull of feats of strength and ability that would leave most near stunned in awe if a regular man could or should have done so, and yet for him it was an average day.

As he ran though, his mind reflected silently on his prior life and nature. Of the various errors and wanderings in his path along life. Regrets were heaped, starting with leaving his fathers intent and Marasuns tutelage. Such high honors and prestige thrown away to be tutored by a 'retired' Jedi Master and smith in the Atrisian style. And he had thrown it away, along with a possible marriage to Marasun's granddaughter. Perhaps that, the prospect of settling down, was what had frightened him into returning to Manda'yaim and signing up with the Protectors after a stint roaming from others and trying to hide his shame.

Regardless, he ducked his shoulder and rolled to the door past an almost moving shadow like creature. A few basic slicing tools were pulled out and he sat to work on the key code, which he utterly lacked any access to. The protocols were quite advanced though, and after a minute or so he merely pulled out a plasma torch and with a bit of coaxing opened up the panel to the box and with that particular access port revealed, he was quick to gain access and step into the secondary chamber. Greeting him were tarp and dust covered piles stacked as far and as high as the reinforced room would allow, and he immediately turned. He needed to seal this door... Just in case...

A plasma cutter was pulled out, and a canned hacking program loaded onto a data-slate. Plugging one into the security fields, he began trying to coax the dead security turrets and droids back on line, but under his command. No idea what, if anything, it might do to those things out there. But every advantage was needed and welcome, and so he would take it. If the little program worked, great. If not? Well... There wasn't much chance of him dying. At least he hoped not really. Dying so soon to such a derelict on an utter fools errand would just be utterly silly and sad really.

The room itself held items steeped in the Force, that much he could sense easily enough. But here and there were parts and pieces that he felt nothing from, and that was curious. As he opened them, he grunted. Things he didn't want to touch lay in the first one, a black iron collar and two bracelets connected to it by chains that radiated pain and suffering bad enough even he winced. And so he began to realize something, at least in theory... The room was blank to his sense until he was within it.... And some of these 'blank' containers were such he couldn't sense from them until they were opened. It was a layered defense.

Quickly he began to pull crates over to him that he could not feel emanations from. These would house the more dangerous or valuable things.

Finally Ijaat stumbled across something that stopped him dead for just a moment. He could not himself sense from within the crate, but around it he could feel... Touches.... Echoes and ephemeral phantoms of the people who had carried it and been entrusted it. There was no discernible lock, or key, and it took him a moment before he realized it was a crate shielded against the prying eyes of a Force User, but only meant to be opened by one. The whole process would be something of a leap of faith on the part of the person who opened it. Not something he was truly very good at, but something that would be needed in order to make things work he suppose.

Calling to the Force, which is how he always thought of the process, he laid hands on what looked to be slightly worn places to either side of a groove in the metal and pushed the Force from himself into it. There was a jarring moment of dissociation, and then locks and pressure clamps gave way. A midi like beeping greeted his touch, and within was revealed a rather sturdy and small chest of what Ijaat took to be ankarres wood, bound in an unknown metal to him. It felt almost like phrik, but less pure and strong. Maybe a cruder make, or hastier alloy. Who knew. But again, there was no discernible lock or meachnism.

Only clue was on the top of the chest, a branded icon he didn't remember seeing before really. On impulse, he grabbed it and turned to assess the situation outside. The creatures still stayed dormant, though there outlines and presence faintly buzzed in the Force and his sight. Hefting his shacklebolt, he prepped to charge out, the small chest under one arm. The security drones and turrets, which ones were operational, were his, and with an awkward hand he pressed the green light to activate them and open the door and burst into the room. Firing from the hip in tight, controlled bursts, he let out a short and almost instinctual whoop of 'Oya!' before he began to sprint with his prize. Whatever it was.

A his footsteps echoed as he made his the fork in the corridor. Back up to the wall, he leaned a little to look down the opposite hallway, his flashlight darting back and forth, while using the pineal sensor and microcams in his helmet to see behind him down the left corridor. Satisfied, he turned the corner, leading his team down it.The open door to his right made him halt, for a low grumbling sound caught his attention. He held up his closed fist, signaling them to hold. He took a cautious step towards it, his barrel trained into the darkness, The grumbling turning into a deep, menacing growl, one that would've normally scared a lot of people, but he wasn't like normal people. The growling was then accompanied by the sound of another throaty growl, then the sounds of claws on metal.

He met eyes with two large spawns, both eyeing him, jaws dripping saliva. One pounced at him, the other taking to the wall, scaling it and advancing out into the corridor. The butt of his rifle met the first spawn in the face, sending it sprawling backwards, he then stomped his foot on its throat, shoving the barrel against its head and pulling the trigger six times. He then remembered the second one, now sprinting towards the last people that were behind him, Bryce and Ria. Hauling ass, he jumped out of the room, chasing the spawn, Byrce could surely handle the spawn alone, but that was if he was paying attention, but he wasn't. The spawn gathered itself, pouncing, it's talons outstretched for BB's throat. That's when he reached out, his hand clasping the spawns tail, yanking it back, his foot meeting it's face. The screech the spawn gave as it hit the floor was so loud it rattled his bones, so it was most likely heard throughout the deathly silent ship.

"Oh, shut the hell up,"

He grabbed the spawns head, taking hold of its jaws and pulling them apart, a resounding CRACK echoing as he tore the spawns jaw in two. The limps body hit the floor, then the tore jaw following that, as he looked at his group mates, some blood on his gauntlets.

"Security terminal is right behind me, it's all you Ria,"

BB watched at the spawns Nate has just silence turned to smoke and disappeared. That's a new trick BB though. He was pissed too because there was nothing to study. His mind began to work as he nodded for Ria to begin working on the security terminals, they were spawn but very different from the ones on Demonsgate. The ones that attacked Nate they looked different, almost skeletal and smoke like. Something about these disturbed him, more so than usual. They were a type he seemed to remember reading about but it was just outside his conscious thought. It bothered him as he gave the ordered for Nate and Waroo to watch the door as Ria set to work.

"What in the-" Ria managed to get out before stepping way back, as Nate wrestled with the spawns. In the time that he fought, she crept forward to try and get an aim on them but it was all too fast. Even if she wanted to kill these things, which she did - their speed was more than she could keep up with. Which was going to spell for a big, big problem if - and there were - any more of these things. Nate and Bryce gestured and directed toward the terminal, and Ria squeezed through to find it. Setting a light between her teeth, she tucked her pistol back into its holster and set about working.

Slicing into the terminal, she worked to the main screen and then down toward security protocols. She was flipping through a lot of the screens and had she not seen the words EMERGENCY POWER. Ria probably would've skipped past that option altogether. It was as if no one even managed to engage it. Before she selected it, the young woman decided to check through security logs. What... "Guys." She spoke up. "I can't, there's nothing. It's like if there were any logs they're gone, someone or something is very good at their job." But I'm better, she thought to herself. Hang on, she figured to flip the emergency power on so she could stop holding the light with her teeth.

Kark, figures. She sighs, and got to work on cracking the security terminal. "Wait, I got something." She mentioned after finding some disturbing video, taken long before their arrival. CAMERA FEED / ENGINEERING

Ria had to take a step back, to hold herself. "Kark that's brutal..." Takin the moment to breathe and keep her bile down. The slicer went back to work where she found a work around on the power, but it doesn't work, here.

EMERGENCY POWER / RESET IN MAIN ENGINEERING

"Bryce." She side steps to let him see the terminal. "I might have a workaround on power, but I have to get to engineering."

Ria gets back to the terminal to try and access more camera feed video. All she finds are more disturbing things, involving the spawn but when she goes to access the automated distress or any sort of distress. "It was, it was only sent, now? Recently? Why wait to call for help? Why..."

Just as she was questioning all of this she felt something brush against her. "Was that you Bryce?" She asks but then she sees saliva drop down on her terminal. Her hands are on the terminal and she knows if she moves her hands, she'd provoke an attack of opportunity. "Kark..."

Feth, BB knew these things... That last video jogged something in his memory. To combat the Sith Spawn on Demonsgate he had studied every shred of data the underground had on them. These ones, these were nasty beast. Unlike the Po Sauʻai they fought on Demonsgate these baddies aren't gonna cut ya up or infect you. They were going to feed on your soul till you became one...

"Feth, Captian Munin, this is Bryce. These things, I don't know if you have interacted with them yet but I'm bet my green but cheeks they are Sith spawn. We have already encountered two of them and they are like smoke when you kill them. I'm sure there are a kark load more on this hulk. Recommend we meet up cause these things are nasty and it would be better to face them with a combine force, over..."

BB didn't wait for a reply he opened up his comlink to "the Starr's" medical computer. If they were going to fight these beasts then he needed all the data he could find on them. As the uplink began BB nodded at Ria saying.

"Damn fine work, we will need to hold on proceeding further till we have a better idea what we are facing."

OOC
Sorry my bad Lok, corrected my post to be more vague.

Well, at least he wasn't going crazy yet. The goosebumps and the cold invaded his body by some force that he had no knowledge of. He put a smile on his face and just shrugged it off. It'd be very wimpy of him to be afraid by a dust of smoke coming from their left. How could a smog of smoke be a harm to him and his team? Besides, there no reads on his scanners except the ones of Bryce and his squad. No threat to be worried about, but the youngster would love to have some lights on to get rid of this dark, eerie scenario.

"Man, we are Mandos and we got scared by some smoke? Anyways, I'm not getting any grind on the scan but we shouldn't be scared of the dark, vod," the Mando said to his companion as he talked with a tone of courage.

A transmission comming from Bryce came to his attention. He listened to him and could hear the fear in his voice. He listened and all he could do was chuckle to hear these words of his. "Bryce, come on, I know you wanna get a scare out of me. There is no way that smoke can be made a Sithspawn and kill you unless you breathe in the smoke on kill yourself. Contact me when you finally have something good,."

He gestured Eliza to follow him and they took a right. Immediately, he said a door open which got his interest and would clear it out to find any evidence of their missing friends. He would continue to trek with bravery.

This is OOC. Bryce you will either find either no info on these things or very little of it (roll a dice, flip a coin, or just say that you found nothing on these creatures). Do try to preserve the horror in this thread. Y'all are doing great! :)

The most unnerving thing so far? The fact the he couldn't exact revenge on these ugly ass spawns, he really didn't give a damn if these things were different, or that they could eat his soul, because the truth was he would just eat theirs. He knew he was supposed to be guarding the door, but he was ADHD and wasn't about make himself a sitting duck for those damn things.

"Hey Ria, you okay? You look a little green,"

The darkness seems to swallow all things, even him, and his lights weren't doing a damn thing to eliminate it, so he just eliminated his light, harnessing his rifle over his shoulder and pulling out his saber staff, it's blade a much better light source as it hummed. He slashed at a fallen door, the blade cutting through it like butter, and he kicked it out of his way.

"Aye, Bryce... come here for a second... would ya? And turn off your light."

Ria glanced up and sighed with relief that it was only just saliva, she'd feared it could've been something more. Stepping away from the console she heard Nate and turned her body toward him. "Video logs showed some pretty brutal things." She jerked her thumb toward it. "Anyway, I got as much as we're gonna get from here. If we want any hope of figuring out what happened, we'll need to head down to main engineering." The blonde stepped away from the console and flicked her light back on.

"Doesn't sound like Captain Munin's willing to bite." They were on their own, again. Shrugging her shoulder she readied up behind Bryce and Nate, looking back to make sure [member="Raachwaroo"] was still behind her. When Nate slashed and kicked his way through a door. Ria reeled back, "kark what's that smell?" While sure, the Underground lot might be a little smelly - the smell emanating from behind the door was something else entirely. "Please don't tell me there are dead things in there." There were probably dead things in there, brutally dead things if the video feed was of any evidence.
